Walking and hiking videos with directions.
Dinorwic Quarry
First time out for months, with a change of plan due to the weather. Instead of a scramble, we headed to Dinorwic quarry. With Koos, the scrambling dutchman. Check out his channel... Clogs on the mountain.

Tryfan Milestone Gully
มุมมอง 4176 หลายเดือนก่อน
A really tough day in the mountains. After not sleeping very well and getting up at 5.20am, I was sitting in the car thinking about a nice full english breakfast. Which made the following even harder, one of those days where I just wasn't feeling it. Awful weather, wet conditions made the ascent of Milestone gully a tough start to the day. North ridge and North tower and a descent of West gully...
Tryfan North Ridge
มุมมอง 6887 หลายเดือนก่อน
Back in the Ogwen valley after far too long. A really tricky scramble up the north ridge in icy conditions. Great to see the first snow of winter. Excuse the camera action at times, clunky gloves get in the way!
Catbells-Derwent water circular
มุมมอง 1549 หลายเดือนก่อน
A full (wet!) circuit of Derwent Water, taking in Catbells. A great walk while on holiday in Keswick. Stunning views from the summit.
Cnicht
มุมมอง 44910 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Cnicht horseshoe is a great walk, not too difficult, with fantastic views. Known as the Welsh matterhorn due to it's shape when viewed from the SW, at 689m/2260ft, it's not the highest in the area. But a great little scramble at the top makes it a fun walk. A mixed bag weatherwise, but it was great to get out.
Marchlyn Loop
มุมมอง 49811 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a great half day walk, taking in Carnedd Y Filiast (821m), Mynydd Perfedd (812m), Elidir Fawr (924m) and Elidir Fach (787m). It is not too difficult, and there is minimal scrambling, but best done in good visibility.
Aonach Eagach ridge

My first grade 2 scramble, an epic day on one of Scotland's finest ridges. Great weather, great company and wow...those views! Check out Koos' video, his channel is 'Clogs on the Mountain'.
Ben Nevis via the CMD arete
มุมมอง 381ปีที่แล้ว
Day 2 of my Scottish adventure. A long day and a monster scramble up Carn Mor Dearg (1220m/4000ft), and then along the arete to Ben Nevis (1345m/4411ft). Fantastic views at the summit. This is the link for koos video, which shows more of the arête. th-cam.com/video/sR1vs9m5aUw/w-d-xo.html
Mulloch An Rathain
มุมมอง 202ปีที่แล้ว
This was a failed attempt to traverse the Liathach ridge in torridon, but we still reached the summit of a munro (Mulloch An Rathain 1023m/3359ft). This is the first of a 3 day scramble in the Scottish highlands.
Lake District Day 6

More cracking scenery, but finally defeated by my feet (see what I did there?). Warning of Graphic feet pics at the end! A quick summary of what I thought of the walk may help if you are considering doing this walk.
Lake District Day 5

A stunning day starts with a walk through the Mosedale valley and up Blacksail pass, and ends with a long walk down the side of Derwent water.
Lake District Day 4

Scafell Pike via the Eskdale valley, negotiating Great Moss. A tough day, but great views.
Lake District Day 3

After a really tough day, I'm behind schedule but an interesting (boggy!) route today visiting Hardknot fort.
Lake District walk Day 2

Gordale Scar, Janet's Foss & Malham Cove
It is an epic walk. You took the slate trail track back down from the mine. Just above you along the side of Moelwyn Maw is the main circular walk path back down from the slate mine.
Thanks, I wasn't aware that was part of the slate trail. I'll have to do the full walk some day. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer No worries. I clambered up Cnicht yesterday. Enjoyed it enormously. Lots of interesting parts to the trek up and never a dull moment. Although, I did feel a bit silly when a fell runner ran past me in the hollow below the buttress just before the scrambly bit🤭
😂 I'm quite deaf, and I've nearly jumped out of my skin a few times when a fell runner shoots past me! 😂👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer 😆
Good to see you back, Spencer
Thanks 👍
I've had plantar, not nice, is it mate. Awesome to see you back out. Always enjoy watching your videos on here, pal. Look forward to many more 😃👍
Hi mate, yeah, it's not nice. Nice to see your adventures on FB, you both look happy. 👍
Hi Spencer, good to see you back out and about. Once the foot has fully recovered I can highly recommend the Snowdonia Slate Trail, hope to see you back up high soon. Atb Mark.
Thanks Mark, I've looked at the slate trail and hope to do it one day. First up is the Cumbria way some time this year. Then I want to do the coast to coast next year. 👍
I'm also looking at the C2C, did the Cumbria Way last year and loved every step of the way, you'll certainly find it easier going than the Tour of the Lakes! Good luck and look forward to seeing your video.
Did you do it in 5 days? And is the last section to Carlisle as boring as some say?
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer When I did it the section between Dalston and Carlisle was closed so I had to walk along the main road for 4 miles with no footpath, I'm glad I did it to complete full walk but if I do it again I'll finish in Dalston, even on the official path it's a pretty bad end to a spectacular walk. And yes, 5 days is spot on.
@markmurphy7356 thanks. I was thinking of finding out if there's a bus from Dalston to go and do Helvellyn via the edges.
Hi Spence, great video, amazing place.
Thanks, how's things with you?
Great to see you back out and about mate👍. Wife suffered with Plantar for a couple of years. Stopped going on walks, so fair play trying to get back out. In the rain of course😂
Yeah, it's been a real pain in the..er foot. It had to rain didn't it? Koos' fault although he always tries to blame me..😂😂👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer 😂. Agree mate. I remember at least one of your videos when it didnt rain👍😂
@warrenhill4601 😂😂
It was great being out with you again mate. Please don't take another 5 months off though 😂
Yeah, enjoyed it mate. I'll definitely try not to leave it that long again.. 😂👍
An amazing place
Certainly is 👍
Stranger! Haha
😆👍
Great video Spence. I met you in the Ffordd Derwen a few weeks ago. Hope the foot's better.
Hi mate, it was a bit sore for a day or so, but nowhere near as bad as it was. I'll have to try a mountain now! 😆👍
Great hike and video 👍
Thanks, it was great to get back out again. 👍
well done
Thank you 👍
This just came up on autoplay .... you're a braver man than me Andy ,I hate heights and exposure and like yourself you've really got to put it to one side ...I've done a few munros with quite hairy bits and without the support of my mates there I'd probably have backed out ... credit to you for doing this on your own 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Cheers, not sure who Andy is though! 😄 I've done it again since ans it's a lot easier the second time. Thanks for watching. 👍
😂 my humble apologies, I was watching a previous video from Andy Lucking and this popped up on autoplay .... never thought to check the content on who's channel it was 😮 ....bank holiday beers for you 😂
😂😂 I've been called far worse... 😂😂
Great effort Spencer 👍
Thank you 👍
I forgot to say. For anyone scared of heights like here. You are so so brave to attempt it. Well done.
Thanks, it was a lot easier the next time 👍
I once saw a video of a man RUNNING the whole length.
Yeah, I've seen that..not something you'll see me doing! 😂👍
It’s an excellent video. I did crib goch my own back in 2009? I haven’t many photographs of it because I think I spent most of my time concentrating on what I was doing. Now, having watched this video I can’t actually believe that I did this. I continued on to Snowdon and completed the horseshoe on one of the best days ever. I’ve Just subscribed and will be watching some more of your videos to relive walks I’ve done and some to see what I’ve missed out on, as I am of an age where strenuous walks / scrambles are out of reach.
Thank you, I've done the full horseshoe since then, and found it much easier. I've been out of action for a few months with plantar facialitus, but hoping to get back out soon. Thanks for watching 👍
Great video. I was going to do that walk the other day but bad weather put a stop to it and I’m not sure about the scrambling. I walked up that long road two weeks ago to see the reservoir. It went on forever 😮
Thanks. I can tell you that after doing the walk, the reservoir road is even worse! 😂 we'll hopefully get some better weather soon, for you to do it. Great views on a clear day. 👍
Wow, I've never actually seen a brocken spectre and you caught that one well !! Magical ! A good climb, too. Brave ! Ar first I thought you said a rock inspector was waving at you :))
Thanks, it's an awesome sight. The rock inspector made me laugh 😂.. 👍
@@deekey33 😂
Worst part for me was the 3rd pinnacle, I don't think I would have done it if there were any other option than to go the whole way back and downclimb.
The second time I did it, was so much easier, but that bit where climb up the outside of that pinnacle is still a bit nerve-wracking. Aonach Eagach ridge is an awesome scramble. 👍
I e done all the big mountains in Eryri but this looks like the views are amazing. Adding to the list thank you mate 👍
It's a great hike, a lot tougher than you expect. Views are amazing on a clear day. Thanks for watching. 👍
The Y Gribin ridge is in Ogwen. The correct name for the one you did is Gribau, I to call it by the wrong name for years too.
Thanks for the comment. If you check the Snowdon info site (yes, I know its Yr Wyddfa), it says the the ridge is Y Gribin and runs from Glaslyn to Gribau. So maybe we're both right! 😂👍
Did it in wet conditions with side winds , proud , scared and never again comes to mind😂 great effort Spencer👌
😂 nice one 👍
Hi, I am putting together a video about the locos being moved from the castle. Would it be possible please to us a couple of short clips from your video?
Yes, no problem 👍
Thank you so much I will credit in the description
Moel Siabod in all its glory he he. I took that route a couple of years ago and it was exactly the same. Great vid. Thanks for sharing
Cheers Dave, you can't beat the views from up there. And a great little scramble too. 👍
Bloody hell that's a tricky one 😲
Tell me about it! 😂😂
Great video of a fanfares, I've done a video of the same walk but we managed to climb the waterfall, definitely recommend the scramble if it's safe, we also camped at Gordale Scar which was even better to see at night, also just subscribed. Ta Stu.
Cheers mate. Yeah, we were a bit disappointed not to do the scramble up the the gorge, but it was too dangerous. It's a lovely area isn't it? Thanks for the sub, I'll have a look at your channel later. 👍
Cracking video Spencer and a great visual recce for my upcoming Y Garn trip in February. Thanks 👍🏻
Thanks, I hope you get good views. It's a great route. 👍
Love that place, been many times, and you can`t go wrong with a Rab mate!!
Yeah, it's lovely around there, some stunning scenery. 👍
Bloody hell Spencer that looked tough 😮 I agree with you though about doing it in better weather, but we’ll done for doing it in those conditions those rocks looked slippery, merry Christmas from Mark & Simon 🎄
Cheers guys. It was toughest one I've done yet, definitely won't be doing it the wet again. 👍
Just go to North Ridge instead of that bogie gully mate. Its better and you gonna save much more time
Yeah, I did that the week before. Just trying new routes. 👍
That looks so dangerous in the wet , so steep and must have been so slippery! Also your hands must have frozen , you’re both mad lol 😂☠️☠️
I started off in gloves but had to take them off because they were sopping. Koos is mad, I'm just gullible! 🤣👍
Thanks for another fine memory Spencer. Use to love Tryfan and doing it in real North Wales weather was always exhilarating.
Thanks, real North Wales weather indeed! 😂👍
That gully looked horrible I've never done that route before 😂💪👊
It's a great route...in the dry!!! 🤣👍
@OutandaboutwithSpencer yeah more than likely will do it now that I know its there ..keep up with the good work .I done crib goch after watching your vid easy peasy 😂brilliant though 👌
Thanks 👍
Back up again 😂 🫡👊
Well done pal, in tricky conditions 👏
Cheers Dean 👍
Brilliant! I woke up in Capel Curig, looked out the window at the mountains and the rain and decided to go to Criccieth for a walk on the beach and an ice cream
Perfect ice cream weather, did you have a 99? 😂👍
Great vid mate don’t think I would fancy the cold shower on the way up though 😂😂
🤣 especially up your sleeves, not pleasant! 👍
I thought your last video was a mission but this one….hats off to you Spencer 👌🏻
This was a really tough one, one of those days where I just wasn't feeling it at first. It would be easier without waterfalls running down your sleeves though! 🤣👍
As you said in the video “ it’s coos fault “I noticed he never brings good weather with him 😂
@decker1130 yeah, and he says it's my fault! 🤣
Was a fantastic day despite the weather mate. Well done as a lot of it wasn't easy going! Looking forward to our next outing
Certainly was mate, see you soon. 👍
It’s raining and windy here whilst I’m watching this and I would’nt even venture to the end of my garden never mind the top of windswept waterfall. But I’ve enjoyed watching you do it, looked very tricky and dangerous, I think I need a lie down now.
Be careful if you're having a lie down, the worst injury I've had was falling getting out of bed! 🤣👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer …oh the irony.
Wetter than an otters pocket mate🌧️. Does look a cracker in better weather
You couldn't make it up! 😄
@warrenhill4601 certainly was a wet one, but yeah, it would be a belter in dry weather. 👍
Great video mate , looked very challenging in that snow, I assume it was fresh fall? As I was surprised you did it without crampons- fair play Snow capped peak views were amazing. I’d love to do that north ridge one day , definitely on the list , you’ll have to guide me up there one day lol Best wishes
Cheers mate, yes, it was soft snow, but icy in places. I backed down a few times because of the ice, and found safer ways up. Anytime you fancy a walk, let me know. 👍
Sounds great , it strikes me there are multiple little routes and ways you can negotiate to the top via the north face , some safe and easier and some that could lead you cragfast! Very sensible to descend if unsure! I’ll definitely be up for it in the new year when I’m up that way again. Haven’t been out in ages actually been unwell with constant chesty viruses which have knocked me out. Can’t wait to get out again . Take care mate
@@adamradford2285 hope you’re feeling better soon mate. 👍
Great vid mate winter views always seem to look so clear 👍
Thanks Dave, yes, a bit of snow always seems to make a difference. I’m back out next Friday with Koos, so hopefully there will be more winter views. 👍
Wonderful Winter Video! I remember hiking the Tryfan Ridge many years ago & the summit Adam & Eve Rocks! Thanks for filming & sharing! Great personal memories!
Thanks, I always enjoy watching videos that bring back good memories, so nice to be able to do that for others. 👍
Amazing stuff, Spencer. I definitely want to do this but not in those conditions, looks great though. A real lesson in keeping your head and not panicking I reckon.
Thanks, it's a great route, but is a lot easier in dry conditions. 👍
It has been a few years since i did the North Ridge , yes it is the hardest route with plenty of scrambling , next time give the Heather Terrace route a go , much easier
I've used the heather terrace to get to little and North gullies. That's another tough one though. I'm sure it's about time you got back to the Oggy! I watched all your Snowdonia videos when I started walking around there. 👍
@@OutandaboutwithSpencer Cheers bud
Great video as always - thanks for posting. Fair play to you for attempting North Tower in those conditions, sound and calm decision making great to see. All the best.
Thanks, I always try to keep it real. I've seen too many people get in trouble after watching social media and thinking its easy. 👍
Nice video Spencer. Wishing you a great weekend 😊
Thank you, you too 👍
Nice one Spencer great video, not done Tryfan yet but some of those icey rocks looked a bit dicey think I’ll save that one for the better weather lol, great to see you back out again 👍👌
Thanks, there were definitely some dicey bits! It was a great day though, always nice to catch the first snow of winter. Cheers 👍
Well done mate, you've backed down from the North Tower which is hard on a good day leave alone in slippery conditions. Best decision. Fantastic conditions 👍
Thanks mate, always better to back down than get stuck!! 😀 it was great to get out again 👍
@OutandaboutwithSpencer absolutely mate, any doubt back off. Great to see you out again 😀 👍
