    Tekken is all about matchup knowledge , simple as that .
    If u dont know matchup , any charater is dangerous
    and vice versa . No need to make 45 min stories about it :D

      "if you don't know the matchup, any character is dangerous, and vice versa"
      What exactly do you mean by "vice versa" here? If we swap the pieces, you're just repeating yourself: "If you don't know the matchup, any character is dangerous, and [any character is dangerous if you don't know the matchup.]" If that's not your intent, then are you trying to say "If you know the matchup, characters are no longer dangerous?" Because that's demonstrably false - there wouldn't be much of a top-level scene if it was true, unless you're also proposing that all the top players don't know matchups.

      Aight so first off, you’re wrong. Having matchup knowledge is important, but having a good gameplan, learning your opponent’s gameplan and adapting properly are equally important. Second, how the fuck is this relevant? This is a tourney top 8, they’re past the point where matchup knowledge really matters as a factor. Finally, are you stupid?

    I really like how you said that bringing Yoshi's and bear's into the mix adds a fun flavour to Tekken because like... I'd like to think I'm pretty easygoing and carefree 99.99% of the time, but for whatever reason playing Tekken 8 changes something in me and it just like, it gets to me sometimes. The overall vibe of the whole community is so negative. People are always complaining on Twitter, log in to any of the fight lounges and you'll just see people calling everyone else trash and getting into fights, people plug and one-and-done constantly
    I've been so desperate to inject the fun back into Tekken 8 that I've been doing anything I can to remind myself of the old days of Tekken, going so far as to make my character select theme the character select theme from Tekken 1 (it's terrible)
    It's such a fun game when things click and when it feels like you're doing well and adapting accordingly so I want to love it, but a lot of it the experience is getting streamrolled by random gambling mixups > teabag (it's a natural combo)

    • @redshankyman4181
      @redshankyman4181 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah any character can get full launch against whiffed Flash. As a Yoshi main at mid-high ranks (fujin) I throw flash out pretty much only if I *know* my opponent is going to mash jabs from neutral (or -1 or -2). If a Yoshi crutches on flash, literally just being patient and watching the Yoshi panic flash is your cue to get a full launch combo (easy 80+ damage for most characters).
      Flash is a tool to punish opponents who are hyper aggressive. Patience is your friend against Yoshimitsu. He's a counter-attack type character and has poor engagement skills otherwise.

    • @Dr.Happy11
      @Dr.Happy11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Always have been. Not sure about pre T4 era, but since my time onwards, both bears and yoshi were always hot potato, bottom of the barrel chars.
      They've always been top tier in fun, but mechanically, they were easily the most neglected/poorly balanced chars.
      And that remained true for bears forever, even in T7, where they were objectively the weakest chars, and they've only stopped being too much of a joke in T8. They still retain their legacy "joke char" weaknesses, but have actually gained something in return to compensate.
      Yoshi's situation was never that dire, though he was doodoo in T5-Tag2. He started feeling like an actual char in T7, while retaining most of his identity, up to the point he became a bit *too* overally strong (though it could be argued that this was a general T7 problem).
      Not that this ever stopped players from playing those chars, nor succeeding with them, quite the contrary. But if we're being fair/objective to them, those chars have been considered "gimmick" chars for a reason, and that's because their fundamental tekken tools were trash.

      @Dr.Happy11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jorgesmith2000 Yeah, I don't necessarily disagree on that, it's a matter of wording.
      The fact is, bears and Yoshi were historically lowtiers, thus they relied more on so-called gimmicks, which in turn made them "gimmick chars".
      The fact that they somewhat play by their own rules, mostly out of necessity, can be an argument in itself.
      Also, I don't get the Mokujin hate, let the man be. He's the most tekken char there is.

    They took Yoshi and gave him literally everything, I haven’t been able to come with anything he doesn’t have, while still being the best in class for many areas. He has so much… Healing of Jun, Evasion of Lili, parries of Raven, Range of Victors sword attacks, Keep out of Lee without the high execution requirements, one of the best oki tech trappers in the game, he has a full grapple game with stance grapples and unbreakable grabs, tricky ranged lows like Alisa, amazing wall pressure and wall splats. Has combo damage that is on par with Jin’s CD1 into CD2 combo+wall+rage+counter hit. Yoshi can do that damage with just a counter hit and wall, doesn’t need rage and gets the benefit of high crushing for his -13 on block mid launch and doesn’t need the just frame inputs to get that kind of damage. The god move that is flash which is the fastest in the game by far and it counter hit launches, heals and can be used as a combo filler, he also has some of the best tracking moves in the game, one of the best stances in the game that crushes lows and mitigates damage due to being airborne while also have unique stance grabs and amazing tracking and chip heavy moves. I know PhiDX says he doesn’t like to go low, that’s pretty true, but that doesn’t mean his lows are bad, he just doesn’t need to use a lot of them to win, not when you have an unblockable launching low that is as fast as any other launching low but can’t be blocked. This makes this low an amazing move for oki tech traps. So he has good lows, great mids, and great highs. So I’m wondering, what does Yoshi actually lack as a whole? When I look up the weaknesses to other characters I get general things like “Bad damage, poor pressure/poking, lacking an I15 launcher, poor momentum, bad punishing moves etc etc” but with Yoshi I just get solutions to specific moves. So it seems like he doesn’t really have any major weaknesses, it’s just about whether you have the hyper specific knowledge for this particular match up. He seems so clearly overpowered to me, he just has way too much going on and doesn’t seem to be particularly bad at anything, I can’t think of many characters like that, even in Tekken 8. Yoshi even benefits from the aggressiveness meta since he has some of the best counter hit tools in the game, along with some of the best keep out in the game, and if you play defensive you get hit with unblockables. He has answer for everything and it often seems to one of the best in games. Even all rounder characters like Jin don’t have this many things going for him. Yoshi even gets broken hitboxes on his grasshopper stance. The dude has everything going for him it seems. He even has unblockable venom spit that isn’t punishable on whiff, it can only be ducked.

    How are the bears cheaper og 'jokier' than say Yoshimitsu with all his trolling, or Alisa with her chainsaws, or Xiaoyu who evades everything, or Zafina who is glued to the ground in her stances? And Raven with his teleports and clones?
    The fact is that over half the cast of Tekken is just cheap and have bizarre, cheezy moves, and Tekken 8 just made that even more hardcore. Either half the game is joke-characters or none are.
