    I have been anxiously awaiting this video and was so happy when I saw it pop up! This was my dad’s car! He told me stories about racing in it and how he wanted to take the engine and trans out of it and put it into something else. He used to hand crank it every once in a while to make sure she was still good but life just got busy and he didn’t get around to doing it. I am so glad that parts of her will live on! Rubber front bumper, hood with scoops, stripes, colored mirrors, honey comb grill and a special steering wheel. Around -82 a college (while i was working as Sheetmetal press slave @ Volvo Torslanda), had a Mustang like that, green metallic, like brand new. He was doing streetracing, to afford it he worked double shifts at Volvo. On the remaining hours he worked with the Mustang. He was thin as a line...
    I once visited him in his garage, when he was installing a brand new 9-inch rearend he had bought from Ford. It was that standard, hence the double shifts.
    Fabolous cars in that condition.. I have noticed that these cars look a bit big on photos, but his just low & sleek, elegant.... He raced it in cosmetically 100% original conditon, incl wheels, etc.

    Wow, quite the time warp under the hood. Mallory performance coil, dual point distributor. Holley double pumper carb (4776=600cfm 4777≈650cfm etc...) Yellow go-fast wires. Cool stuff. Linkage on the steering column was used on 4 speed cars to work the steering lock. Shame the car is that far gone. Make a great donor car.

    That 1971 Mustang may be a quite rare car. Those stipes look to be factory and the only way you could get a coupe with factory stripes and color matched front bumper was if it was a "Spring Special". I believe they only made them in 1971, if it is an M Code (351 4V) 4 speed car then it would be quite rare. I just saw the #4 on the head, so those are 4 valve heads. You may have struck gold on this one. 1971 4 V heads are closed chamber heads, and those head by themselves are easily worth over $1000 as cores.

      4 BARREL heads, not four valve. Four barrel heads were large ports, compared to the normal 2-barrel ports. For a non-stock (and 50+ year old car) depending on the head casting numbers, could be either closed or open chamber four-barrel heads. My first car back in '76 was a '72 Cougar, and I've had 71-73 Cougars ever since (Same as Mustnags under the skin) I still have two '73 Q-code 351C-4V Cougars, and the Wife still has has her 22k- all-original M-code '70 Mach 1 351C-4V that she bought in 1983...

    • @stansdds
      @stansdds 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm betting that 351C not only has 4 barrel heads, but they are the closed chamber 4 barrel heads. Open chamber 351C-4V heads were introduced for the 1972 model year and can usually be spotted from the outside by a large, raised dot cast next to the "4". I agree, this could actually be a rare variant of the Mustang, but only if it is original. Given the modifications to the engine, it might be just a hotrod.
      4 bolt block were originally just for the 351 Boss and 351 HO engines. 4 bolt mains were common with the 1972-74 production 351-CJ, which was the open chamber 4V head engine.

    I say, pull the drive train, rebuild that engine and stick it all in your 67' Mustang and yes the Cleveland will fit between the shock towers. You can also put 4v Cleveland heads on a 302 with a Boss 302 intake manifold and that sucker will sing!
    That Toploader 4speed is worth north of $1200 alone and a Hurst shifter will cost you like $300+ used (you can rebuild them). The 9 inch rear axle is worth $1200 and more if it's a limited slip and will drop right into the 67. Holley carb are is chunk of change and you can send them to places like National Carburetor and they'll restore it for less than half the price of new (Holley used to offer restoration services but I don't know if they still do that).

    2 bolt main 351 Clevelands were produced as lower output 2bbl engines. I owned one and completely rebuilt it in the 1980s. People loved to just drop 4bbl carbs and some headers on them thinking they'd run like the 4 bolts - of course they didn't because everything is different between the 4 and 2 bolt main cap versions of the 351C. You cannot effectively make the 2 bolt perform as if it were a 4 bolt. Not cost effectively anyway. Any time you find a 351C, make sure it's the 4-bolt main version before you buy. Dirt cheap is usually a dead giveaway that it's a 2-bolt.
