Just discovered your channel and wanted to share my experience with rosacea.I have coeliac disease too and found the triggers for me are anything that is spicy, alcohol, citrus, cinnamon, some dairy products, coffee although I won't give that up! I have just recently started taking a probiotic supplement and it's literally slowed down my rosecea flares even can tolerate some sun now so it's worth considering as it heals the gut.
Thanks for sharing. I actually started a probiotic earlier this year for a different reason and it did correlate with my rosacea improving. Hasn’t put the two together!
Dr. Abby, I really like CETAPHIL Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 20 (all mineral) to reduce redness. It's tinted and has chromium green oxides to reduce the appearance of redness. It also has caffeine and licorice extract which calm and reduce redness. Totally love this product for my rosacea!
@@doctor-abbyI was just reading about this product…it does have a light scent…which makes it a NO for me. So frustrating that even the more health-related products get slapped with fragrance
My face is not red all over, but in patches on cheeks and chin. I wouldn’t even mind the red, but I also have pimples in these areas, which I mind a lot. Everyone making videos seems to focus primarily on the redness, and I would appreciate hearing more about what specifically to do/avoid doing for the pimples…ie products that may aggravate pimples but be fine otherwise.
Have you tried sente skin care? I believe the active ingredient is heparan (sp?) sulfate and it seems to be working really well for me. I didn't really want it to work because, ouch, the price. But I love it.
And oh, please please make a video about rosacea on darker skin. It is a thing but no one really seem to care. And discuss the treatment options please.
The key is to identify your triggers to help reduce new blood vessels from forming. Sun is often a trigger as well as spicy food, caffeine and other foods
I have same issue where i wake up every morning to horrible flushing. What causes that to happen while we're sleeping?? Ive tried keeping room cold and ceiling fan but nothing seems to help with these horrible nightime flares
I do see and improvement in my rosacea when taking magnesium, zinc, omega 3 and supplements for circulatory system. I am french, i dont think they are big in the us because i dont see any when i go to the us or look on iherb for example, its mostly Rutin or Vine extract. In france we have a lot of options for people suffering with bad blood circulation. I could give you the ingredients list if someone is interested, as far as i remember it has bromelain (anti inflammatory) Quercetin ( kind of anti histamin like) ginkgo biloba etc. so it makes sense because it also works to strengthen capillaries, we know that rosacea is also a problem of capillaries on the face that dilate and has a hard time constricting back. Few years ago i did the aip diet which is very restrictive but i saw a huge improvement in like a week, and it taught me a lot about my triggers. Now i know that every time i have a hard time digesting something and i keep having it for two or three days in a row, im gonna have a flare. For me, its a matter of quantity and quality of food. Example: Too much raw vegetables = bad digestion = flare. I got that same led mask as yours last july and it really makes a difference, i feel like it helps my face heal faster and be ready for the next day if that makes sense. I live in the south of france and summer is like hell for me, but it felt smoother with the mask. I read a study about topical green tea being a new treatment option for rosacea so i just ordered a korean serum and am about to try it 😁 currently im rotating around ivermectin, azelaic acid and adapalene ( this one once a week). Thank you for this video!!
Oh and i think i read that its the heat from the coffee that is triggering not the coffee itself, unless you really drink tones of it and i leads to stress that shows on your skin (hope that made sense 😂) ive been dealing with rosacea for a few years now and what i understand is that it is stress related, but stress is a huge word and its not only mental stressors, its heat, cold, its harsh products, spicy foods, wind and so on, a body that has rosacea has a nervous system that has a hard time coping with any stress
A strange thing happened to me, I have very sensitive, dehydrated skin with rosacea, and my skin is at its best whenever I'm travelling to East Africa. I thought the heat, humidity, dust etc. would be a nightmare for my skin and in fact no, my skin is so much better than when I'm in Europe, even though I'm just a sweaty mess most of the time under the hot African sun... This happened 3 times already, so I don't think it's a coincidence.
@@griy1980 the only sunscreen i can tolerate is the SVR sensifine ar spf 50,i tried tones and tones all the french pharmacy options, some korean ( purito daily go to for example had me flare very strongly), the svr one is not mineral but i have zero reaction, its pretty easy to wash off and makeup sits well on top of it, ive been using it since i got diagnosed like 6 or 7 years ago i cant even remember
May i know i have rosacea now, both cheeks are red, swollen and itchy , can i use currentbody led masks now or need let's them recover then i can start to use, thanks because I used led mask last night, I got much itchy , redness and swollen this morning, is it unusual ?am I need to stop to use it or till they recover I can use
@@doctor-abby I find applying any kind of makeup hard on top of azelaic acid from The Ordinary and moisturiser, regardless of them being mixed or applied separately 🙈 it starts pilling as a bastard. So frustrating, because I’d rather use it in the morning and reserve evening to focus on retinol. Seen some liquid serums too, Geek and gorgeous has one, but haven’t gotten to trying it out yet.
Thanks for the tips! I have rosacea (celiac, too 🙃) and found the tip of not sealing in active ingredients with an occlusive super interesting! I just checked my products and I have a moisurizer that includes “dimethicone,” which is listed as an active ingredient. Is this an active I should be weary of layering under an occlusive while experiencing a rosacea flare?
@@doctor-abby adding to my last comment because I’m currently struggling with a rosacea flare up and have reverted back to a very simple skincare routine… could you do a video on how to use actives when you have rosacea? For example, when to know if your skin can handle an active, whether there are actives that are best for rosacea-prone skin, basic dos and don’ts, etc.

I’ve seen a lot of videos about rosacea but this was a neat twist with other options other than traditional treatments. Thanks Dr. Abby!
Thanks
Woah doc. Just discovered your channel. Now that i finally have, let's see you continue to grow. ❤️

Hi Dr. Abby! Just discovered your channel today and subscribed 😁 I have roseacea and I was wondering if: Manuka honey works well for roseacea??
Yes it can be soothing and antiinflammatory.

Great recommendation! Sounds like it has everything. Will give it a try
Is spf 20 enough? I like this product as well, but was afraid it’s not enough. The only sun I get is in the car
@@meghannboyd5663 ideally you want 30 but if it’s just sun exposure in the car and it’s brief then you should be ok with 20

I loooove sente skin care. Their tinted mineral sunscreen is my favorite but agree the price is tough

Sure thing
Also, I have vascular rosacea, i wanted to ask how to keep new capillaries from forming? Really frustrating

Can be many causes including night time skin routine, detergent on your sheets/pillows, hormonal/temperature changes at night

I changed my normal coffee beans to grounded coffee powder without caffeine. Tasts great like my usual cup in the morning

How does LED light affect the potential growth of skin cancers? What about lasers?
Both are safe for skin cancer risk since neither contain light in the UV range

May be worth waiting until inflammation is reduced before using if you noticed a reaction
Bonjour comment faire pour que la peau ne sois pas enflé?
Would you say azelaic acid pills less when mixed with a cream before application?
Yes when it’s 10%. The higher the strength the more it pills

Its the ordinary formula that has silicone in it i think that causes the peeling

So basically the laser treatments don’t get rid of the redness even if you do them every year
For some people they do and they often can help reduce the redness, but you can still have redness with rosacea even after lasers :/
