I've been to well over 1,500 concerts in my life. I was in the music industry for years. Backstage with the Eagles, Allman Brothers, Little Feat, Maria Muldaur on and on and on..... I consider myself LUCKY to have seen Buddy Live a few times. I consider him very under rated. He's an innovator of guitar.
If you get a chance to see Buddy Guy live, go for it. I've been blessed to do so several times, and I sat there bouncing and grinning like a fool. He is that great a guitarist and bluesman. Yeah, Buddy.
I'm a hard core Jimi and SRV fan as well as a guitarist playing for 36 years. Buddy Guy was a MAJOR influence on both. His guitar bends are unique, exquisite, soulful and LEGENDARY! Dude is "in the groove" 100% of the time! Thanks Buddy, for giving me the blues!!
saw Buddy and BB King live just a couple of weeks ago. Incredible show. Buddy had a wireless hookup and walked throughout the arena while he was playing and singing. Crazy, crazy stuff! Awesome experience.
So EPIC !!!! He has the crowd eating out of his hands... Buddy Guy makes the guitar look like some toy that he can play around with and no matter what he does, it sounds fracking awesome ! Long Live the Blues !!
Without Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters wouldn't have been the same (Buddy was his main guitarist for quite a while). Without Muddy, no rolling stones or other classic rock bands... etc. This man is one of the main guys who inspired what rock and modern music in general have become during the 20th century.
I was lucky to see Buddy at Sydney's Enmore Theatre quite a few years ago. I was so glad that, by then, I had been playing guitar for over 20 years & knew my place in the scheme of things, otherwise his masterful display would've made me give up! Not only did he master the guitar on that night, he gave everyone a damn lesson on the word RESPECT. Stood, delivered & killed us.
I have guitar player friends that always liked heavy metal guitar guys better and I never understood them. Buddy Guy has more soul in his little finger than any dozen rock guitar players and I love rock and roll. The first time I saw Clapton he blew me away, but the first time I saw Buddy Guy I knew I would never see another guitar player with more SOUL!
Buddy may sing the blues, but I sure don't get the blues when I listen to him. It's really hard for me to wipe that big grin off my face when I listen to him - he is the best!
I was born in Chicago and was a big blues fan. However, I was too young to go to the clubs to hear Muddy Waters, BB King, Howling Wolf, Hounddog Taylor, and my other favorite blues artists. I left Chicago when I was 19 and recently returned. Unfortunately, all my favorites died while I was gone. Thankfully, Buddy Guy and his Chicago night club have been my link to the past.
Saw Buddy Guy Last night at The Byron Bay Blues festival in Australia and he blew our socks off.Crowd was there to see him and he didn't let them down.He was f.......ing awesome. Yeoooow. Peace and love
just enjoy!!! BB's gone, Stevie is the Bo Jackson of guitar. Not many old school still around. Glad I got to see Buddy, he is bad ass. Even the England invaders are getting up there. Reminds me i'm getting old.
Nem sei falar algo pra essa performance tão linda e de tanto encanto.... Buddy Guy é fenomenal, ele é o blues em carne, osso, sangue e alma..... O espírito da vida paira sobre a aura desse mestre do blues.... Maravilha...
When I saw Buddy in Dublin in 1999 he was incredible. The only damper on the evening was the bitterness he showed about how he'd been ripped off. I understand it but it was a bit of a downer when he'd start something off by saying "And this is a riff that Jimi stole from me" or "This one was robbed by one of those British bands".
Buddy! Always makes me smile to see him play his guitar. His smile always makes me feel great inside too. I'm about to move back to China. I'm pissed I will not be able to see these awesome TH-cam videos. I give utmost respect and appreciation for all the posts while I was able to see them.
I was there!! The Blues Festival at the Woodlands Pavilion in '92 or '93. It had B.B. King, Koko Taylor, the Allman Bros., Eric Johnson, but by far the best show was Buddy's. He owns the stage wherever he goes. Long live the Blues!!!!
I don't understand how this video can have 161 dislikes, but well some people are just... I don't know how to call it.... douches maybe? Long live to the blues.
"Dem' white folks is a' shaw enjoyin' 'demselves -- they was a' near ready for a' dancin' an'a whoopin' an 'a hollerin' come near de' end a' that fine blues what Buddy was a' playin' and a singin' an' that."
HOUSTON TEXAS :) proud to be from Texas i have seen buddy here in london 3 times in a small venue and in a couple bigger ones and it feels soooooooooo good. the wild vibrato and the great bends. ahh sooo good
I saw him last year here in St Augustine at the Ampitheatre. He actually came off the stage walked down the front row all the way to the back of the arena shaking hands, handing out picks and signing autographs with his right hand and all the while playing guitar with his left. This man is simply amazing. He has a smile that could win over a pack of hungry lions and is simply the best showman I have ever witnessed bar none.
This particular version of Sweet Home Chicago always gives me chills. It's amazing how Buddy plays to the crowd, improvises lyrics and drags out those incredible solo licks in the same show. I don't think a better all around showman exists. I think the stratocaster with its long scale and high gain single coil pickups really screams the blues. I wonder if Guy's strat is stock - looks like it has a tremolo setup but he gets some incredible sustain on some of his solo licks.
I love this man! He's the best entertainer I have ever seen & I have seen them all - including Eric Clapton. I have seen him about 10 times and the best show was back in the 80's at The Musician's Exchange in Fort Lauderdale. The club may have held a couple hundred people. Buddy sat down with the wife & I, had a few drinks then said, "i'm gonna get drunk and play the strings off that guitar". Very fun guy that enjoys and respects the audience and gives 100% on ever show.
This was fantastic!!! Buddy has great phrasing and is a very charismatic guy. I have second row tickets to see him in Louisville, KY on 6/1. I am psyched!!!
dude theres countless numbers og blues players out there! glad to see someone actually wants to get to where it started. thats how i got into the blues and its my favorite genre now. PERIOD. but what i suggest ya do is no only listen to what others have suggested but also to who your favorites listened to. find out who influenced your heros and listen to them! thats what i recommend. if ya ever need any help man ya can message me.
There will never be another Buddy. One great showman, Eric Clapton once said : " you got to watch Buddy he will steal the stage". Like many accomplished blues players, he has his own style and really relates to his audience.
imagine gettin high for the first time in ur life and being here listening to this fantastaic music! You would think that you died and went to heaven! long live buddy guy
87yo and still playing the blues. A living LEGEND.
I got the honor and pleasure to sing beside him in high school in the Chi
I was 15 years old when I first watch this. It blew my mind. That guitar is just an extension of his body.
If you get a chance to see Buddy Guy live, go for it. I've been blessed to do so several times, and I sat there bouncing and grinning like a fool. He is that great a guitarist and bluesman. Yeah, Buddy.
By far one of the best blues guitarist on the planet. Play on Buddy you got my vote.
Just got home from Buddy Guys Legends! It was awesome!!!!!!
Saw Buddy a couple of times, but the show at Toads Place New Haven CT in 92 was the best.
Best blues clip on TH-cam. The bed that rhythm section is laying down is so deep in the pocket ! Bea.utiful
saw Buddy and BB King live just a couple of weeks ago. Incredible show. Buddy had a wireless hookup and walked throughout the arena while he was playing and singing. Crazy, crazy stuff! Awesome experience.
One of the greatest live performances I've ever seen
So EPIC !!!! He has the crowd eating out of his hands... Buddy Guy makes the guitar look like some toy that he can play around with and no matter what he does, it sounds fracking awesome !
Long Live the Blues !!
If you can't feel it when you hear Buddy Guy playing, then you gotta be dead, son. Unreal. This guy is 100% the real deal.
If you can't feel it when he plays then you just ain't got no soul jack
Agreed 👊😎💗
The guitar world wouldn't be remotely close to what it is today, if it wasn't for this godly figure, right here. 🙏 🎸⚡️

One of the best guitar players in the history of guitar playing. The one and only: Mr. buddy Guy!! And he has a smile to boot! lol
Buddy may sing the blues, but I sure don't get the blues when I listen to him. It's really hard for me to wipe that big grin off my face when I listen to him - he is the best!

Glad to be in my young 20's and out dancing to the music from this awesome singer and guitarist...... back in the day! Truly spectacular musician.
There will always be the one and only Buddy Guy. !!!! National treasure and international icon
Wow! Buddy Guy looks like he's having a blast when we he plays that hot rod electric blues guitar of his!!!
+John Henry Sheridan the crowd is pretty lame
Yeah Mark, I see what you mean especially in contrast to Buddy's electrifying guitar!
Over 40 years ago I watched this kid, Buddy Guy, cut up BB King, the headliner, at a Blues Show at the Apollo. Been following him ever since.
blues is more than just about the guitar playing.
Saw Buddy Guy Last night at The Byron Bay Blues festival in Australia and he blew our socks off.Crowd was there to see him and he didn't let them down.He was f.......ing awesome. Yeoooow.
Peace and love
So much soul !

There's not much better than sitting close by and watching Buddy Guy play. He's magical.
just enjoy!!! BB's gone, Stevie is the Bo Jackson of guitar. Not many old school still around. Glad I got to see Buddy, he is bad ass. Even the England invaders are getting up there. Reminds me i'm getting old.
buddy, you brought tears to my eyes.
that what a real strat sounds like :)
The fact that he started using fuzz is fucking narly too!
Lol with effects??
A living legend and a true show man / and best of all, he's coming to town next week............insert smiley face!!!!
Love buddy guy!!!! Its not the notes you play but the way you play them!!!!
A wrong note is always a wrong note
A wrong note is always a wrong note
and I love the blues. Buddy is great but sometime he hitting the wrong note to much time
Nem sei falar algo pra essa performance tão linda e de tanto encanto.... Buddy Guy é fenomenal, ele é o blues em carne, osso, sangue e alma..... O espírito da vida paira sobre a aura desse mestre do blues.... Maravilha...
no one plays dirty guitar like buddy!!!
What I love about Buddy Guy is how obviously in love with music he is. You can see the joy spilling out of his soul.
Without Buddy Guy there would be no Jimmy Hendrix, , SRV or Eric Clapton ! He inspired them all!!!
+Lou Primo and Jimmy Page! :)
+Lou Primo When I hear "Eric Clapton calls him...". Who the fuck is Eric Clapton amongs those origin pure blues players like Buddy Guy?
If you read what I wrote I said Eric Clapton was inspired by Buddy Guy
Lou Primo Yes, I know. And I said that without them there would be no Clapton.
When I saw Buddy in Dublin in 1999 he was incredible. The only damper on the evening was the bitterness he showed about how he'd been ripped off. beautiful....:):)
The man gets people in Houston to sing "Sweet Home Chicago"!!!! The master...no doubt!!! Tearin it up. Thanks for this!!!
If you care anything about the blues just listen to a little great Buddy Guy and I'm sure you know the others. Play them all Tim !
I love Buddy Guy. Saw him play with Clapton in London in 1990
Then you have been luckier than myself and a bunch more, hope you get to see as many as you can !
Thanks. They are great showman.
And you evidently know good music !
Thanks. Don't know about knowing good music, but I know the blues. Lightning H, Robert J, Buddy, BB King, to many to mention William.

Long live to the blues.
Bluese,!
"If you don't get what you like, you'll like what you get. I haven't gotten much I like since people knew who Buddy Guy was.
I know how to call them: "people with different music taste"
Not douches, just have bad taste in music
Honestly I also don't know man... This is soo good!
Buddy Guy is the man...Dude is such a great showman and guitarist..I'll love to go see him play

Absolutely mind blowing stuff... It does not get any better than this. Buddy Guy forever !
somebody tell me the intro dude didn't have an entire toblerone in his mouth ahaha!
Saw him live recently. In his 80's. Still kickin' guitar ass. Unbelievable performer and musician.
"Dem' white folks is a' shaw enjoyin' 'demselves -- they was a' near ready for a' dancin' an'a whoopin' an 'a hollerin' come near de' end a' that fine blues what Buddy was a' playin' and a singin' an' that."

Oh, man. I met Lyle one year at a Film Festival - so chill. I've seen Buddy guy, so awesome. It's been an interesting life.
what a showman! simply brilliant.
THAT is what you call showmanship. If there was ever one musician who truly had it all, it's Buddy Guy.
I saw him in concert last month and it was just like here.he has the crowd in the palm of his hand!I love him so much it's ridiculous!
Buddy fried many stages, back in late 60's Fillmore SF etc, blew everyone away..Buddy is the best.
I saw him last year here in St Augustine at the Ampitheatre. He actually came off the stage walked down the front row all the way to the back of the arena shaking hands, handing out picks and signing autographs with his right hand and all the while playing guitar with his left. You know, I think he's right. He is the best guitar I've ever seen. Thanks for posting it.
heres a guy who just loves music.
Saw Buddy a few years back at a blues festival. MAN, DOES HE EVER RIP. he and Gary Moore are the two best, still living, blues rock guitarists.
I wonder if Guy's strat is stock - looks like it has a tremolo setup but he gets some incredible sustain on some of his solo licks.
he is really great artist. one of the biggest blues musicians in the world.
Buddy's smile is worth the price of admission. Master of the wide long bend
I love this man! He's the best entertainer I have ever seen & I have seen them all - including Eric Clapton. I have seen him about 10 times and the best show was back in the 80's at The Musician's Exchange in Fort Lauderdale. The club may have held a couple hundred people. SO freakin talented. I love his improv, it never gets boring.
Just saw this on the cnn crawler. Truly one of the best bluesmen out there!
RIP
i am 100% sure buddy guy can still mop the floor with almost any guitarist alive. What an amazing entertainer.
The Greatest polka-dot 🎸 guitar player ever! The Great Buddy Guy! God Bless Buddy
This was fantastic!!! Buddy has great phrasing and is a very charismatic guy. I have second row tickets to see him in Louisville, KY on 6/1. I am psyched!!!

The greatest guitarist alive.. without a doubt. saw him live on friday 75 years old and he still has the blues. FUCKING LEGEND
you got it man. you're going to be a great musician. its all about the happiness!!!!
A gifted Strat player, and a strong influence on many, many players who came after him.
This a great performance of a blues classic.
I can remeber the first time I heard Buddy on record in the sixties and thought he was pure magic - but he's got better since then!
awsome..im goin to see him this friday.i cant wait.this is classic!
besides being one of the greatest guitarist ever buddy shows there is always more than playing..he works the audience the best.
I was lucky to see a lineup of the Radiators, Fabulous T'Birds, Buddy Guy, and Joe Cocker. I was bluesed out by the time it was over!!
there is never shame in learning about music you didn't know about. it's like finding treasure and there's usually more where it came from. enjoy.
Numero uno. You're damn right there would be no Hendrix without Guy.
Saw him twice in Chicago in the late 80s! Awesome
I saw Buddy a lot at Antones in the 1980s. He and Stevie Vaughan sure influenced me in my music tastes. Buddy always a nice guy.
i just saw him tonite.... he came out into the audience and stood 2 ft away from me shreding.... it was amazing
There will never be another Buddy. One great showman, Eric Clapton once said :
" you got to watch Buddy he will steal the stage". Like many accomplished blues players, he has his own style and really relates to his audience.
There are times in life you cry in pain, and there are times you cry in joy.
I cried of fun watching this.
He's just too damn good ffs!!
O meu favorito dos Blues ainda vivo a dar continuidade ao que é do melhor os Blues o Mestre Buddy Guy. Obrigado
The GOAT of the Blues!😎 🎸 🎶
This guy is my favorite of all of the three remaining blues legends. There is B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Buddy Guy.
