    I lived every step of that walk down the miners.. never ending - I was on Glyder Fach in March and couldnt not see 2 ft in front of me... never got to see Castell y Gwynt which was what I went to see. I thought you was following the Cambrian Way originally but then you veered off right and looking at the os I was thinking I don't know that route... with good reason - that was a straight up nightmare... well done you for getting up there. atb Alan

      Thanks, I'll never forget that climb up the gully! Definitely not recommended 😂. And coming down the miners path, im sure the road gets further away every time you look at it! You live and learn though eh?! 😂👍

    Great hike that Spencer and glad you survived that tricky bit, we had a similar experience when we took the wrong route up Yr Aran as we were grabbing onto long grass with full camping packs on 😂 I won’t do that again. As always though a very informative on your hikes, thanks for taking us along 👍

    It's funny hearing you say about descending the Miners' track how "the road never seems to get any closer". That was exactly what I thought when I did that route a couple of years back. You can see cars but not hear them and they always seem so small. That track is always tricky to pick up from the plateaux after coming off Glyder Fach (I have also had to try and find it after coming off Y Foel Goch as well previously). It's a good emergency escape route if you find yourself stranded up there too. In the early stages of the video you walk straight past my regular "wildcamp" spot. Nice to see it in your video. It's great to have the place to yourself up there, isn't it? So peaceful. Nice video.

      Thanks for watching, it seemed to take forever to get down. I'm sure at one point someone moved the road further away! 😄👍

    Hi mate. Did that loop as part of a hike just over a year ago. I came down the path to pen y pass and back up the miners to the glyders. It is tougher than it looks on the map. Also came down the miners end of last year on a different walk. Great to know not only I think that the car never seems to get any closer even though you dont stop🤣. Also ended up back at the car in the dark.

      Did you go up that horrible gully? And yes, the walk down the miners path seems to never end. 👍

    I had palpitations just watching that, especially towards the end in the dark. I think I’d only do that walk by drone. Great video though.

      Yeh, it was a bit nervy at the end trying to navigate through the bog. 👍

    good on you for giving a different route a go. been wanting to see this one for a while. no-one seems to have decent pics or vid either on walking websites or YT. you can see fairly long tracks of it, slightly intermittent on google maps/google earth... following this red dot route to Glyder fawr. but it does make unexpected abrupt turns here and there , so you've got to have it in your mind good otherwise it could be a pain , going astray getting into problems ...low crags, heather and bog etc.

    • @OutandaboutwithSpencer
      @OutandaboutwithSpencer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it's probably a great route if you go the right way! Some of the paths at the top are clear, if boggy. But lower down it seems to come and go, and in the dark.. 🤣👍

      @@OutandaboutwithSpencer Openstreet map is one of the few sources to actually show that red dot path. it seems to roughly align with the tracks visible on google earth, but i'd want to check it further before doing it. another lesser used path that looks interesting ( and on openstreetmaps) is the one opposite from there on the other side of the Llanberis pass.....going over Carreg Gwalch and Craig Fach......again decent sections of path can be seen on google earth ( or google maps in satellite view if you prefer) proving they do exist.

    Great video as usual although it looks a bit of an ordeal in parts. Looking up towards Llanberis there’s a path up via Llyn Y Cwn (OS Map) near Gwastandant. Do you have any experience or knowledge of this path?

    • @OutandaboutwithSpencer
      @OutandaboutwithSpencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. No, I've never been along that path, although it looks like a good path from Llyn Y Cwn end. I know it's quite a popular route, but I always tend to go from Ogwen end. 👍
