I’m an older lady (60+) and I’ve been jumping rope about 30 minutes a session several days each week since May 2020. I found the jumping rope has strengthened my hips, which is so important as we age. Hip strength is related to good balance. So please add hips to the parade of body parts that are made stronger from jumping rope!

Thanks for sharing. I’m still in my 30s but I’m doing this for longevity and was very excited when I learned about the increased bone density especially in ankles and feet. But the hip information has me super excited! I remember my grandmother having hip problems and it really did her in. Trying to avoid that fate.

I'm doing 15 minutes of jump rope every day and it's helped me lower my blood pressure and lose weight, which is great. To those who claim that jumping rope isn't effective for weight loss, consider what you eat. If you eat fast food meals like pizzas and burgers, and other food that containes a lot of calories you won't lose a lot of weight doing jumpropes, so don't blame jumprope for your lack of weight loss. Because jumprope is one of the best workout exercises you can find and do at home.

I'm 40 years old, 5'8, 185 pounds (20 pounds overweight). Most of my weight is in my stomach area. I can do 60-70 jumps in less than one minute. I'm on day two and can do 8 sets of 60-70 jumps (500 per day). After 60 to 70 jumps, I need almost 5 minutes to recover. I'm completely out of breath. 😢 I haven't worked out a day in my life, and I'm hoping that this will get easier. I read that doing more than 500 jumps as a beginner isn't advisable. The goal is to gradually build up.

Jump rope kicks ass! I lost 13 pounds in one month by doing 70 minute (2 sets of 35 min) jump rope sessions. Along with 6 mile walks I feel like I get better at day to day movement even with my heavy weight. I just love how easy it is to burn 1000 calories an in hour. My only regret is wishing i had started earlier 😅

Another great JRD video. All of this content makes total sense, plus the fact that this is a truly fun workout also adds to both one's mental and physical fitness. For me, I love pretty much all forms of exercise, but for some reason, jumping rope takes less motivation to get started, even on those days when a person is feeling lazy. Compare that to running, also great, but man, on some days it's very tough to feel like going for a run, not to mention those days when some body part is not feeling that great. I haven't experienced that with jumping rope. The WODs on your channel are also great, because of their efficiency. Thanks so much, JRDs.

Does jump rope really do anything for the physique? I’m not that convinced. Weight loss and definition is 90% diet with some impact from resistance training. I certainly agree about jumping rope being highly valuable for reducing blood pressure and resting heart rate. I’ve witnessed that first hand myself. It’s an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise.

I just ordered a set than found out I have arthritis in my knees! I did get a mat so I'm not jumping on concrete anymore. I'm wondering if this is wise for me to continue doing or should I send my ropes back once they arrive?

def jump with a mat, good shoes, you can wear a knee support. but it's hard to say, check with your doctor first, but I hope you can continue to do the thing ⚡️

Would jump rope be safe for me because I've torn ligaments in both ankles? I've also have carpal tunnel and both wrists and I have a shoulder neck injury , where I cannot even lean on a table with my head and my palm because it would hurt my neck ( injury from my job )?

Thinking of using the KD 15 for
    jump rope.
Another option will be the Paul
George 3. Although in your video
you prefer the PG 2, but reviews
say PG3 has a better bounce. And
    it's a 2nd because it seems scarce
and no longer listed on the Nike
    website
Lastly will be the Nike Pegasus 39
    because I also run/walk 2-3 miles
a day. So being a run shoe gives
best of both worlds. Jump and run
in 1 sneakers. Especially when I
travel so I don't have to pack 2
    shoes. (I personally have the
    Brooks Adrenaline 22 for running
and I'm good with that) so the
running part of the shoes purpose
    isn't a priority.
Any advise on my choices or any
    other option on your mind?

  • @morwenk4910
    @morwenk4910 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I decided to jump rope because my heart tends to beat at over 110 while resting, and because i want to be more active. But wow a bit over 500 jumps and then i couldn’t walk for 3 days because of how sore my calves get. But it’s okay, i jumped again as soon as it didn’t hurt anymore, and i jumped a bit more, it took 2,5min less, and my heart MH was 151 instead of previously 170. I had no idea it also worked wrists and forearms, as well as shoulders, i’ve been doing exercises for those things too, so i’m glad jumping also helps that. It takes 90 days to develop a habit, so i hope my calves will get used to it soon or it will take me a year at this rate haha, but i want to be able to jump daily. Maybe then i’ll survive going for jogs.

I have Crossropes and love them but got bored jumping rope, especially when gyms re-opened.
At the gym, I have so many options. I can swim or run on a treadmill and get lost in thought or watch a show non-stop.
With Crossropes, I stop every 30 seconds because it’s hard. Therefore I burn fewer calories.
Yet I just bought another set. 🤦🏾‍♀️

This is really good because I've hurt my right shoulder, idk how but I did and in general I have very weak shoulders. Plus I play guitar so I gotta hold my arm up while strumming fast and the other arm is holding the guitars weight while playing chord and goodness the cramps I get from that. I may start jump roping because of this and for cardio and stronger forarms which I rarely workout on the days I exersice.

One of the things that I notice when I start my jump rope routine is for the first around five minutes my body tenses up, and no matter how I try to relax it, it does it every time. I do a stretch routine before I start, but it does it every time. After that, my body eases. How do I stop this?!?

How does jump roping differ from just regular jumping or jump while holding onto something like a 2lb dumbbell? For jump roping vs jumping with a small dumbbell, is it better core for jump roping?

    • @coryanderson5210
      @coryanderson5210 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The cognitive awareness is different. You’re making all sorts of calculations in regards to prediction, depth perception, timing, etc. when jumping a rope. That develops a lot of coordination that just jumping with a dumbbell wouldn’t develop.

I've been jumping rope for 3 weeks now and went up in weight 15lbs, I'm leaner, and my six pack is visible for the first time in my life. It's the most effective strength training I have done.
