I was in EMS for 38 years as a primary care medic, advanced care medic and later as a critical care medic. I teach first aid and cpr now. I stumbled onto your video by accident and it solved a huge teaching problem for me post COVID with social distancing. How to demonstrate some things. Your use of that foam to represent a limb is fantastic! You have a very good and effective teaching style. well done.

Very important what you've said here, a lot of folks never think that these types of situations can happen but they do. Just some basic instructions on what to do is better than standing around like a doofus watching someone bleed to death in front of you. Skinny Medic is about the only channel that will SHOW you what to actually do.

I’m not a paramedic but I am a former Phlebotomist and current dialysis patient, so I’ve been in and around hospitals my entire 32 years. I love watching your videos because, not only are they entertaining and very informative, but if I’m able to potentially help myself at home rather than run to the ER (rememberer I’m already in the hospital enough as is. lol) then I’m a happy lil disabled woman! Of course, I know my body well enough to know when I SHOULD go to the ER for something serious and I shouldn’t take your videos as medical advice as I’m not a first responder, myself. when I have emergency aid questions I always check out your channel. used it to help with my combat life saver course I had a few years ago. passed that with flying colors. I now keep this channel saved as a refrsher and as one level of medical aid advice.

I think you can add that you apply the tourniquet above the knee, stop the bleeding, THEN you pack the wounds and apply the Israeli bandage, then loosen the tourniquet to restore flow. That is the latest I was trained to do.

Don't forget your bleedstop before you pack that wound. It definitely helps to slow down the bleeding. If the wound is bad, always put a tourniquet above the wound. A tourniquet is a lifesaver

We had an hunting accident, so i applied a Israeli T3 trauma bandage to a gunshot wound ( a 12 gauge slug) but there wasn't large bleeding. The slug hit the thigh. This bandage is really good.(Bulgaria)
Thank you so much .These videos helped me when a weighted movie theatre doors metal whether stripping cut my wife’s foot open when she was wearing open toed shoes I luckily had a improvised IFak in my car and stop the bleeding after about a pint was lost.

This is the Israeli Bandage's response to the Olaes Bandage. I'm thankful, because I prefer the construction/design of the Israeli and now it has features that even the Olaes doesn't: secondary wound pad and arm loop. Although I do appreciate the Olaes pressure cup, the T3 Israeli is a better bandage. And less bulky than the standard packed Olaes (but mire bulk than standard Israeli)!!!

1 more use! It can used as an improvised sling also.
1st things 1st always thrown on a tq, 2nd if the wound looks anything like that always pack and gauge. Tq's can be kept on for upwards of 20 hours with no limb loss.

If you carry, it would be wise to also have (at least) one of these Israeli T3 combat bandages, and learn to use them. Hey, you never know.

I keep one of these and a combat gauze, nested with 2 band aids in a sandwich bag as my complete ifak for light backpacking. ( Sub 14# bw)

hey skinny medic, any plans to do more vids on how to id fake med equipment and can you make a dvd series available for purchase on your website detailing how to handle different types of traumatic injuries (sort of like a crash course) for those that can't make it to a class at the moment?
I agree. some sort of multimedia training would be nice. For those that don't have the money or capabilities to travel.
Tactical Cats that would be great. I like the thought of dvd. Then again maybe just play list of training for each type of injury/medical situation. that should ONLY take two or three weeks of 12 to 16 hour days to get it done. All joking aside I do love the practical way you do vidios Mr. Skinny.
i agree about the fake med equipment...just received a 4 inch emergency bandage from amazon and it doesn't have a bar code on it...good job its for practice use...

Good Video but if you do have a deep open wound and put a tourniquet on it then you still need to cover the wound with gauze and secure it to be sure dirt and other things can get in the wound to infect it.
Everyone is rushing to a tourniquet these days when the majority of the time they just need a pressure dressing. I seen plenty of them put on cause that's what people carry more. I would tell people who carry them to also carry a pressure dressing and take a class on how to use both. If there's no mass bleeding or squirting blood a dressing or pressure dressing is all that's needed.

This is really good stuff. Hey, while you were out, you got photo-bombed, but he left his fingerprints all over the lens guard so you should be able to catch him. ;^)
We don't apply bandages to broken ribs in the UK, as it compresses them, while they are healing, restricting natural movement, during the breathing process, putting stress on lung expansion, so the ribs mend incorrectly.
