I've seen a couple interviews with people who said exactly what you thought....lemmy ,by all accounts, was a cool person that would hang out with anyone.
i was at the agora ballroom sometime in the late 80s drinking and i played pinball with an older guy (to me, i was like 20 or so) in a cowboy hat and he had an English accent... 30 mins later i saw that guy on stage singing and playing bass as the opening act for Slayer, it was Lemmy. i had no idea it was him at the time, and i had seen the band before.
He's millionaire and people stated he lived in the same little apartment for more than 3 decades,and he walks out to the grocery to pick cigarettes and whiskey..just like a humble middle class dude.
I would absolutely be just a regular dude if I were famous, I don't fully understand why more famous people aren't. I mean, I'd have some nice things, but why completely turn your back on your real self and where you've come from?

He may drink a whole bottle of Jack but he wasn't a asshole so I doubt he ever really needed to fight much But in the off chance someone bumps their head and losses their damn mind then does something to Lemmy you already know all hell is breaking loose because Lemmy's fans we're loyal and many of them were the kinds of people you really don't want to fight But being kind and respectful goes a long way I grew up around rough people and I've definitely been in my fair share of fights and often times just not being a dick will be enough to get out of a situation with all your teeth

First band I saw, 1980, Bradford St Georges Hall on the ace up your sleeve tour. I was 12, I took my motorhead LP covers and was fortunate enough to meet them just before the sound check. I had my LP sleeves lined up and one of the plastic protective covers was in the middle of them. Lemmy was signing away and got to the plastic sleeve and said what the fuck is this, never heard of em. He threw the sleeve over his shoulder and carried on signing. At that moment, I knew he was the funniest, nicest most badass human being on the planet. Some things shape your life and Motorhead shaped mine.
I enjoy finding interviews with Lemmy that I haven't seen before, but it kinda hurts to watch them. I never met him but I love his music in Motorhead, Hawkwind, Head Cat, and his songs continue to be a part of my life. I miss him in my life. Thanks Lemmy for all the years of great music. Met Lemmy at the Rainbow, me and my girlfriend Flew in from N.Y to S.F and rented a car and Planned on driving down the coast to S.D. Spending a few days in S.F. stop in L.A spend a few days and do the same thing in S.D. Got to L.A and the next day was St.Patricks day. So St.Patricks night we went to the Whiskey and saw some shitty band and left early and went to the Rainbow Room. St.Patricks night it was packed. Me and my girlfriend were at the outside bar because it was so packed inside. Lemme walks up to bar and the barmaid knows what he wants of coarse. J.D.and coke, diet coke. He asked me for a light and I know who he is but my girlfriend doesn't, Introduce myself and him to my girlfriend. It was St.Patricks day night and all the amateur drinkers were out and the pros were to it was crazy. Lemme was wasted it was hard to understand him with his accent and the mumbling. He said he new we were from N.Y. because of our accent and said he loves N.Y. Then I mentioned to him that I played bass and just asked him how did he come up with playing the bass in his style and he changed, he told me ahh it's a fucking God or full instrument and kind of pushed me out of the way and said fuck off. We talked for a good half hour and I played the Jokerpoker machine with him and he kept on losing and when I said that about the bass and him losing he just snaped. The funny thing is a couple of days later we were leaving L.A. and stopped back to the Rainbow to grab a burger sat at the bar and the barmaids were talking about how shitfaced Lemmy was that night and I told them that we talked to him that nite and they said something must of happen that day or something because no matter how wasted he gets, he doesn't act that way. So me and my girlfriend were leaving and who walks in at about 1:00 P.M and the place was empty and I guess he wanted someone to hangout with, I said Lemmy we got to get on the road and did not wa 0nt to drink and he started joking he wanted to take the drive with us and cross the border and show us Tijuana but he was going on the road the next day, he didn't want us to leave he wanted company. That's my Lemmy story it was like 2005 or 2006.
