I have seen a jeep take a dip at the Boynton Beach ramp, it just blows my mind how people invest so much money in a nice boat but want to haul it around on a half ton pickup or worse, a dam SUV.Come on people. I dunno about fenders at the boat ramp docks. With the changing tide, you wouldn't know ahead of time where to hang them (how far up or down). Once at the dock, I could see having to adjust them for hang height, but then, you're actively trying to tie off, and then trailer your boat. Most captains (and crews, those that actually help) already have information overload doing things they don't normally do, so trying to add something else seems really asking for trouble.
@@CGCampbellJr Hi Chris, It is true that my favorite lake does not have fluctuating tides. Down is the only direction my lake is going due to our drought. Even alone, I can create the short time it takes to secure two fenders. I just see so many nice and expensive boats being scraped against the docks in Alfred's videos. Ouch!!! If these people are comfortable scrapping their boats against the docks, good for them. I will continue to cringe every time I see it happen though. There are also many people who are drunk and therefore no help at the docks. Thanks for singing out. Cheers! Steve
I can't believe that anyone would pilot a boat or maybe worse, launch one without practicing backing in their trailer and learning how to properly control their throttles. Damn I would hate to be featured on the Chitshow doing that Chit. Holy Chit !
the damage is easily 5 ~ $7K of damages. If you zoom on the port side, the rub rail in the rear is damaged, as well as the huge gouge (its not a scratch) on the Stbd side
He or the boat insurance will have to pay for the repairs to the pier. It's a mandatory reportable incident to the USCG and the DNR or water cops. Nice fine maybe for reckless boating.
