    Thanks for the informative information, I’m in the process of building my home in the Dominican Republic.. So far I have been ripped off.. the contractor was trying to charge me 70k to build a 4 bedroom 2 bath home in the campo, but I know that is too expensive, so I’m back to square one, when it comes to finding a builder.. This video really helped, thanks again!!!

      I feel so heartbroken every time i see things like these happen, where the locals try to take advantage of foreigners because they only see a cash cow.....
      It makes me wish i could be everywhere at the same time and be a local guide.....
      I would rather be up front and ask for some " reward" but offer honest translations or guidance.

      @@jeanluccouture9088 it really is sad. My plan was to provide jobs to the the local people, by having them build my home.. I know the life their is not easy, and I’m trying to do all that I can to help.. I tried to explain to the locals that building my home is a gateway for other foreigners to come and invest. My idea is, trying to build a team of honest people, so that I can share my journey on how I got started, and hopefully it will spark other foreigners interest to invest, so that jobs can be provided to the locals... but as I said it has been a journey😔

    I hear that the "platos" are expensive...meaning the roof...i hear that it's really expensive to have it made of concrete as opposed to tin roof.
    Do you have an idead what part of the total budget for the actual structure went towards the roof?

    • @emmas4524
      @emmas4524 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Great question! Something I forgot to mention in the video! The roof was close to $2,000US. We definitely wanted the concrete roof rather than the tin roof. When building the concrete roof you also need to make sure that you have a special plan for water drainage because when it rains you need to make sure the water doesn’t pool on your roof because eventually it will leak into your house and leave water marks! Our family has the tin roof and over time those break and you’re more likely to get bugs in the house if you have that type of roof. The concrete roof is definitely a good investment in my opinion!
