  • A quick tutorial on my method for flat folding a SOFTT-Wide Tourniquet for EDC. The technique is a little different than some others I’ve seen, plus a quick trick on getting it to maintain its shape over time.

    That is a great method of folding and packing a Soft T. That is very useful and the instructions were crystal clear.
    Consider doing an application video. If you could explain it half as well as you did this it would be better than 90% of what is out there. Hopefully you will consider it. Great video Sean it was very informative and entertaining at the same time.

      Thanks so much, Rick! I’ll be doing a video very soon all about tourniquets, comparing 4 or 5 different types, and demonstrations on applying them to yourself (one handed, 2 handed, arms, legs, etc.) - I’ll probably do the more academic overview as one video and the practical application as a seperate video.

    Great video! Way better than most of the flat pack videos for SOF T. Thank you!

    Been doing it this way for years. Always carrying it in my pocket. Forget it’s there.

    Great video Sean! Never had the chance to test out the SOFT-W, and my "supplier" only has the previous generation and the newest seem like a pretty good upgrade. Thanks for sharing!

      And, could you just not iron it?

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose you could iron in the folds. Might be kind of tricky and I’m not sure if the hest would be good for the nylon 🤷‍♂️. Even the previous generations are good, the one in this video isn’t even the “latest” version. The newest one has a keeper similar to the CAT to hold the windlass before securing the windlass in the D-Ring. Honestly though I think the keeper adds some bulk that isn’t as good for flat EDC carry.

      @@GearedTowardGear1 Good points! What I was most concerned about is getting the upgraded quick attach/detach latch.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aaaaah. Yes, the ones without the quick detach are fairly old generations. They’ll still work, just not as user friendly.

      @ThePreparedNorseman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty sure I have also seen some with a very thin detatch latch vs the new thicker ones?

    Good stuff. I really need to get a tourniquet, especially for SAR. Won't be able to for a while but I need to keep it in mind.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a good investment if you do any kind of community or county SAR or CERT type stuff. They’re pricey but I’d say when you are able you should grab a CAT or a SOFTT-W 👍🏻

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re only between $28 - $33 brand new. What do you mean by “surplus”? Buying a surplus TQ sounds like a terrible idea. I only recommend buying brand new from a reputable dealer, ideally direct from the manufacturer. If you want a SOFT-T buy direct from Tac Med Solutions or a CAT from North American Rescue. It’s worth the extra money to know you’re getting a good TQ. Too many counterfeits out there.

      Geared Toward Gear the’re unissued or close to expiration date n come with Molle pouch. So not a terrible idea.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kris 9mm close to expiration? I’d spend an extra $6 and buy one brand new from Tac Med.

    It's a good vid but could have been done in much less time. For me, too much chit chat. Didn't really begin till around 3+ minutes and for all purposes was over with over 3 minutes to go. I like the fold though and think many will use it. Nuttin' personal--gave you a thumbs up.
