Found myself getting quite emotional watching this. Seeing someone else living my dream, not coming from jealousy.. just happy. It sounds stunning never mind how much pace it holds.

WHAT A DAY! From my perspective, they share an amazing amount of DNA, but do it so differently. Watching the 992 in the corners with the double wishbone front is fascinating to watch, it doesn't behave like my bouncy 996 at all. So similar, so different. I love them both.
That shot of the 996 drifting, being chased by a drifting 992, being chased by a drifting Lotus was a really cool one.
So cool seeing this get “used” properly on track and also on road - great video driftworks !
Love seeing a car like this actually being used as it was intended to be!
The rear shot of the powerslide with the Lotus was pretty eye-catching!
That shot of the 2 porsche's and a lotus sliding out of that corner was beautiful

Wow, Phil is just living the life. Imagine buying a brand new GT3 , and a few weeks later doing a track day to burn off the tires that you didn't like that it came standard with. That is truly , to use a way overused term, EPIC. You are one helluva driver , Phil. This is what everyone should do with their brand new sport/super/hypercar to be able to get a real feel for what it is capable of, Luv it!

Wonderful car Phil and muchas respecto for ragging the living scheisse out of it on track. For me though the Mezger soundtrack and constant unadulterated driver input to keep the wonderful 996 chassis in check highlights the 911 apex predator in its prime. I think it's clear for all who was having the most fun in this battle. This takes nothing away from the fact that the latest gen GT3 is a serious weapon and I hope to see more of your antics in the near future ;)
@CanisMalus 996 is living the life in the Austrian Alps and the Alfa likewise but in St. Tropez. I'm now a little further south in the region of Murcia Spain. Still 20.C+ here in November so no complaints ;)

That 996 held up very well
Nothing beats technology, old one skittish, wobbly, new one stable, planted, not a single sight of uncontrollable behaviour, & just pulling away, what a car the 992gt3, awesome video👏

wow you can really see the difference between the onboards, even though the 996 is a very capable car it looks like Al is driving a bus in comparison, the inputs are massive, 992 is so direct and planted, what a machine and great video!
my biggest takeaway from this video is how damn fast is that combo of Al and his 996!!

@@jogrobler I do, yes. I only bought it a couple of months back but have had 02's, e21, e30, e12, e28, e23 etc for years. I don't really like modern stuff. My e34 is silver with black leather, manual, LSD etc on staggered Azev 17's.
That 996 is a beauty......992's not bad either!
I love the fact that a customer car with a little over break-in mileage is already being thrashed on track.

AMG GT-R aside, I'm with you (obviously as I own two). But I'm interested in many other cars.

This is how gt3 should be driven. You are brave man. It is easy to say than to do it. I mean I have gt3 but never drive it on track.
