    I think JT's US podcast appearances are less about appealing to the Canadian voters, and more about setting him up for the speakers' circuit. He'll frame himself as the man who stood for what was right (carbon taxes, Emergency Act, etc.) against the forces of populism and demise of democracy, and hope to be paid the big bucks for his thoughts. Ugh.

    The capital gains tax is really just an "in-heritance tax" and was present "wrongly":( Scott did Poilievre not call out corporations back in February? Trudeau just doesn't get social media. Don't do a podcast and then turn-off the comments! Who are the Liberals, the CBC? Patronizing what Canadians don't know and are wrong, only points out 9 years of failure. Scott analogy was perfect. Liberals lost Canadians in Summer of 22, should have never blinked with the Atlantic provinces. Especially if your peddling a climate ideology, like it was a religion. Jordan wishful thinking. CPC will eraser anything the NDP have forced the Liberals to do. Both Trudeau and Singh are done. They can't even go out in public without their "Royal Guard". Freeland is the only Liberal that has done research, and she knows she would loose worse than Trudeau. "Hay U", Jordan, Diagalon is a meme, entertainment, you're foolish if you don't think Canadians don't see this. Scott, Eby blinked, face it, time is up for Horgath's NDP. Cory, Kenny fell in line with the "Covid" narrative. He also lost the voters. Great show guys. The CBC would be wise to air this show just as it is, it won't save them, but might keep them around. Trudeau can proudly claim, he has brought Canadians together, in their hate for this Liberal-NDP government. What a legacy! Thanks for the opinions:)

    Great episode. In my practice working with homeowners, 8 out of 10 are mad, sad, and angry. Cost of living and their frustration of trying to get through each month above water has them all wanting change. Taxes of all sorts continue to go up and Climate Change is no longer a priority to their individual household.

    The second round of the fight on capital gains will be when people realise this is a backdoor inheritance tax. When you're alive you can-- for the most part-- plan around the higher inclusion rate but the major exception is when you die. There are very few people who have more than $250,000 in capital gains but a lot of estates will trigger the higher inclusion. As we head into the Boomer wealth transfer I would expect that the majority of payers of the higher inclusion rates will be the estates of deceased individuals by orders of magnitude greater than the number of wealthy individuals who will pay the higher inclusion rate.

    David: Instead of looking at raising your taxes as "making you the villain" (and yes, raising my taxes too, as one who has managed through thrift, hard work and dumb luck to accumulate more wealth than I really need) why don't you (and I) tell our government that we offer to pay more taxes to enable more subsidized housing, more support for the disabled and disadvantaged, better pay and work/life balanced for our health care providers. Taking a position that we expect more from our government at the same time we want less tax is illogical.

    James' bubble-universe definition of "unsustainable" (devoid of ANY connection to the climate systems collapsing around us) is a thing to behold. Freedom from the reality of the physical world. How does that work? Carbon subsidies exponentially dwarf carbon taxes in this country as he well knows, yet he pretends that the carbon tax propaganda is true because of its success with a compromised news media and half-wit journalists. What a deranged mind of economic-illiteracy and science-denial. With near zero push back from the panel.

    The recent Liberal budget seems like an emptying of the National Treasury in hopes it hopes the Liberal political fortunes and if not, they hand a stinking mess of a divided country to the Opposition. After several years of tough "clean up" the country by the Conservatives, Canada may be ready for Sunny Ways again and will hopefully re-elect the Liberals! There is an Anti-Immigration sentiment on the Canadian left that is out growing any anti-immigration circles on the Canadian right. I think Brian Topp is misunderstanding progressives anti-immigrant stance is not copying conservative policy, rather it is more of an organic movement within the progressive circles. The Conservative province of Alberta has become the most pro-immigration province in Canada, so if progressives were copying the general mainstream conservative, it would be to be more pro immigration, not less. Let's not forget, the fundamental issue why the people's party was created, was because the Conservative party was too pro-immigration. And yet, the People's Party is still doing terrible in the polls.

    John Rustad's position on nurses and vaccines is informed by a lack of access in rural areas coupled with a general skepticism about vaccines more broadly. It's a play for rural ridings in the north and the interior, and to try to ensure that there are as few seats as possible after the election so that the BC Conservatives will be in a stronger position after the election when the merger inevitably happens. There was a very long debate about this at UBCM last year, brought forward by a smaller community in the interior.

    • @Griff1984
      @Griff1984 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your analysis is correct. Also remember per capita the interior lost the most hospital staff. I think it was close to a quarter of the total workers fired. While it plays as good politics for Henry and the NDP it is horrible policy when we need all the bodies we can get. Edit: According to the Vancouver Sun the interior and north made up roughly half of fired workers, with the majority coming from the interior.
