    What about hands and wrists?

You’ll hear me quote Harvey Penick often, “If you love golf, you’re my friend.” Friend, your question about the hands and wrists in the swing leads to great understanding! Arnie’s power came from his shoulder turn. Jack Nicklaus’ power came from his massive thighs. Rory McIlroy’s dynamic speed and power comes from his hips rotating incredibly fast while his shoulders lag back. All this to say there are many sources of power----mostly with the bigger muscles of the back, Hips, and legs.
The wrists cause a lot of problems often topping the ball with “flippy” action or an early upswing. It is so difficult to properly time an arm and wrist swing. BUT….I PREFER TO THINK OF THE “HANDS” (Instead of wrists) ACTIVE IN THE SWING. At impact the hands crush the ball with all the speed one can muster. Work on the use of your hands….be careful about the overuse of your wrists.
