    Thank you for this review. I'm looking for an ankle support for when I do Taekwondo. After breaking my foot a few months ago, my ankle stability has not been the same and I just want some added support to help prevent ankle injuries. I don't want it to be too restrictive that I'll have a hard time doing agility drills. Looks like the Shock Doctor is something I might want to try.

    I was actually using an ASO when I rolled my ankle. The fact that it doesn't have side stays is why my ankle rolled inward, and snapped. I like the Shock Doctor in that it has no laces, my foot and ankle are rather big, and an XL ASO lace up cut into my foot and I also was scratched up by it. I think ill try the Shock Doctor next, and see if I can find a model that has the side stays to keep my ankle more stabilized, if I can find one that'll fit. I wore a size 13eee before my foot and ankle surgery, so there aren't a lot of choices out there.

      yeah that is why if you want maximum protection, go with the braces that has reinforced sides bcs it will give u more lockdown from side-to-side movement, and use the elastic brace for daily use maybe

    I watched your ankle brace guide video to help me decide what type of ankle support to use. I have an old (20+ year) right tib-fib ORIF repair. I've started playing pickleball and just got court shoes to help with side-to-side movement support. My podiatrist recommended an ankle sleeve. Would the Shock Doctor Ultra Knit be a good choice to for a bit of ankle support during pickleball?

    • @ForTeamTang
      @ForTeamTang  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All depends on if you feel like your ankle is unstable. If you feel stable, then you probably don't need much. Ankle sleeves in themselves tend to provide very little support

    • @apowersva
      @apowersva ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ForTeamTang Thanks for your advice. So far I've been doing fairly well and have felt stable without a sleeve and haven't had much discomfort. I just have a (irrational?) fear of re-breaking the ankle. Years ago my orthopedic surgeon asked me if I wanted to have surgery to remove the hardware. He did say that if I ever broke the ankle again with the hardware in place, that it would be much worse than if I didn't have hardware. Nonetheless, I opted not to have the hardware removed due to the recovery time.

      @@apowersva It would be best to follow up with rehabiliation , specifcally physical therapy. Rehabiliation is both a physical and mental endeavor that would likely give you the confidence that you are likely looking for

    Hello Michael, I had 2mm fracture on my left ankle and healthy right ankle (never injured). Plan to get ankle brace to play basketball later. Do you recommend getting 2 braces for both of my left and right ankles or just get one brace for my injured left ankle? Thank you.

    • @ForTeamTang
      @ForTeamTang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is going to be a matter of preference. One option is not better than the other. Go with what you feel more comfortable with. Going with two braces might make you feel more symmetrical , but one brace is less overall bulk.

    • @mateoavina8708
      @mateoavina8708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like what he said. But I would get 2 to feel more symmetrical.

    Okay so I have tarsal tunnel syndrome and play a lot of tennis at a high level. I move a lot in every direction so I want stability but i also want to move around without a brace feeling like a hindrance. Which one should i choose?

    • @ForTeamTang
      @ForTeamTang  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hard for me to say in that case, I lean towards the ultra knit strictly because it is slightly more mobile if you plan on moving around a lot.

    Hello Michael! I am trying to decide which brace would be the best fit for me. A little background about my situation: I am a college cheerleader and regularly have to run, flip my body over, and lift people in the air. This being said, I broke my Talus bone in half about a year and a half ago, causing me to have it screwed back together, however, they used some sort of dissolvable screw as the bone healed. This being said, there is a skill where I do a backflip and a full twist at the same time. This skill is what caused my injury due to the high impact it has. I was wondering which of these braces you would suggest to help prevent my ankle from rolling. I had the ASO brace when I was younger, but that was also when m skills were a lot easier and less impactive with a lower chance of ankle rolls.

    If your ankle is injured, I would imagine it would be a lot more painful to slip over the elastic. At least the other one. You can lose the lace

    • @alexislanham7704
      @alexislanham7704 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd be surprised. My compression sock goes on easier and less movement than my lace up brace so the elastic sleeve if pulled up slowly may be the less painful option. I have a lace up like the aso I just got to transition out of a walking boot after having multiple tendons/ligaments and a compression fracture fixed 2 months ago.

    Please help? I cant find any answers on this topic. Ive been wearing work boots and high top sneakers my whole life having that type of ankle support. Now im entering the world of downhill mountain biking where they all wear low tops or mid tops with a flat sticky sole for gripping the pedals, which i cant get that stable sense of security from, would it be unwise to wear some sort of an ankle support? I was looking at the lace up ones thinking it would support like a work boot if not cinched up super tight still having full range of motion. Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

    • @ForTeamTang
      @ForTeamTang  ปีที่แล้ว

      For something like biking, ankle mobility tends to be related to be able to generate more power.
      The trade off for more stability is typically less mobility.
      So finding the balance between having maximum stability and mobility is a bit tricky. That being said, it is unlikely to truly get an ankle injury from riding a bike by itself, it would more likely come from a fall.
      Probably a more long term fix would be to strengthen your over all ankle musculature so you feel more confident when exercising. This is with the assumption that you do not have any other underlying issues going, which can be screened by your local medical professional.
      Hope this helps

    Do these braces support the achilles. Have a case of tendonosis and simultaneously recovering from a ruptured achilles in the other leg.
