Yeah young guys usually don't understand the aesthetics and the thrill of pure driving of the 80s and 90s cars. They don't understand that handling is more fun than acceleration in the long run.
I bought one of these brand new back in 1987. Curb weight was close to 1,800 lbs.. Road & Track magazine used to publish an annual "Sports & GT Cars" edition comparing all of the cars that they tested for the year. In 1987, even in the company of exotics, it was the CRX Si that posted the best time in the slalom test - beating out cars that cost more than 10 times as much. Great little car, it was really a blast to own. It's nice to see one that's been kept almost entirely original. (That truly sets it apart these days.)

Nice man I have a black '87 in mostly good shape, all original except cold air intake. It has the dial phone wheels, stock radio. Restoring damaged or worn parts here and there, I've had mine for 8 years, the first year I had it it needed alot of work to get to daily driver, now I only drive it a couple times a week to keep the miles down, good stuff man.

Mine had a sick black spoiler on the back and large black CRX vinyl graphics along the sides. So sharp! It was such a great car… I loved it so much. So fun to drive. Sadly, I broke up with my psycho boyfriend and he was super pissed. While my car was parked in the driveway one night he repeatedly rammed his car into mine then took a sledgehammer to the entire body smashing out the windows. So… that was the end of that. Completely totaled it. Needless to say I cried my eyes out. 😭
I currently own a twin to this car - '87, all stock, 122k miles, Rio Red - and I love it. I bought a 1.5 in '84 which led to me selling Hondas 35 years+. The VERY first PGM-FI Honda in America was the '85 Accord SE-i, followed a few months later by this. It's so tempting to me to upgrade the horsepower (engine swap) vs. keeping it original. Time will tell. So nice to see how you enjoy (and know) this car!
I remember looking through autotrader classified mags every week in the mid 1990s and seeing these cars for sale... they were cheap too back them... but my heart was set on the 2nd gen CRXs. Nice ride man cheers Rob
So...I had a red 1987 CRX Si...when I lived in Laguna Niguel after leaving the military. Got a ticket coming down Oso Road towards Cabot Road (thanks OC Sheriff!). Ended up going to traffic school a few weeks later. Left traffic school, and headed back up Oso Road towards home...and got on it....and damned if I didn't get pulled over going the other way. I handed the officer my receipt from traffic school. He didn't miss a beat...he glanced at it and said..."Guess you didn't learn much..." and proceeded to write me another ticket. That was the last red car I ever bought! Living in Colorado today with a 2008 Meteor Gray Cayman S...let me just say...grey is the way to go! I love my Porsche...but I think I would trade it for a BRAND NEW CRX Si in a heartbeat...owned two and loved them both (loved my follow on Del Sol less).
Man I remember my cousin had a black 87 si crx way back in 1999 we had so many great memories in that car! Really started my passion for Hondas.Now I have my Y49 Si and love it so much.👍🏾
Man, just send that head out to Bad guys and get it ported and get a good cam and call it. You could probably push 130 whp and on 2000 lbs that would be so much fun. Thats about what a b16 will put down to the wheels.

Also look out for rusted front torsion bar mounts, look for them under the car behind the front wheels, closer to the center. Looks like a cylinder mounted to underside of the floor.

Mannnnnn those 1.5 are the best! I have a 2nd gen CR-X with og motor and clock at 319xxx still going strong. I have the dpfi system so that blows but it's a great motor. Same mind set with me... Waiting for the motor to blow to get something else.
Without realizing the cult like following these cars have ..........I just wanted an older car , that i could get collectors insurance on, no computers , low mileage and decent shape..............I just bought a 1985 baltic blue crx in very very good shape in and out only 76,000 original miles.....runs great , even the air conditioning works great .......paid $1000 , insurance is an additional $85 a year (i have a 77 vette , 96 harley with same company).........more people to my surprise aproach me , wave , want to ask questions about the crx , than the vette !!??.......lol............Erik
Out of the topic question i have a 1997 civic coupe if the car is on i can’t shift to any gear (manual transmission) but if its off it goes smoothly to any gear and when it got towed, the driver manage to get it going by pumping the clutch several times. Is this safe to drive?
Nope most likely the springs in your clutch have fallen out. I had the same issue with my integra. I ended up dropping the motor out and the clutch disk had no springs in it
Update: i got the clutch done and it’s working good now except sometimes when i shift to reverse and slowly release the clutch you’d hear a crank and it won’t move back.
I don't think I would touch it I wouldn't swap it finding these in original shape or getting harder and harder. I wouldn't even track it myself I would find something else

Forgot to add… mine had black louvres on the back window and aluminum wheels. It was all decked out.
