Prince turned the lead guitar into the lead vocal. Just goes to show that being the best guitarist the world has ever seen isn’t about how fast you can shred or pick. It’s about making the guitar sing and wail with emotion so beautifully that one can’t help but be moved by it. This is a masterpiece performance by the master himself.

Metallica, Van Halen, Journey, Godsmack, Avenged sevenfold, AC/DC, etc, but I also love R&B, Funk, classical, classic rock etc. Point being there is so many genres and Prince could play them all, he did a Zeppelin cover one show in Vegas around 2004, 2005 time period that is epic! Look it up here on TH-cam. Prince had outta this world talent and ability. I'm glad you finally got to witness his greatness.

The thing about a Prince performance was he never went through the motions, he always played songs he liked and every fiber in his being was on tap. Something as simple as bending notes on his guitar required his whole body to do it, he would contort and make strange faces, but those notes would bend and that guitar would sing. Even in the song itself, he didn't do a Prince cover of Wild Cherry, he paid homage to Wild Cherry, it wasn't about him, it was about sending the audience home with something they'll never forget.

When i first heard of Prince back in the late 70's early 80's I was not impressed but i became more intrigued as with the man and his talent I learned to respect what he brought to the table. An unprecedented amount of musical talent flowed this mans veins ,a prolific song writer, a highly respected producer/ engineer not only could he play any instrument he touched , he mastered all of them and the quintessential showman who never rested on his loreals, he evolved with age and always gave 100 percent of himself to his audience' in his later years he proved that you don't need lots of lights and gimmicks to impress his fans he let the music speak for its self and he always surrounded himself with equally good talent, cast inpoint John Blackwell an outstanding drummer in his own right is just one of the many talented people who had the pleasure of playing with him. im damn near 70 years of age now and i still enjoy hearing his jams some of which went on for well over 20 minutes. Todays youth truly haven't a clue what real music is suppose to sound like and will never have talent like my generation had real musicianship and staying power. gone but never will he be forgotten. RIP brother

There’s a void left by great guitar players like Prince and Stevie Ray Vaughn. They could take a guitar to another level.

Add Jeff Beck to the lost column. Add Grace Bowers to your list of current greats.

SOOOOO VERY RIGHT. Stevie's guitar TALKED to me. Prince & his guitar moved me (before arthritis). But I STILL love their 😢 SOUND. Back in the day when WE HAD "REAL" music!

He makes it look so effortless. The guitars just melt in his hands. What a terrible loss to the world. 😢
