I think you need to practice your chipping then. If you haven’t holed out before you are doing something wrong. I’m not a great golfer but luck will sometimes prevail.
Three words regarding this short game lesson: excellent, excellent, excellent! Tommy Fleetwood is one classy pro. Very generous in providing his world class knowledge to help those of us who struggle with this game but really want to improve. Another great video, Rick. You’re another class act. Much appreciate what you do.
Fire 🔥 content Rick! I liked the fact how much Tommy really loves the game. He made the comment that even if he shot 100 he would still love being on the golf course. Very impressive!
Good advice about Tommy. When I started walking around the hole, particularly looking at the putt from the other side of the hole, my putting improved dramatically. Thanks again,
That was the best short game demo I have seen after watching countless video's of this and that and that and this on the subject. Short and concise yet so valuable tips from a real pro. Thank you Tommy!
Love this video with Tommy. The game is really quite simple once you understand the basic setup that most people just don’t do. Pros focus on this stuff all the time but amateurs ignore it! No reason anyone cannot get to a 10 handicap assuming they are playing from the right tees.
Ive started using my wedges for the approach shots to the green when it's just too far for the putter. Using the putter stance and the putter swing has made a huge difference to how I do these shots now. Well done Tommy !!!
I love how Tommy simplified the short game especially chipping. Using a putting motion should help prevent/limit the yips for me…I hope. 😅. Great video, Rick and Tommy!
I always think of the first start 10 under par match with Tommy where it was rainy and cold. What a humble great guy being so generous with his time. Some really nice tips there. Thank you both!
The day TF wins a major will make a lot of people very very happy..including me.. such a nice guy .. I met him briefly on the Ryder cup in Paris .. such an unassuming just nice guy ... always accessible and making an effort .. also a heck of player ... keep the good work him Rick
Different gravy, he’s so bloody good. Look at those shots whilst not even trying. Thanks guys for making this and thanks Tommy for showing us your tips and advice.
Tommy is always the same when you have him on you're show Rick , calm , relaxed and a perfect gentleman ! You guys really work well together ! I always learn alot from both of you , because you explain things so casually !
Great content. Best tip ever re bunker shots for me is the best kept secret: the Pro’s always have a rhythm of 2:1 (one and two) like they do with their drives/irons/woods but that is 3:1 (one hundred and one) ref Tour Tempo. Do try it and you’ll be amazed how your bunker shots improve.
I would have paid big money for a video like this. Thanks for bringing this to us! I admire Tommys game so much and to have an in depth breakdown of his short game is great help. I’ll bookmark this and watch it religiously until it’s burnt into my brain ❤😅
Great video. It really is easy if you have the simple understanding of how to repeat the process. I’ve been using this for a couple years now but also couple it with placing the ball forward or rearward depending on how much loft I’m looking for in a chip.
This is great stuff Rick. Tommy seems so down to earth. Hopefully you yourself took these tips to heart, especially chipping, and is practicing to apply it to your own game.
Putting is the strength of my game, and have tried the chip like you putt, but it really didn’t work that well. Until I actually started thinking about my putting stroke, which is a fairly long stroke in which I have a very smooth transition, but in the past when I tried ‘putting’ my chip shots, I used a short quick putting like motion, which was totally different from my putting stroke which is not a quick stroke at all, so once I slowed it down and made the stroke longer, so I didn’t have to accelerate it so much to get the ball to the hole, everything clicked and it is so easy.
For putting, just use the 10 step method I developed for myself - take 10steps from hole, Putt with whatever is your tempo and start with 10” backstroke. If ball gets to the hole the rule is number of steps = same number of inches in the backstroke. If 10 steps take 13” (slower greens), it’s number of steps to the hole +3 so a 15 step putt will be 18” backstroke. It doesn’t matter how long your steps are nor what you think is an inch as long as you are consistent. This method works on different speed greens and can be fine tuned during play. If going uphill, or downhill, the equation adjust by about +/-20% so the 18 step putt would be 22” uphills or 14” downhill on a regular green slope.
those chipping tips is EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED to see.. thank you so much..this week i drove every fairway- 2nd shot ok..i gotta work on hitting the green closer.
Rick hit the nail on the head re putting when he mentioned being conscious of speed of play, great tips about reading the green as you approach it and go get the flag while always reading the green
Great show Rick and Tommy and big thanks! Great to have these invaluable tips but also great to have some insight into the mindset and thinking of these top players. Cheers from Sydney - Dave
Always liked TF but now like him a lot more ! Nice guy and a good communicator. Not every tour pro is a good coach / teacher but Tommy Fleetwood definitely is.
Tommy is one of the most talented golfers on the planet with incredible feel in his hands - I wish he would believe in himself more and win a major! Always love to watch him. Best of luck this season Tommy!
Absolutely, the guy has an unbelievable level of natural talent. Not really sure why he hasn't won a major because I don't think he has any weaknesses in his game. Maybe just has a tendency to turn his draw into a pull when the adrenaline starts flowing.
I've been chipping with my putting stroke for several years now and I can say this is the way to chip. Be nice to see Rick doing this and quiet his wrist in his stroke!
On the acceleration feel from the bunker Tommy emulating the feel from Dan Grieves of letting the weight of the club cause the acceleration rather than the arms
The chipping like putting thing a good one. I seem to remember one of Peter Alliss’s BBC tuition programmes (70s/80s) where they took absolute beginners from hitting putts with a putter without a specific target but to just progress to hit them firmer and firmer. They then swapped in a 7 iron and told to just carry on. They seemed to find beginning to learn the game with a putter easier and not intimidating and progressed to hitting 7 iron 140 yards within half an hour (blades only back then too!).
Love hearing him break the bunker shots down which is where I really struggle gonna try and combine things he and Jason day have talked about when I’m out playing next
Really educated video, and well appreciated... I also love bunker shots, but my putting is letting me down. I shot 89 today, the first time breaking 90, and if my putting improved, I would do it more often
Love Dan Grieve's way of the 3 releases but looking at your videos you have done since then, you have not taken his system onboard Past couple years you have been more comfortable with the toe down chipping technique so I think what Tommy has said here "putting with loft" is what you should go to 👍🏻 Thanks for the brilliant video
Just a little tip on being slow when reading your putts. Try and do as much as you can whilst others are putting before you. Don't leave it until its your turn to go to start begin your process. Now obviously if doing this means you might be putting someone else off then don't do it. However, the most frustrating thing is to constantly be waiting for someone to read or line up their putt.
Great tips, with wt forward, and, although with the camera angle it was little tougher to see, hearing you say you 'try to get 'the longest swing possible' was what I needed to hear, I previously was not sure on that.. much appreciated!
Something I read into puts is the lay of the land for the whole course, is there a body of water near by because it wil drain towards the water so the whole course will have a slope in that direction, either pronounced or not.
6:54 many times amateurs of high handicap drive the club forward in bunker shots. The follow thru in Tommy’s swings and finish is way more restriced than a say 18-capper usually has.
Best advice ive heard on distance control in chipping whit a pw is. The ball will go average 50% in air and 50% roll, simple as that! For 10m shot if you chip 5m in air you will have approx 5m roll.
Tommy is one hell of a grounded , well mannered gentleman and amongst the best golfers in the world.
Thanks for sharing this with us ❤
Tommy, while casually talking, hits 3 chips that would be in my personal top 5 all time.
he’s a pro though, he’s suppose to be able to. us mere mortals can only dream 😂😂
I think you need to practice your chipping then. If you haven’t holed out before you are doing something wrong. I’m not a great golfer but luck will sometimes prevail.
“Ain’t no hobby, got his name on his bag”
Hahahha right
Then you need a lesson lol
The recent content with Tommy has been superb! Tommy has quickly become my favorite pro... just a really genuine guy!!
Congratulations on your recent win Tommy...hope some Majors come your way.....soon....
Just love how casual the conversation is. Can feel the friendship and professional respect between the two. Great video.
I have watched many chipping videos, but Tommy breaks it down in simple parts that one could easily try and implement in our game ... Thanks, TF & RS
Tommy is the only consolation I took in last year's Ryder Cup as an American. He is one of my favorite people in golf.
Being there and witnessing your big mouth fans getting kicked ass and silenced was my favorite moment in Rome.
Best advice on chipping I've ever heard. Always tried to do some hybrid swing thing and rarely had any luck. Just putt it with loft, perfect.
This video is just gold. Well done Rick. Tommy is just genuine, explain so well.
The chipping/putting visualization is awesome! I feel like I can take that and apply it right away with results!
Brilliant, especially the bunker procedure. Love it! Thanks Tommy!
Fire 🔥 content Rick! I liked the fact how much Tommy really loves the game. He made the comment that even if he shot 100 he would still love being on the golf course. Very impressive!

Rick this video is going to help me massively. That bunker part blew my mind. Thanks to you and Tommy 👏
Love this video with Tommy. The game is really quite simple once you understand the basic setup that most people just don’t do. Pros focus on this stuff all the time but amateurs ignore it! No reason anyone cannot get to a 10 handicap assuming they are playing from the right tees.
Great tips - I love getting tips and refreshers.
Tommy, I am a big fan of yours - Good luck this year, and all future years.
Tommy couldn’t have explained it any better, what a cool guy 👍.
Ive started using my wedges for the approach shots to the green when it's just too far for the putter. Using the putter stance and the putter swing has made a huge difference to how I do these shots now. Well done Tommy !!!
Thanks Rick for having Tommy demonstrate those valuable tips. I can't wait to try them out this spring.
I love how Tommy simplified the short game especially chipping. Using a putting motion should help prevent/limit the yips for me…I hope. 😅. Great video, Rick and Tommy!
Absolutely brilliant... what a masterclass by Tommy!! 👏👏👏
I've thoroughly enjoyed the Rick and Tommy show. Very watchable. 👍👍

A great tip from my 4.6 hcp son - " _If you choose your target after the ball lands, you'll be far more accurate_ ". Works a treat!
These tips are wonderful and so clearly presented. How kind Tommy is to take this time for us.

Tommy lad is the man, MAJOR year
What a great guy Tommy is. A gentleman and great at golf instruction. I see a number of majors in his future, the sooner the better.
This is truly amazing and helpful. Thank you Tommy you are a true gentleman and a hell of a teacher!! Thank you as well Rick love your channel!!

Hands down the best instructional channel on you tube.
Rick hit the nail on the head re putting when he mentioned being conscious of speed of play, great tips about reading the green as you approach it and go get the flag while always reading the green
Rick asking the perfect questions love ur work mate thanks Tommy 🇦🇺❤️🙏

He's an absolute champ Tommy, more from him whenever possible please Rick.
Love this guy. Dripping in humility. What a star.
This chipping tip has completely transformed my short game. Golden gems!!
Awesome video, Tommy's genuine approach is really refreshing 👍

Been checking out some golf videos on short game. This is gem 💎 #1 ranking.

Bloody love Tommy! What a great video again 👍👊🏼

Used this today on the course, helped me massively !!! Great video
Great tips. Really enjoy hearing what the pros are thinking about when they're looking at the shot in front of them.
Tommy's a natural on camera!
Exceptional advice from one of the BEST.
Class act. Tommy has always been one of my favorites.
Tommy for sure, one of the best in the game. Class player
Tommy's a great show. Thank you both!!
Just gold....Tommy is the man
He is great!! The best hair also!!! Easy to understand
I believe this is EXCELLENT content!!
Thank you, Mr. Fleetwood!!
Thank you, Mr. Shiels!!

Rick, one of your best videos EVER!
finally someone that can simplify chipping to something less complicated and therefore easier to understand and do, thanks tommy
'Fringe boost' 2 out of 2 with the #8 tells you about incredible consistency and talent.
I absolutely love this, amazing! Thank you
One of my favorite players. And I will try the putting style for chip and run!
superb insight. Thanks Tommy and Rick
Love hearing him break the bunker shots down which is where I really struggle gonna try and combine things he and Jason day have talked about when I’m out playing next
Tommy is a great example to us all and a great reference for our game. would be nice to see his own analysis of the head dip he does in his swing
I love Tommy talking about setup being the most important thing and that was the criticism that Sir nick Faldo had about Rick.
Really educated video, and well appreciated... I also love bunker shots, but my putting is letting me down. I shot 89 today, the first time breaking 90, and if my putting improved, I would do it more often
Absolutely brilliant, thank you Tommy and thank you Rick.

I like how he said they are
