There's a big gap about rosacea around the internet. Everything is too basic, no one talks about products and its ingredients. Thank you so much for doing such a great and complete job! We need you here ❤️
Try looking for Dr Sam Bunting. She is a dermatologist and has rosacea. She has quite a few videos. James Welsh also has rosacea. He is not a derm. but he has videos of things he tries/uses to keep his under control. If I think of others I’ll try to remember to pop back. But Cassandra seems to be the most in depth so far.
Even a video about rosacea specific products still feels overwhelming! I wish you could jump out of my screen and talk through options with us! Having extremely sensitive skin with rosacea really makes choosing products so hard! I don't want to just try a bunch of stuff and see what works, it is extremely painful when I have a bad reaction. Even trying to find a sunscreen is overwhelming!
I just ordered it! Along with the caffeine eye serum mentioned in this video! If I remember, I'll come back and let you know how it goes once I've tried it for a bit!
@@Diana05050 so far so good! I haven't been using it super long, I started using the caffeine serum first thinking it would be ok and did NOT react well so I had to let that reaction clear up before trying it. So far I haven't noticed a super big change, but going in to the winter the fact that there is no change may mean it's working! Haha
Finally someone who put together rosacea, granted I’ve had rosacea for yearssss and FP type 4 here so spf on list not my favs but I know which of the list don’t or do agree with me since rosacea it’s so finicky I apreciarte this video so much, I’ll add the colerescience spf they are my try and tru, it actually has study tested for rosacea prone skin. Love you butterfly! 💜
Alcohol, sunlight, heat, stress, chemical sunscreens, those blasted masks -- such a challenge for rosacea. I was finally diagnosed during my annual physical when I mentioned it to the doctor, and he looked under my mask (flaming red, thank you). Love Beta Glucan, Ordinary's EUK, Rx Azelaic Acid, Niacinamide, ATO Ceramide Moisturizer. Most antibiotics and I don't get along, so Rx Azelaic Acid has been of some help. I'm considering red light therapy. Thank you for this!
Thank you for putting a Rosacea skincare routine together! There isn’t much out there for it. My derm has me on meds, but beyond that I’ve been on my own.
The only med that really cleared up my Rosacea for over 30 years? Tetracycline antibiotics, Achromycin V from 1987 to 2000! Everything else just treated symptoms temporarily.
If ur wanting Azelaic Acid but not the texture of The Ordinary, try the Tropical Faded serum!!! It's phenomenal!! Plus if u have acne or hyperpigmentation this is PERFECT at helping with both 💖💖
I remember seeing your first viral video many, many years ago and how much that helped me come to terms with and understand my own cystic acne. Over the years I kind of popped in and out of your videos and for the last 6 months or so I've been actively watching your channel again and I have to say I love the direction you've gone in. The science, the research, the (product) advise, the sarcasme combined with silliness, it's great!
Hi, can you make a video on lip care? There’s a gap in the market in lip care information and effective, skintellectual, lip care products. Your videos are so informative, you're able to elucidate products, their ingredients, and skin science in a way that’s informative yet easily digestible. Your input on lip care would be incredibly beneficial, because there is more to our lips than flaky skin and sugar scrubs. Thank you for your amazing videos!
My night routine: Vanicream face wash, CosRX Cica Pure Fit toner, prescription Azelaic gel, LI Power Effect serum (the licorice one), Cerave Cream. Cerave resurfacing retinol over the moisturizer. Game changer.
Thank you for this. I'm combining this and another person's skincare routine I recently found while keeping things on a budget (Under $150). I'm so tired of having these red cheeks and will also be checking to see if things I'm eating are causing inflammation. My first ever rosacea skincare routine will consist of: Vanicream liquid cleanser, CosRX Pure Fit CICA Toner, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum, The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%, Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream, and lsntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel.
I use 20% azelaic acid every morning. To be honest I don’t think it’s done much for my rosacea but it definitely has stopped me breaking out since I can’t tolerate bha or aha. So that’s one less thing to worry about now I’m just focusing on the flushing which I feel is impossible to treat.
Hi, so at the risk of sounding ignorant - I don’t have rosacea so I’m not sure how flushing is of the skin when someone has rosacea. BUT, I get redness after at home peels, and one thing that eliminates it almost immediately is the Phyto Corrective Gel X Skinceuticals. I know it’s expensive and non-vegan, but it works for me and thought I’d recommend looking into it for you ❤️ you’ll find something that works I’m sure. Hope you have a wonderful day/night ❤️
how long have you been using it for? some people have said that it takes a couple of months for it to work. i’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks and still waiting to see if it helps or not.
@@jacobsoto2316 Hi flushing for me is frequent and sometimes intense redness/heat on my cheeks throughout the day made worse my certain foods or the weather. Just the thought of my face being red makes my face more red. It’s exhausting. I really have to be careful what products I put on my face but thank you I appreciate the suggestion!
@@fjp9 6 months now. I’ve been on and off 10% azelaic acid for years but when I upped it to 20 that’s when I really saw the difference within a month I’d say.
Stopping the “rosacea breakouts” is one of the effects azelaic acid have. The flushing is something you have to find the triggers for to control/reduce. For me tretinoin have had enormous effects! But my trigger’s are mostly physically, so … that might be the reason.
Cassandra, you should make a video about PIE (Post Inflammatory Erythema) and what ingredients or products can work for a skincare routine day and night.
it wasn’t until i realized i had rosacea that i finally understood WHY HA bothered my skin. it burns so badly and always made my skin so red. i have very sensitive combo skin with mild rosacea. i’ve finally found a moisturizer that works incredibly for my skin
Having turned 50 this year, with Rosacea, I've been completely anxious about trying a skin care routine and FINALLY after watching your videos for a year, I've started trying Vit C and hyaluronic acid. So far, so good! I'm going to SLOWLY introduce other products to see what I can tolerate. Thank you!
the fact that you post everyday and you never run out of content and topics to discuss about so we learn more about ... almost everything that has to do with skincare and self care ceases to amaze me ! I love you and thank you for your hard work !
Cassandra, thank you so much for such an informative video! Absolutely love everything you have recommended for a rosacea prone skin🙌 I wish I could find a video like this when I was battling my PP rosacea… There are a few products I swear by, if it can help anyone who’s going through this rn: - Dr.Jart Cicapairl cream and serum (I know it’s scented and full of oils, but these are the only products that would really visibly sooth and heal pustules, my skin absolutely loved it) - COSRX B5 Ampoule - Physiogel Calming Relief Serum - Paula’s Choice Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Everyone, please hold up and remember that it all will get better🙏
I actually was diagnosed with rosacea as a teen (I’m 22 now). I’ve struggled with finding a good routine for a LONG time. I also have extremely dry skin...I’m talking full, visible flakes raining down if I don’t keep up with my routine. I’ll write my full routine down below if anyone cares, but my HG product is Elta MD’s Barrier Renewal Complex cream for a PM moisturizer. It’s fairly pricy (~$50), but it’s worked miracles for my skin, as I can see a visible improvement as soon as the following morning. Routine PM only: First cleanse with Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm Cleanse with Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser Toner: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner OR Tower 28 facial spray AM Serum: Naturium Niacinimide Serum AND Natirium Hyaluronic acid serum PM serum: Alternate with Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief one day and Natirium’s Azaleic Acid Emulsion the next. Treatment: Derm prescribed Desonide lotion AM moisturizer: Vanicream Daily Facial moisturizer OR First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream PM Moisturizer: Elta MD Barrier Renewal Complex Sunscreen: Biossance Squalene + zinc mineral sunscreen
I have the most sensitive skin EVER then I used purito unscented toner and serum, they did wonders to my skin, I really loooove them!! Thanks CasCas for ur lovely video
I've started using the Ordinary's resveratrol and ferulic acid, this seems to help a little so far..... I actually find some chemical sunscreens are better, mineral sunscreen is too heavy and I just hate the texture. Some things temporarily irritate my skin but not for long, I prefer Nivea shine free SPF 50, Korean sunscreens and La Roche Posay (whatever that really runny formula is but its messy). I prefer very light or gel like sunscreens. I already moisturise so don't want a moisturising sunscreen, well, not heavy moisturiser.
My rosacea calming holy grail product is the la roche posay cicaplast baume, I know LRP dosent aligne w Cassandra's ethics but they're very accessible as a brand
could you make a video suggesting foundation for rosacea? I'm so frustrated to find one that doesn't trigger my rosacea. I can't find a good foundation without fragrance, I'm so enough to test and waste my money! 😭
I first noticed my rosacea when I was 25 years old and started working with ceramics, I have dry skin and the powder of ceramics and plaster make my skin dryer and more reactive to dry weather and sun. My worst rosacea episode happened when I moved to Poland and I was exposed to minus degrees temperature and inside the house to the heater, not only my skin was reacting super badly but also my eyes. I got ocular rosacea that unleashed blepharitis and I had a lot of dryness and started to see blurry, the normal eye drops didn´t work out for me because I was lacking a type of oil that retained the humidity in my eyes and that oil can only be produced by your eyes so I had to put hot compress in my eyes and be really patient to get those oils back. It took me a while to understand what makes my skin react (now im 32). Im fine with spicy food, caffeine, alcohol. But extreme changes of weather, dryness and the sun are my worst nightmare . Also after my pregnancy it got way much better I don´t know if it has anything to do but I have less issues than before. Hope my experience helps someone, I remember feeling really lost 7 years ago. I like to see that nowadays there is a lot more information about rosacea
I was wondering....did the occular get better? It is the worst for me! if I cry it just makes everything sooo much worse. I could really use any help you may have with the occular I have not worn makeup in 3 years
@@tracygalloway9379 Hi Tracy. Of course I can share what worked for me in the hopes it works for you. I would say that First think is to Identity what Makes your eyes react. Type of weather, heater, air conditioner, makeup, etc. And avoid those things as much as possible. I don’t wear everyday makeup in my eyes I do it only on special ocations like weddings or so. But I heard that there are special types of makeup like in It cosmetics that help with this maybe you could try something like that. In my case the rosacea was a mix with blepharitis, it peaked because I wa slicing in Poland and outside was super cold and the cold wind would freeze my eyes and then everywhere I went hay a heater and was extremely hot, so my eyes reacted badly to that, at the biggining was just dryness but then was dryness+ redness+not being able to see (blurryness) so I was really desperate, screen make it worst. I went with a few doctors and the first one recommended some drops but they where not working, second one told me I maybe needed a cornea transplant because my corneas where really badly injured. I had little scratches on the surface. Then I flew to Germany with an esoecialist and he was the one that told me that I didn’t needed that but the thing with the oil, that my eyes was not producing this special oil and that was because the rosacea and blefaritis. So the solution was really basic to be honest. Every morning and evening I had to put hot compresses in my eyes (there are special things for this I got an electric eye mask that would warm up and use it for at least 10 min) and then with a special cotton clean my eyelids and massage to estimulate the production of the oils and to unblock the way of the oil.
I used the brand Théa for cleaning my eyes every morning and night after 10 min of hot compress in my eyes. And after that apply hydrating drops it was like this for at least 15 days until My cornea healed and I could see again. After that I did it only for sleeping and now I don’t do it anymore unless I feel like I was exposed to one of the damaging agents or I start to feel my eyes dry. Then I will do it again and I feel it’s also better because now I live in a more humid area. Hoped this help, sorry for the writing mistakes. Wish you feel better soon.
Omggggg tell me more about your eyes! can you see better with the warm compression??? it’s so crazy how i’m in the exact position but worse i feel like….i’m visually impaired now and have been going to doctors to get my vision fixed and it turns out the eye infections i use to have plus the random rosacea flare up i had 5 years ago is what kickstarted the loss of my vision. i’ve had different doctors and getting multiple opinions tell me to do one thing and another. doctors in the states recommend eye contacts for now and not worry about a surgery, basically using contacts as a band aid until????what? do i have to be practically blind to get a surgery? theyre trying to avoid surgery and want me to use contacts even it helps 85% with my vision. they just gave me eyedrops to quiet the scars but over time using steroids isn’t a good thing either. went to see a doctor in mexico and they were more concerned with treating my rosacea and once my face calms they said there might be a possibility of a cornea transplant in one eye, and the other eye can be saved bc the scars aren’t on my iris, i can use contacts with that eye. anyways i’m trying holistic medicines and what not bc i’m just running out of options. my contacts come in in a couple weeks but i just want my vision to be restored with out surgery. ahh sorry for dumping this on ya just hoping for a miracle here.🥺 how are your eyes now?? i bought a microwaveable eye masks in january and use to use it everyday for about a month until i just forgot and lost the rhythm of the routine. maybe i should start that again?
I also have rosacea and very dry skin… it was a pain in the 🍑 to find the products that actually helped me, but i still have to be carefull if i buy skin care (lately i tried a cream with hyaluronic acid from the brand Mixa - it made my skin worser 😞).. but my regullar routine of skincare is: cleanser from First Aid Beauty, tonic water spray from Malinca (a brand from Slovenia) with the essence of damask rose (that really helped me), aloe vera gel from Holika, Sanapelis creme (it has bees wax, propolis, shea butter, almond oil, sage, oregano and lavender oil in it - this creme really helped with the rosacea, it is a little expencer than other cremes but worth every cent), creme for dry skin also from First Aid Beauty and then after all this i top it off with lrp anthelios spf 30 ☺️ these products are probably the only combination that helped me and dont make my skin worser 😅 i tried a lot of products… but had a bad reaction to almost everything (Cerave cleanser and creme were the worst combination for me…). Maybe i should also mention that every now and then i also use from The Odinary the serum fondation if the redness is really bad 😅 but i use really rearly 🙂 Hope that this comment will eventually help someone 🙂
I can't wait to try some of these! I was recently diagnosed with rosacea by my dermatologist, my previous dermatologist missed it when diagnosing my eczema. My doctor recommended the EltaMD UV Clear SPF46 Broad-Spectrum for my rosacea and wow! It makes such a difference. I love my skin in this sunscreen so much that I never forget to put it on. I don't know what's in it that helps with the redness on my nose and cheeks but it's amazing. Wears well under makeup too! Doesn't dry my skin out, can't tell I'm wearing anything, doesn't smell like anything. It's great! Thank you for this video. I plan on trying a few of these (one at a time) to improve my skincare routine.
Oh I also wanted to mention that taking bits of advice from your videos has really helped my skin look and feel healthier so thank you for all the work you put into these videos
I would say the azelaic acid from The Ordinary has an almost powdery texture, like a matte liquid foundation. The silicon should (theoretically) help seal in moisture, but I also think it builds up over time, and I don't feel clean if I don't use a strong cleanser every now and again to get it off.
I'm so glad you brought up the sulfur!! Since a lot of actives can trigger rosacea I'm glad that an ace-fighting active like sulfur is good! Are you able to make a video about sulfur though? I can't find anything online anywhere about how to use it and what it can and can't be used for. THANKSSSS
I'm from Caracas, Venezuela. I love and follow your channel. I saw this video to get guidance about my mild rosacea and I bought a few products still on their way! Can't wait to get on my hands: -The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% -Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm -Pyunkang Yul Toning Essence -Haru Haru Wonder Black Rice Toner -The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% EGCG -Inkey List Peptide Moisturizer 🤩🤩🤩🤩
@@stephsgonnabreak7546 Ok, so far I've tried The Ordinary Caffeine Solution all over my face, and is absolutely amazing, I woke up this morning with a younger face 😁😁. The Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is amazing too, one of my favs so far... But, the Oat Cleansing Balm from the Inkey List, is a good one, very generous with the skin, but the problem is its texture, too solid! You have to squeeze the bottle very hard to pull it out!
I’m using a CurrentBody LED mask & I like it. Very easy to use. Just started so I don’t know if it’s helping my skin. I have very mild Rosacea. I must wear goggles for eye protection. Strange that nobody who reviewed it has mentioned this.
I was diagnosed with rosacea and prescribed doxycycline, even though I told the dermatologist that I did not want that since I take doxy all the time for chronic sinus infections. So, I decided to try Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid instead and while applying it, I broke out in hives on my face and neck instantly. Besides a second opinion, any tips?
OMFG Yes. My skin is prone to redness and flakiness like I always end up looking like Freddie Krueger if I go one day without moisturizer so I need this. Also I've been using a super thin layer of Cerave healing ointment at the end of my skin care routine at night and it's been *chefs kiss* GODLY
I was looking for a video like this a couple of days ago , trying yet again to actually make my rosacea better and not just keeping it from getting worse, but haven’t decided what to get yet, so good you’re posting it now 😁
My rosacea improved greatly when I eliminated wheat and sugar from my diet. They cause inflammation. Trigger foods for you may be different but may be worth exploring. Dr. Ken Berry has some videos on rosacea and how his improved.
I have mild rosacea, and I can say that since I use elta MD sunscreen after my moisturizer the morning, and Adapalene gel 0,1% the evening, my skin texture is better and I have less redness.
Garlic, tomatoes, spicy food, egg yolks, red meat, onions, red wine, caffeine, citrus fruits... are some of the heating foods that can cause excess heat in the body. Look up “pitta pacifying” foods to find out more x
I've been using the Azelaic Acid matifying serum from Typology for more than a year now and it has dramatically reduced my rosacea. Might be a solution for those who don't like the Ordinary emulsion one. Typology is a french company but I believe they ship internationally, they are inexpensive and have a lot of products with a short ingredient list + use a lot of organic ingredients. Only thing is the pipette for the serum bottle is kinda hard to use but you get used to it.
I like rosacare and aveeno calm and restore for my vaso. Rosacea. They are cooling and moisturizing. I use The Ordinary azelaic acid. I can tolerate Neutrogena repair nightcream ( I wish it was cruelty free) as the only anti aging product. Niacinamide is drying, so I use it mostly on my tzone. My skin does well with Australian Gold sunscreen, Supergoop play, Elta MD and Cotz. I will try the elf cleansing balm.
I wanted to chime in after trying some of these products for my own rosacea prone skin. I am really enjoying the Gel to Cream Cleanser, the Purito toner and the Deep Sea moisturizer. I also got the CeramedX for nighttime use and I love the feel of it but......every night it would sting just a bit after putting it on. This seemed odd to me for such a thick, lovely moisturizer. Welp, I saw my dermatologist today and mentioned this to her. She pulled it up and looked at the ingredients and said "it's the lactic acid. You should probably put this aside". Bummer. She is having me try by Aveeno Calm and Restore for senitive skin and also Vanicream to see which I like more.
fully mineral spfs and very occlusive moisturizers can feel suffocating and lead to a flair up of rosacea, this is a very common experience so i’m surprised to see the recommendation to use vaseline and mineral spfs only
Thank you, Cassandra! I'm a Canadian with very limited options as much of the products you listed aren't available to us without a prescription (and even then, still not available). But you gave me some ideas I didn't get from the single dermatologist visit I was allowed, so thank you! Topical caffeine? Who knew?? 🥰
I saw that Beauty Bay have a couple of new products from their own brand By Beauty Bay. It’s a 50 ml serum with Alpha arbutin and Tranexamic acid and a night treatment/sleeping mask with Salicylic acid and Azelaic acid. I’m going to buy both next month - I’ve already bought this month’s skincare, I need to hold my horses.. 🐎 🐎
So happy to hear someone say the heralded HA can be irritating. I have had a horrible time finding this little culprit. Some really interesting products here that I plan to try out. My skin is so dry, dehydrated, painful and RED.
I have mild rosacea and the Inkey list's Oat cleansing balm is perfect. Very soothing. My other skincare products are also non irritating, and don't trigger it. Unfortunately, alcohol, exercise (sweat), very strong sun during summer and the cold weather seem to trigger it, and I can't really do anything about it.
I have just been formally diagnosed with rosacea type 1 and it did a number on my self-esteem. I knew I had it for a while but my flare-ups were infrequent and the flushing would go away on it own within 1-1/2 hrs but ever since winter came, this year my skin started feeling dry from September and nothing seemed to moisturize my skin properly. It would appear fine on the outside but my skin felt really dehydrated and dry from the inside. There was no flakiness and I also started getting some acne around my jawline and around my nose area and on the sides of my lips (something which I never had before). But the flushing would come and go and I was able to control it. But since the last 7-8 days, I started to flush at night. It became so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep at night. It extremely stressed me out which caused more persistent flares. My cheeks would become hot, red and I felt like crying (which I did as well until it aggravated my rosacea even more). My ears would become hot and red as well. It was then that I went to a dermatologist and she wrote a prescription with a bunch of medicines out of which I could only take two because of my nephrotic syndrome. I am yet to start the Erythego gel (I am so scared). But honestly, it was stress and anxiety that has been really triggering it for me and of course, low humidity, cold weather and low temperature. The difficult part of it all is dealing with Rosacea in India where research is scarce and a lot of the skincare products aren't available (like Cerave, vanicream, the ordinary, K-beauty products) and even if they are, the prices are extremely high. So, that's my story. I don't know how I will control it completely but I am hopeful that I'll be able to manage it better.
At present I am using CosrX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, Isntree Hyaluronic acid toner (only started this yesterday), Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Moisturizer. I am also taking Allegra 180, Extend Capsules (as prescribed by my dermatologist) and my regular Cardace 20. For all those who are suffering from Rosacea, know that you're strong 💜
I’m so sorry to hear that you are going through this! I was diagnosed with type I rosacea about 2 years ago and I was devastated because I had never had any issues with my skin. I became so self conscious about the redness that it caused me to become depressed. I’ve seen several different dermatologist and they prescribed topical meds but it didn’t work! What I do find that helps is nice soothing and calming ingredients such as centella, propolis, mugwort and green tea extract. I also use a moisturizer that has ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids that will help to repair my skin barrier. I hope this helps and good luck 🥰🥰
@@crissyanderson6495 My dermatologist gave me a moisturizer that has caprylic triglyceride, squalane, ceramide and I am loving it but my skin still feels dry on the inside. For instance, when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels tight, and is really dehydrated but still has that non-sticky squalane layer (some of it). My redness is such that it doesn't stay all the time. It's mostly at night (or evening) and early morning when I wake up. Centella does help soothe my skin (I use the Klair's Midnight Blue Calming Cream/Bioderma Cica Cream). I have been thinking of incorporating a green tea serum and the mugwort cream from Isntree. This winter I have been suffering a lot but the flushing doesn't feel it's burning my face anymore, as was the case even a week ago. My skin doesn't do well with low humidity and cold weather and I am just waiting for the weather to get better and become more humid😭. I hope you are doing better💜. Is there any way I can connect to you on any social platforms? Sometimes I feel like I am the only one suffering from Rosacea as none of my friends or family or anyone near me has it.
@@Fictionallove345 The moisturizer that your dermatologist gave you sounds nice! Try applying it to damp skin! I like using a facial mist like the one from La Roche Posay Thermal Water Spring Water or Laneige Cream Mist or you can apply rosehip oil like from The Ordinary and then apply your moisturizer to lock in the moisture this might help with that tight and dehydrated feeling. I also have found applying a thin layer of Vaseline (1-2 nights) helps as well. This is called slugging if you haven’t heard of it. The colder weather definitely makes my rosacea worse so I completely agree with you! Bring on the warmer weather! 🏖☀️👙 we can totally connect on social media! I feel the exact same way you do as I have no one that understands what I’m going through as well! My name is Crissy by the way (this is under my hubby’s name lol) have a wonderful day! 🥰🥰
I've found that Rovectin's Treatment Lotion to be an incredible option at the 'toner' stage - it's so soothing and I love it. If you want another stronger azelaic acid, Dermatica have a 20% cream that I'm finding really effective. Just some things to look into my skin friends 😊
I have to say hyaluronic acid has done wonders for me. I had oily skin with acne but also had tears on my skin, especially upped cheeks. I started using HA gel serum and a HA overnight mask (both made by Mixa) and my skin is so much better!
Im just going based on that thumbnail, but I have rosacea and that inkey list oat cleansing balm burned my face so much. Which was a bummer because at first I liked how hydrating it was 😆 As with every product, your mileage may vary, but patch test first, unlike me 🤧
I haven't used the Inkey List balm, but I did use a different brand (wish I could remember it) but it left my cheeks with such a burning feeling. None of the ingredients were irritating, yet somehow my face just decided it was a huge no. I have dry cheeks, and an extremely oily T zone, so I was hoping a balm would kind of help balance out without stripping. I wonder if maybe a liquid oil cleanser, rather than a balm might be better, as you don't "drag" it around your face as much? I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this because I'm genuinely confused as to why my balm did such a number to my face 😅
I tried that one, too and my skin didn't like it, either but I've also tried so many other cleansing oils and balms and none of them worked for my rosacea prone skin. The only thing that has worked well so far is the Bioderma micellar water as a first cleanse, no signs of redness or irritation at all, quite the opposite actually. Unfortunately, it is not cruetly free, I believe but it's the only first cleanse product I found that works for me.
Rosacea is not that common for indian skin so my parents and even my close ones keep saying me for using bad makeup products and all and no doctor actually diagnose me properly they said it's just cystic acne...but then I found my right dermat. He was my savior...and I'm still fighting to get a proper sunscreen in indian market...
I was thinking about my rosacea and the products I need to help me calm it and what I thought was: “let me check again Cassandra’s recent video about rosacea to recap all the info”.. So when I check youtube your new video about rosacea just appeared there for me 🤣 I’m so happy you did this video and I thank you so much because I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t know about or don’t understand rosacea prone skin and your vids are always exceptional at explaining things. Thank you for helping us understand better our skin ❤️ PS a video of arachnids sounds interesting 🤣
THANK YOU! another holy grail toner for the short list is the benton deep green tea toner. its so soothing and refreshing even with flare-ups that make skincare feel like an attack. its also like $12 for a 4/5 oz bottle? icon shit
Love that you did this video, but FYI there is Linalool and Limonene in the Dermalogical sunscreen, which can cause allergies. The bane of my existence.
I’ve been using trentinoin for awhile now and I’ve recently had sooo much peeling on my skin, like dry flakey areas on my chin, and a little on my forehead but mainly around my mouth anyway the ONLY cleanser I could use without it stinging super bad was the inkey list oat cleanser . It stung a tiny bit but not nearly as bad as everything else I tried, I love this cleanser so much!
So hyped over this video!! Only person that has shown multiple products in each skin routines. I have just flush on cheeks and nose no bumps but I have noticed after my children it sorta got worse. It could be bc I was 20 and pregnant or just hormones. It runs in my family big time.
My go-tos: La Roche Posay Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser or Cere Ve Hydrating Facial gentle cleanser, Peach Slices Azelaic Acid, Vanicream Vitamin C ,La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer (non-UV version at night, UV version during the day). I use Paula's Choice BHA toner as needed. My skin is highly reactive to sulfur or benzyl peroxide. I have sunhats and visors and UV blocking sunglasses. I am considering the Bluestone sunshield, but I'm still unsure if I would wear it out.
The pyankang yul essence was amazing for my rosacea until winter. It made my nose very irritated and red unfortunately. But my skin is extremely sensitive so it could be just me 🤷♀️
thank you very much Cassandra. Can't tell you how much I appreciate the huge amount of effort you made to create this content. A lot of things I have been doing, some I will change now and others add in. I am getting great results from light therapy, recommended by my eye specialist as my rosacea has now gone into my eyes. I use the Trophy Skin one, it's affordable and does a pretty good job, I need to use it for 15-20 minutes a day. You made me feel hopeful and empowered. I also have been mindful of my diet and that has helped a lot too.
My dermatologist recommended soolanrta and skin barrier fixing moisturizer, and its working really well. Thank you cassandra, i have watched all of your videos and now i turn and learn about any product and know what i need exactly for my skin type.
I have rosacea and the most annoying part is I have a lot of black heads and my skin really needs a deep professional cleansing, the problem is no cosmetician around where I live know anything about dealing with a skin with rosacea and I’m lost since I can’t use any exfoliating products or similar... Is there anything that is safe for my type of skin and exfoliate/get rid of blackheads and polish it a bit? My skin looks just...tired and dull.
I’m not a derm or a doc, but de la cruz’ sulfur oil-free acne mask (in the small tub) has done wonders for me re inflammation AND blackheads. It’s super cheap and a little goes a long way. Dr dray recommended it for rosacea and it has been a life saver cause i use topical Ivermectin as well to control inflammation and demodex, but i feel like ivermectin causes blackheads so the sulfur mask really helps.
My go to Sunscreens are Differin Oli control moisturizer spf 30 broad spectrum and I LOVE the Bliss. The Bliss IS my make up. I do not wear foundation.
Thabk you for this!! I have severe rosacea so bad that I did the laser treatments to get trid of it. Still have flare ups and there is so much information out there. I love your videos and I love all the research you do so I don't have to. I am going to try some of these products and see if they help.
I have the same issue. I tried the Skinfix Acne Cleanser. Had Azelaic acid, salicylic acid, niacinamide and whole bunch of other great chemical exfoliants. It's SUPER gentle. I noticed a difference in my blackheads using it 2-4 times a week on my ultra sensitive rosacea 🙄😁🤣 hope this helps 🤗
I’m a nerd with rosacea, so both sides of me appreciate your thorough descriptions greatly! 🤓😊😂 Thank you so much! Just one question: Is rose water good for rosacea? I use it when I feel my skin too dry, especially when I wear makeup. But I’m wondering if it clasifies as a “fragance” and might trigger rosacea. I’m just learning to get my rosacea under control, so I really can’t tell if it’s good or bad to my skin. Thanks, again!
Hi Cassandra! Can you review the serums from It Cosmetics? They are very reasonably priced, but are they any good? They are available in many countries outside of the US!
I get really bad papular pustule rosacea in summer every time it reaches 40 degrees (Australian) it comes up and the bump will last for monthsss, I also get breakouts that Are hormonal frequently lucky I discovered azealic acid it helps both for acne and rosacea let’s hope for a good skin summer 😌
Very informative! Thank you for suggesting these products, Cassandra. I just bought the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream, the Acne Free Acne Clearing Sufur Mask, and the Paula's Choice Resist Sunscreen!
Hey Cassandra thanks for the video, massively informative! Question - I have rosacea, sensitive and oily skin at the same time. Moisturisers and sunscreens make my face look even oilier whereas mattifying products make rosacea worse :/ any advice?
Hi Thanos, I have rosacea and oily skin and I've found moisturizing gel and azelaic acid fantastic. I use 20% azelaic acid and aveeno gel oat moisturizer
Elta MD’s UV Clear Sunscreen! People rave about it for acne and rosacea, and if I recall it’s made with oily skin in mind due to a high niacinamide content. Plus it’s SPF 46. Only downside is, it’s kinda expensive.
I have rosacea, sensitive and oily skin too, I use a sunscreen 50+ from Avène and it doesn't leave my skin feeling oily. I also use a moisturizer (just a tiny bit) before applying the SPF.
Thanks all for the responses! Forgot about this post, however since I posted it I have discovered Paula’s Choice Resist mineral sunscreen and oddly enough my skin doesn’t hate it! Also have been using the azelaic acid booster from PC which is really good 👍🏼👍🏼 No massive breakouts since I started these 2 products!
Hi Cassandra! I've been watching your videos since 2009 (15 yrs!) and always found them helpful. I find your skincare videos more helpful than some of the dermatologists videos on here, which are too basic. They don't talk about ingredients that are helpful, or how to combine skincare for rosacea and anti-ageing for example. Can you make an updated 2024 video for this? Has there been any inovation in the rosacea products in the past 3 years? I've had vascular rosacea since I was a teenager(it wasn't too bad), combined with very oily skin, so I focused on treating the oiliness causing my acne. But now in my 30s my skin changed, it's combination to dry and my rosacea now is my worst problem, nicenamide is really irritating me, I get more and more visible blood vessels and pustules. I want to start using retinals/retinoids and vitamin C, but I'm afraid it will worsen my rosacea. Can you help with some advice?
Thank you, this is so helpful! I have papulopustular rosacea and acne, the symptoms are both controlled with the pill. I'm in Australia and use Dermaveen extra gentle soap free wash and the extra hydration intensive moisturising cream and Natio clear zinc mineral sunscreen 50+
Hi, I watched the whole video and looked at ur shelf too but I needed more help. My rosacea is only redness and very bad skin irritation so can you tell me a daily skin care routine for day and night? Please♥️ thank you so much
Vitamin C worked really well for me and the caffeine one from Ordaniry. I used them before i know that what i have is rosacea.. My old dermatologist told me that these are acne but it developed and spread in my face after few years and never went to a dermatologist. So i was trying to find what is going with my skin on my own.
For anyone who lives in a country with "dm" as a drugstore I'd recommend the "Balea Med Ultra Sensitive Tagescreme" as a moisturizer. Really inexpensive and my skin is almost rosacea-free nowadays.
Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom 🍄 is a miracle for rosacea. Been using for YEARS, and it completely turned my rosacea around! It’s better NOW than it was when I was in my 30’s!
I recently went to France, and the pharmacies had a wall full of excellent skincare ranges for Rosacea by brands Bioderma, SVR, Eucerin, Uriage and La Roche Posay. If only they were more readily available in other countries.
There's a big gap about rosacea around the internet. Everything is too basic, no one talks about products and its ingredients. Thank you so much for doing such a great and complete job! We need you here ❤️
So true!
Nor do they talk about the real roots - gut and our toxic environments and foods
@@BlueDoes93 how did you find it??
@@Diana05050 so far so good! I haven't been using it super long, I started using the caffeine serum first thinking it would be ok and did NOT react well so I had to let that reaction clear up before trying it. So far I haven't noticed a super big change, but going in to the winter the fact that there is no change may mean it's working! Haha
@@BlueDoes93 How are you doing now with the Ordinary azelic acid?
The Inkeylist balm cleanser and the Hyaluronic acid has been a game changer for me 🙂
Finally someone who put together rosacea, granted I’ve had rosacea for yearssss and FP type 4 here so spf on list not my favs but I know which of the list don’t or do agree with me since rosacea it’s so finicky I apreciarte this video so much, I’ll add the colerescience spf they are my try and tru, it actually has study tested for rosacea prone skin.
I wake up and look pretty decent. A whole day at work with the mask on.... RED EXPLOSION!
I used the Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm and I have acne rosacea and I was fine, it took off make up and did not irritate my very sensitive skin.
Just a heads up about petrolatum - occlusives can also TRIGGER rosacea, it was the main trigger for my perioral dermatitis (related to rosacea).
is the pyukang essense safe? intried so many products and norhing works :( do you have any tip? oils cleanser , cleanser and moisture?
I found nice soothing cosmetics for roseca but they are from europe so idk if you can get them.
The Ordinary amino acids + B5 really helped my mild rosacea in the cheek area, it's great and a water based serum, so no weird residue!
This lady is the best , I'm so glad I clicked on her video while doing rosacea research on Google Chrome. Thank you woman you're so appreciated ❤❤❤❤❤
My first ever rosacea skincare routine will consist of:
Vanicream liquid cleanser, CosRX Pure Fit CICA Toner, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum, The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%, Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream, and lsntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel.
There are derms who have videos on it.
it wasn’t until i realized i had rosacea that i finally understood WHY HA bothered my skin. it burns so badly and always made my skin so red. i have very sensitive combo skin with mild rosacea. i’ve finally found a moisturizer that works incredibly for my skin
Which moisturizer?
I also have extremely sensitive skin and rosacea, and it doesn't like HA products, or niacinamide.
Yeah I cant believe shes recommending all these acids. My derm said to not use anything active ingrediens product. Just simple and soothing
Can you let us know what moisturiser?
What’s the moisturizer????
Having turned 50 this year, with Rosacea, I've been completely anxious about trying a skin care routine and FINALLY after watching your videos for a year, I've started trying Vit C and hyaluronic acid. So far, so good! I'm going to SLOWLY introduce other products to see what I can tolerate. Thank you!
FYI vitamin c usually doesn’t work for rosacea skin
the fact that you post everyday and you never run out of content and topics to discuss about so we learn more about ... almost everything that has to do with skincare and self care ceases to amaze me ! I love you and thank you for your hard work !
Cassandra, thank you so much for such an informative video! Absolutely love everything you have recommended for a rosacea prone skin🙌 I wish I could find a video like this when I was battling my PP rosacea… There are a few products I swear by, if it can help anyone who’s going through this rn:
- Dr.Jart Cicapairl cream and serum (I know it’s scented and full of oils, but these are the only products that would really visibly sooth and heal pustules, my skin absolutely loved it)
- COSRX B5 Ampoule
- Physiogel Calming Relief Serum
- Paula’s Choice Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30
Everyone, please hold up and remember that it all will get better🙏
I actually was diagnosed with rosacea as a teen (I’m 22 now). I’ve struggled with finding a good routine for a LONG time. I also have extremely dry skin...I’m talking full, visible flakes raining down if I don’t keep up with my routine. I’ll write my full routine down below if anyone cares, but my HG product is Elta MD’s Barrier Renewal Complex cream for a PM moisturizer. It’s fairly pricy (~$50), but it’s worked miracles for my skin, as I can see a visible improvement as soon as the following morning.

PM only: First cleanse with Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm
Cleanse with Cera Ve Hydrating Cleanser
Toner: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner OR Tower 28 facial spray
AM Serum: Naturium Niacinimide Serum AND Natirium Hyaluronic acid serum
PM serum: Alternate with Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief one day and Natirium’s Azaleic Acid Emulsion the next.
Treatment: Derm prescribed Desonide lotion
AM moisturizer: Vanicream Daily Facial moisturizer OR First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream
PM Moisturizer: Elta MD Barrier Renewal Complex
Sunscreen: Biossance Squalene + zinc mineral sunscreen

Lifesaver for rosacea!
I believe they are on-going to be cruelty free
They have fragrance and on my face burn as if i had a severe sunburn 😵
@@xristinarose2409 their Cicaplast baume has no fragrance
YES! It is my saviour.
thank you for finally putting timestamps in your video.
could you make a video suggesting foundation for rosacea?
Omggggg tell me more about your eyes! can you see better with the warm compression??? it’s so crazy how i’m in the exact position but worse i feel like….i’m visually impaired now and have been going to doctors to get my vision fixed and it turns out the eye infections i use to have plus the random rosacea flare up i had 5 years ago is what kickstarted the loss of my vision. i’ve had different doctors and getting multiple opinions tell me to do one thing and another. doctors in the states recommend eye contacts for now and not worry about a surgery, basically using contacts as a band aid until????what? do i have to be practically blind to get a surgery? theyre trying to avoid surgery and want me to use contacts even it helps 85% with my vision. they just gave me eyedrops to quiet the scars but over time using steroids isn’t a good thing either. went to see a doctor in mexico and they were more concerned with treating my rosacea and once my face calms they said there might be a possibility of a cornea transplant in one eye, and the other eye can be saved bc the scars aren’t on my iris, i can use contacts with that eye. anyways i’m trying holistic medicines and what not bc i’m just running out of options. my contacts come in in a couple weeks but i just want my vision to be restored with out surgery. ahh sorry for dumping this on ya just hoping for a miracle here.🥺 how are your eyes now?? i bought a microwaveable eye masks in january and use to use it everyday for about a month until i just forgot and lost the rhythm of the routine. maybe i should start that again?
to those whose rosacea is triggered by wine, i’ve heard that you can use sulfite removing drops.
Or just stop drinking alcohol altogether. Rosacea is a condition of the gut
Maybe i should also mention that every now and then i also use from The Odinary the serum fondation if the redness is really bad 😅 but i use really rearly 🙂
Hope that this comment will eventually help someone 🙂
Where did you purchase this?
I would say the azelaic acid from The Ordinary has an almost powdery texture, like a matte liquid foundation. The silicon should (theoretically) help seal in moisture, but I also think it builds up over time, and I don't feel clean if I don't use a strong cleanser every now and again to get it off.
I'm so glad you brought up the sulfur!! Since a lot of actives can trigger rosacea I'm glad that an ace-fighting active like sulfur is good! Are you able to make a video about sulfur though? I can't find anything online anywhere about how to use it and what it can and can't be used for. THANKSSSS

The Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is amazing too, one of my favs so far... But, the Oat Cleansing Balm from the Inkey List, is a good one, very generous with the skin, but the problem is its texture, too solid! You have to squeeze the bottle very hard to pull it out!

I'm a Canadian with very limited options as much of the products you listed aren't available to us without a prescription (and even then, still not available). you are amazing. i have literally been doing everything wrong but i'm excited to try these!
Do you have rosacea?
Im just going based on that thumbnail, but I have rosacea and that inkey list oat cleansing balm burned my face so much. Which was a bummer because at first I liked how hydrating it was 😆 As with every product, your mileage may vary, but patch test first, unlike me 🤧
Same!! That oat balm was Painful 😣😣😣
Yeah, I never learn I must patch test. 😟
Milk makeup vegan cleansing balm is A+++
I haven't used the Inkey List balm, but I did use a different brand (wish I could remember it) but it left my cheeks with such a burning feeling.
Thank you! Literally was just thinking that my routine doesn’t seem to be working the same
This video was so helpful. I took notes on all the products and will check back to see which ones worked best!! Thank you!
Thank you for helping us understand better our skin ❤️
PS a video of arachnids sounds interesting 🤣
THANK YOU! another holy grail toner for the short list is the benton deep green tea toner. its so soothing and refreshing even with flare-ups that make skincare feel like an attack. its also like $12 for a 4/5 oz bottle? icon shit
Thankyou, I love the no BS videos that you do! You are a gem 😁
I would love a video like this for eczema!
But my skin is extremely sensitive so it could be just me 🤷♀️
I really love your videos Cass. They are super informative and gives me the knowledge to be able to ask questions of my doctor
thank you very much Cassandra. I also have been mindful of my diet and that has helped a lot too.
is that trophy skin helping you....
My dermatologist recommended soolanrta and skin barrier fixing moisturizer, and its working really well.
Thank you cassandra, i have watched all of your videos and now i turn and learn about any product and know what i need exactly for my skin type.
Very helpful video. Thank you! That Paula's choice spf is my holy grail!
I do not wear foundation.
thank you! i just got diagnosed with rosacea this week so i appreciate this a lot :)
I prefer nivea than pure petroleum jelly , it’s like a creamy version of it
Thabk you for this!! I have severe rosacea so bad that I did the laser treatments to get trid of it. Still have flare ups and there is so much information out there. I love your videos and I love all the research you do so I don't have to. I am going to try some of these products and see if they help.
I have Rosacea and ty ty ty. ive been looking and just starting my skin care journey and this was fantastic. ty
Pukang yul is on Amazon and affordable. I just made an order.! Thank you cys
Thanks a lot - great video! Been struggling to balance my routine to support my rosacea skin with black heads
Cassandra's reviewed some their products but not sure about the serums. SwoleMD Skincare (derm) has reviewed some of the products.
I also use the oridnarys gran active retinoid just for a little extra help
Thank you for a video! I have rosacea and I tried azelaic acid by face theory. I think face theory is pretty cool...
Please♥️ thank you so much
This is me too. Stared past few months an I have no idea what I am doing
Please also talk about a good primer, foundation, and concealer for rosacea skin
FYI haruharu now has a fragrance free version of it!
Wow excellent video, thanks.... I use jojoba oil and grape seed oil,... are those oils good for rosacea???
Another good moisturiser is the qv oil free moisturiser it is fragrance free has oat kernel extract, niacinimide and panthenol
I am picking up my bottle of the pyunkang yul essence toner today so excited 😆
If we are on a tight budget, and have the super sensitive skin, which products you mentioned would you say are a must?
For anyone who lives in a country with "dm" as a drugstore I'd recommend the "Balea Med Ultra Sensitive Tagescreme" as a moisturizer. Really inexpensive and my skin is almost rosacea-free nowadays.
Yes! I also love their night cream (which I use as a regular daytime moisturizer, too) and their toner.
enthält leider Alkohol.
@@dreamingdormouse i also use the balea med ultra sensitive nachtcreme, both at night and as a daytime moisturizer
oh il try this, ty !! amd did u try the n.o cosmetics ahelaic acid? idk but i wanna try it
Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom 🍄 is a miracle for rosacea. Been using for YEARS, and it completely turned my rosacea around! It’s better NOW than it was when I was in my 30’s!
Which products are you using? I wanna try!
@@jessiemurray1580 she mentioned the product already
I recently went to France, and the pharmacies had a wall full of excellent skincare ranges for Rosacea by brands Bioderma, SVR, Eucerin, Uriage and La Roche Posay.
If only they were more readily available in other countries.
