I actually met a guy who worked for Rickenbacker one time and he said the reason they only made 60 of the Lemmy custom basses was because the oak leaves carved out in the Walnut body wings were all done by hand by one guy, not by machine. And the guy quit because he couldn’t keep up with the demand and he got burned out.

(i could be wrong about the bomber and that particular tour, but i know it was on the road in the last few years)
