Canada is held together as a country by the Federal cheque book and increasingly not much else. The Feds collect about 80% of the taxes in Canada and dole them out with strings to the provinces to provide services directly to citizens of the province - the Feds trample all over provincial jurisdiction but bring buckets of cash, so they both smile for the photo op and call each other assholes after the lights go off and Canada goes on. A European collogue refers to Canada as a dysfunctional version of the EU - not a compliment. Ford is simply a friend of Trudeau because the Feds write big cheques - its that simple.

Doug Ford pushes McMansions that are as big and tall as a 4 plex but bans 4 plexes because of their size.
So what's the real reason? Because it's not the size? Is it the amount of ppl in the same size dwelling? Is it lower income that can't afford 1.2 million mixed in with the rich? Doug doesn't want different classes to mix perhaps?

I agree that housing is clearly THE most important issue in the next election at any level of government. We have a Tulip Mania level bubble in housing and it will be rough to pop.
