I am a software developer in the US and used to work with Ghanaian software developer that retired around age 50. He moved back to Ghana and built himself a 7 bed mansion on the Atlantic coast and lives like a king now. Retired with servants and his own businesses.
@@karenscottlewis5466 For real. This was good 15 years ago also. I’m sure it’s more expensive now, but the cost of living in other countries compared to the U.S. is far cheaper. You can get a lot more bang for your buck outside of the U.S. the problem is making the money outside of the U.S., you have to make the money in the U.S. then leave.

I was born in America but my parents are both Nigerian and one of the most amazing things that I love about this video is that she came to Ghana humble but also able to accept to work with Ghanaians to help build homes for others and share her western experience with them. Just because a lot of parts of Ghana or many African communities are poor it doesn't mean they have to stay that way. I am so happy to hear about these smooth paved roads, electricity and solar energy. It is desperately needed. It warms my soul to see Africans and Black Americans working together because that means to me that Africa is less likely to be exploited the way they have been in the past. This is so powerful and I think keeping prices low for Black Americans to make that transition slowly is key. Thank you for this. ❤

My husband is from Croatia and we're seriously considering moving back there to retire because it's just become too costly to live in the US. I'm glad to see this very idea is working out for other retirees.

The Average 1400 sq ft 3bed/2bath house in the Chicago metro area is apx 500K and the property tax will be 9k+ yearly, depending on the neighborhood. The prices have gone through the roof since 2020, they're absolutely outrageous.

Good for them. But do not bring their baggage with them. Take it as a fresh start. Do their research and what business they can open to help local people with employment. Budget for the size of the house you want to live in build. Are there fruit trees, etc, you want to plant. Take your time. Get to understand the locals and customs.

I went to Ghana for 3 months and I wanted to move there so bad, and be back in the motherland. I was discouraged because after they find out you are American they will try anything to get your money. Overcharging for everything. There are lots of bribery and scams. I wanted to stay but I couldn’t handle it. I’m happy that everything is going good for this beautiful lady Karen.
There are bad people and bad things happening everywhere in the world u just have learn more about the place you want to relocate to and find away to move around situations don’t let nothing discourage you.

Right but the over charge is usually cheaper than it would be in the U.S. After a while you will learn how to deal with them. The pros out weighs the cons I promise you. Your status is instantly elite over there.

I visit Ghana in 2022 and stayed 17 days. It is beautiful and you do feel at peace. You don't need a bunch of money saved up, you need to have reoccuring monthly income coming in, such as retirement

I’m not sure if Nigeria is more expensive than Ghana, but I spend less than 10k usd a year, including rent in one of the most expensive parts of Lagos and yearly vacation to London. And I don’t struggle. You’ll live WELL in Ghana on 500k. WELL. Good luck 👍

The cost of the House is now in 2023 $ 100,000 which beats the cost of a " nice house in Agusta, Georgia @ $ 230,000. But, living in Ghana has it's setbacks, since it still is a developing country.But getting in on the ground floor now seems to be an opportunity!

Really nice home. I love the colors, really love that couch. And 70-100k aint bad I've considered things like this in the past. Moving back to Africa would be nice. My only concern is safety and accessibility to everyday needs. A girl coming from the hood, when i move into my next house the last thing I want is bars on my windows and large fences with wire, and cops wanting money. (Also the issue of not having consistent electricity that I'm paying for.) I've already lived that life i want to live somewhere i feel safe or as safe as i can be. I feel life potentially moving there is like trading problems in a way. I want the mother land feel but i want to feel safe in my house and treated fairly. Being targeted for being American and being overcharged for things. Is just not worth the permanent move in my opinion. Maybe somewhere to visit or stay maybe for a few months but I don't think I could live there permanently.

I was born in America but my parents are both Nigerian and one of the most amazing things that I love about this video is that she came to Ghana humble but also able to accept to work with Ghanaians to help build homes for others and share her western experience with them. Just because a lot of parts of Ghana or many African communities are poor it doesn't mean they have to stay that way. I am so happy to hear about these smooth paved roads, electricity and solar energy. It is desperately needed. It warms my soul to see Africans and Black Americans working together because that means to me that Africa is less likely to be exploited the way they have been in the past. This is so powerful and I think keeping prices low for Black Americans to make that transition slowly is key. Thank you for this. ❤

My husband is from Croatia and we're seriously considering moving back there to retire because it's just become too costly to live in the US. I'm glad to see this very idea is working out for other retirees.

The Average 1400 sq ft 3bed/2bath house in the Chicago metro area is apx 500K and the property tax will be 9k+ yearly, depending on the neighborhood. I went to Ghana for 3 months and I wanted to move there so bad, and be back in the motherland. I was discouraged because after they find out you are American they will try anything to get your money. Overcharging for everything. There are lots of bribery and scams. I wanted to stay but I couldn’t handle it. I’m happy that everything is going good for this beautiful lady Karen.
There are bad people and bad things happening everywhere in the world u just have learn more about the place you want to relocate to and find away to move around situations don’t let nothing discourage you.

Right but the over charge is usually cheaper than it would be in the U.S. After a while you will learn how to deal with them. The pros out weighs the cons I promise you. Your status is instantly elite over there.

I visit Ghana in 2022 and stayed 17 days. It is beautiful and you do feel at peace. You don't need a bunch of money saved up, you need to have reoccuring monthly income coming in, such as retirement

The cost of the House is now in 2023 $ 100,000 which beats the cost of a " nice house in Agusta, Georgia @ $ 230,000. But, living in Ghana has it's setbacks, since it still is a developing country.But getting in on the ground floor now seems to be an opportunity!

Really nice home. I love the colors, really love that couch. And 70-100k aint bad I've considered things like this in the past. Moving back to Africa would be nice. My only concern is safety and accessibility to everyday needs. A girl coming from the hood, when i move into my next house the last thing I want is bars on my windows and large fences with wire, and cops wanting money. (Also the issue of not having consistent electricity that I'm paying for.) I've already lived that life i want to live somewhere i feel safe or as safe as i can be. I feel life potentially moving there is like trading problems in a way. I want the mother land feel but i want to feel safe in my house and treated fairly. Being targeted for being American and being overcharged for things. Is just not worth the permanent move in my opinion. Maybe somewhere to visit or stay maybe for a few months but I don't think I could live there permanently.

I have been seriously thinking about moving to Africa 🌍...I love the Cultures and I need a change...I'm so happy I ran into this Video, I will watch more but Ghana 🇬🇭 is beautiful...I meet a Doctor from Ghana and he enlightened me so much on the different places of Africa because I thought the whole Africa was the Motherland but it's Ghana that's the Motherland and where I've always wanted to visit was were the slaves were housed before they got on the boats....I'm getting excited about this move now since I've seen this lady home 🏡 and the prices...Thank you so much for this beautiful Video ❤️👌✝️

It's not that expensive..80,000 dollars can get you a good home and u can start a business..and u will make it.. mind u Africans like to associate with foreign things and people
This! Plus, you have to have something to offer and a way to make a living. You also have embrace the Ghana culture and be flexible.
