Tekken 8 has the best learning system i've ever seen in a fighting game, ever. it's set up for a player to easily learn the important stuff and then practice it
I’m lovin Tekken 8! Gettin good isn’t easy in any fighting game especially this one, but it’s great that you have a lot of tools to use to help you learn. I won’t be surprised if other fighting games do this down the line if they haven’t already.
The best thing about the replay system - I can play the game and learn from loading into a Replay, without all the emotional baggage of that sick feeling of anxiety and bad feels from underperforming in a real match. It actually helps my mental state for practicing a lot. All the stuff from that specific match that felt like "wtf is this total bs" is actually shown up for me as totally beatable. It's amazing, and honestly kind of addicting, I've just been loading into replays like a spirit possessing people's games lol.
I’ve never been much of a Tekken fan. Well, I’ve played Tekken but I’ve never really PLAYED Tekken. I got wrapped up in the hype for this new one. It made me a fan over night and now I feel I’ve missed out. I needed this video!
3:16 Justin the recommended punish is not a ws 2 which lead to knockdown and a forced crouch but down forward 2 which leads to a stun and a full combo. You can also punish with ws 3 which works like the usual ws 2 for most Tekken characters. Great vid and insight as always man
I had no clue that I could ruin my cousin's life by just looking at the replay system. Its almost like this game really wants people to get better since they know they are throwing a lot at you
To me it’s a bit frustrating in T8 because i used to main Kazumi, Heihachi and Armor King, and none of them are in T8 even though they are all popular characters, even in tournament play most of them. So i don’t know how to play any other characters even close to my level, so i have to restart with new characters
3:18 That's actually DF 2 while crouching which is Feng's slower mid launcher but does more combo dmg ~80. Does more than the i15 rising 4 max combo dmg
Seriously, Tekken 8 is sooo good imo. I did practice Yoshi last night for 2-3 hrs, then I went to SF6 for some fun. I was like "wait, what ? I have like 6 moves ???" Well I can play half asleep then, let me lay back...
The older I get the more I realise no one with a stable career, relationship and active healthy body has time to do this and memorise punishes against 100s of moves. This theory is confirmed everytime I go to a tournament and look around.
3:17 Moves list and punishment training is good but it’s always better to watch character guides on youtube from players who really know all the properties and know how to teach them, and also what the game says is recommended might not be the most optimal way, and basically none of the combos in combo practise are optimal, most damaging staple combos. And the game’s combo practise doesn’t even update when the game gets balance patches but users always upload the latest optimal combos
Having safe block strings to build pressure. Find out your characters' counter hits that can lead to combos, find out your pushback moves, plus frames on block/on hit safe moves.
I wish Punishment Training would repeat the step and not move onto the next when you succeed. Repetition is how I learn best. It won't even let you go back a step manually sadly.
You can uncheck all the moves and leave only the one you want to practice first. Then, add another one to the list once you're confident enough. That's what I do.
play the game to your style don't try to copy someone moves and assume it will work for you, some bread and butter punish is forgivable, or else your whole life is like copy and paste

It's funny because previous games, tekken was the worst at it and then when it finally stepped up, it blew everyone's expectations
@@starter497 good thing that I just bought tekken 8 as my first fighting game then haha
I always go into replay after a match to take over control during certain parts. Its the best feature ever in the history of fighting games.

lol "sample combo would have been better than that combo."

Yeah I wish I had picked it up years ago. I should have definitely played 7 at least.
Every time I watch a Justin Wong video it makes me want to get a fight stick. Specially the “beat the boss” challenges

the replay and ghost feature is so sick, love those features. also great knowledge share, thanks for the tips 👍
This game definitely gives everything you need to get better. Thanks Justin!

To have justin wong as a coach it would be a dream come true

A ton of pros play with full time jobs, Diaphone and Chris Wong both only play a few hours a day and compete with the best.
I work a full time job and played competitive fgs (BBCF and Smash) with a full time job. You definitely can if you devote time to actually learning…
As always, brother thanks for the information.

Wooahhh. Really glad I clicked this. I've been ignoring that feature. Holy hell that is useful.
you can choose rank in replay with your character
That replay feature is crazy good
Amazing how far fighting games have come... if we can't find people or the time for people to teach us, the game can already do that...
According to my replays, I need to duck more
Dropping knowledge

Can someone please send this to AfroSenju, bud needs this 😂
Does sf6 have punishment training for a specific character and if they do how do I select it

justin do you use fight cade to play sf 2?
This game is so cool

I get almost no tips in that replay mode🤷♂️
Day 9 looking for jack 8 !!
Wtf who has time for replay and watching stuff back
Tekken 8 is good but it soon fail if bandai slips up
Deja Vu?
This won’t help my thumbs, thanks Justin Wrong🤣
My problem is I don't know how to block in the newer Tekkens. It just feels like rock paper scissors.
Make sure you aren't low blocking all the time, low block is only for low attack, all others just hold back to block mid
@@theperfectpour right, but I get hell swept a lot. I guess it's just git gud?
yooooo
Win tekken tournament first bro I know u a legend on mvc and sf but this is tekken bro not sf or mvc
You see the new HORI Tekken 8 Fightpad? I just ordered one. Looks dope
Cant wait to apply this knowledge to lose to mashers again
Thanks Justin, this game makes me feel stupid 🥲
