  • In this video you will see the removal of plastic body panels from this thriving and surviving 1987 Honda CRX. It's been 36 years since this car rolled off the factory Floor in Japan and it's time to repair and repaint the plastic Bakelite body panel. You will see the removal of the panels, temporary installation of replacement panels, plus the repair process for the cracked and broken body panels. This is part 1 and shows the removal and repair process of the cracks by using a combination of high strength epoxy, and fiberglass cloth to "permanently" repair the old, impossible to find panels on this unique survivor from the late 1980's. Stay tuned for part 2 which will show the refinishing process of the exterior of the panels.

    Hi,
I just purchased an 87 CRX HF that I would like to restore. Will you be selling parts from your blue car or did you decide to restore it?

Does anyone 3D print these plastic pieces? Or make them out of metal?

Not that I know of. Much easier to find the 2nd Gen CRX panels, but hard to find the 1st Gen panels. I did come across a company a few years ago the make carbon fibre panels and front piece , but they were very pricey.. I'll look for the link and update this comment if I can find the link to where the carbon fibre panels are made. Thanks for for your comment. J

@@Motorcycology yeah I found that company last night but doesn’t look like they make them anymore. Might have to contact them and special order. I’m not sure. But you’re saying the Gen 2 will fit on the Gen 1?

@@KRAZYSHAWNJno, the 2nd gen will not fit the 1gen CRX at all. These panels are the worse part of these CRXs. Hard to replace, hard to repair.
