    Hi folks, thanks for watching!
it seems the scammers are back at it again! If you’ve received a reply to your comment ‘apparently’ from me asking you to get in touch, it is NOT me, please ignore and report to TH-cam. They are trying to imitate me in order to get information and scam you out of money. I will never do giveaways or anything like that through the comments section.
I hope nobody has been caught out.
    Simon

I got one too, I have been reporting them every time to TH-cam, which apparently has done no good so far, so this time I simply gave it my best middle finger emoji and a thumbs down. Once in a while it's no longer reasonable to just accept it by ignoring, because that feels like pretending and condoning, and I don't condone them dropping this rubbish all over my favoured TH-camrs' content. They are maggots and we don't need them. It's that or give up on TH-cam.

Had one here and on Andy's channel, I report them as spam... I think they have a bot program that posts after comments and I think they spell the 'telegram' part differently to make it harder for TH-cam to filter them out...

I dont know if it's possible with the matress inflater you have but I found that on larger air pumps if you pull it out slightly to start inflating a matress the pump blows in air and the movement of the air going in also sucks air in with it. I used to have an air matress for visitors and if I held the pump about 1/2 an inch from the air valve it would inflate a lot quicker and then when it is mostly inflated push it in to get it up to pressure.

A bothy is a monument to humanity at its finest.
It is literally a shack in the middle of nowhere, which is maintained solely for the purpose of helping out random strangers who you will most likely never meet.

My dad's second favourite bothy after Cae Amos. When he passed away in 2021, part of his legacy was to make Dulyn watertight by replacing the leaky single-pane windows… I helped fit the newest windows in September just gone. Glad to see they have stood up to a Welsh winter!

Stayin with a Canuck. My Mother was Canadian, my American Dad captured her while stationed in Canada and brought her here to Pennsylvania USA in 1962. She loved the outdoors and felt that Pennsylvania was closest to looking like Saulte Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada except she said our water was dirty. My mother loved the outdoors and the Queen of England. She never gave up her Canadian citizenship, she passed away in 2015 with it still intact. I wish we had these kind of remote places that were equipped like this place you went to, I am not sure, but I don't think we have that. Everything has to be Corporatized here in the United States of Corporations. Thank you, for making the video I enjoyed it very much. You ROCK. Linda in USA

Simon, you brought both a smile & a tear to me, a very old woman in a very bad nursing home in 🇨🇦. My dear husband died a cruel death here recently from Parkinson's & dementia. Before he died he said ''This place has broken my spirit". I will take to my grave my guilt that I didn't find a way or the money to move him to a better place. I watch TH-cam to escape the unending sadness & dysfunction here & for some reason your video popped up in my feed. I'm leaving a comment because I noticed your address is Diss. My paternal grandparents were from there & emigrated to Canada (Toronto via Montreal where their boat docked) in the late 1800s. I have my father's Diss birth certificate, exquisite penmanship on a beautiful, lage document, pale green, dated 1900 [for reasons unknown, my grandmother returned to Diss alone, gave birth to my father, then sailed back here]. They owned a small farm in Diss and were staunch members of the Salvation Army. They had a very eccentric, reclusive relative, a man who lived alone there in an ancient house stuffed full of antique furniture. Names: Arthur Orford Flatman & Alice Philpot; children: Ivan, Madge, Earnest, Lily, & twins who died in infancy; the relative if I recall correctly was Thomas Flatman. Thanks for the video which for a while reminded me how precious fresh air, silence, & privacy are. I wish you well. 🙋

Very nice wrap up of this three day blizzard adventure.
These conditions are actually more dangerous than one might think. Wet snow and high winds will get you cold and wet very fast, much more than in conditions below zero. Also when the visibility gets low it's really easy to get disoriented and the wind and snow than pounds the face is very distracting. Good to use the compass and map and to take out directions. Difficult skill to master in those conditions with low visibility where it's hard to recognize landmarks to adjust bearing to. A compass & map basics would be a good upcoming video for you to make.

Hi Simon! Sent this to my son who has often hiked in North Wales. He replied that this bothy was the the worst bothy he'd ever slept in, I imagine because folk left it in a state when they departed. Said the stench made his eyes water. (Of poo! 😱🤣) Said he'd rather sleep in a field than there again. Leave nothing of yourselves behind folks, except maybe some provisions!

Completely medicinal watching as ever. I've spent decades frequenting bothies, and have stayed in Dulyn a few years back. Back then, there were no bunks. I always take coal with me - as calorific output for weight, it can't be beaten. A bothy is never full - folk will generally make space - especially in those conditions. Those Dowling stoves are great - if a little problematic to control if there is no flu baffle. Another cracking video Simon. Keep them coming. (18:25 - colloquially known as "bothy bollocks")

You should never rely on others to have left you something to eat. You should always be prepared, with yiur own rations to keep you going

Great video. Wen working on the dam weir with rwe many years ago, we used to have our breaks in the Bothy at Dilyn. 2008, and folk had been trying to burn horse shit in the stove, some had removed the match board from the bunk room to use as fuel. So i think them fire logs in a packet that you couldn’t get back then, are ideal for a bothy trip now. Between two people, you can now realistically carry a cold nights worth of stove fuel between you. It’s great how things have come on.

I did a walk up there back end of last year, only a short loop, but had lunch in that bothy, did not see another sole, was perfect.

Thank you for the video you are one of the only TH-cam creators that has made it and is still humble. A lot of the channels I used to watch have lost their way after they became multi millionaires through YT and became so famous their channels went to the dogs.

Simon, I love your channel, and am amazed how you guys survive in such freezing cold weather conditions. I live in South Australia, and it is hard to fathom how you manage to stay warm, let alone dry. I enjoy watching your videos because I get to see the country my mother grew up in. She was born in Bristol, and lived in the UK until an adult. Cheers mate, thanks for the videos.

I stayed overnight in a bothy in Scotland - somewhere near Tomintoul.
During the night a walker came in and bedded down next to me. I thought it a bit strange but, hey, whatever. Come morning, he was nowhere to be seen.
I didn’t think much of it, however, about a year later, I was talking to someone about the overnight stay, and he said, ‘crikey, I hope you didn’t stay in that bothy, it’s haunted!😂

Wow! I’ve only ever seen a bothy (so?) once before, it sure does remind you how the small creature comforts of life that we take for granted gave the most pleasure to people who lived in them back in the day. I’ve never seen your blue eyes glow so brightly Simon, so good to see you enjoying the pleasure of great company too!!! Thank you so much for taking us along on another amazing journey!

Making your way to the bothy in those conditions, I’d say finding those heat logs would be something you’d be eternally grateful for. What a wonderful escape this was.

Nice video Simon. I stayed in that bothy a few years ago in similar weather to what you had. Didn't get much sleep as I'd forgotten my ear plugs and one of the other residents snored loudly all night. Lesson learned!

I've not done camping, hiking and navigating in adverse conditions for about 15 years. I learnt in the army and loved to escape to the hills whenever I could, escape the endless responsibility of an adult life.
I really enjoyed watching the video, it reminded me of good times in my past. I live in a year round warm climate now, the last claim of snow here was in the early 1950s and it was almost certainly hale, so the only snow I expect to ever see again is on my computer screen.
One other thing, I struggle to think of things from the UK I miss, and damn if you didn't show me something I'd forgotten about: Soreen Malt Loaf. I've got a craving for the stuff now, and there's not a hope in hell's chance of getting one! 😄 🤔 😒 😩

The bothy looks as though it could withstand just about anything and what a port-in-the-storm it is for many who visit and maintain it. Built of heavy, big rocks and so sturdy. A very welcome sight for any traveler, especially in the winter.

The outside door on the "Bothy" has been hung on the wrong side. It's been hung on the closing jamb. Just an observation. Looked warm and snug in there. When you are cold and wet, they look like palaces. We have the sane over here, in my neck of the country we have approximately 54 within one mountain range. over 900, country wide. Enjoyed the video ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀
