3D Printer CNC Makes 3D Illusion Pattern

  • This is how I modified the Creality CR-10 to an engraving tool! By using a small electric motor and a PWM controller attached to a 3D printer makes you able to create incredible 3D illusion patterns. I designed a motor mount which I 3D printed and after connecting the electronics the 3D printer was ready to be used as a CNC. I also 3D printed a base in which a sheet of acrylic was placed. With a strip of RGB LED lights the acrylic was illuminated and the engraved pattern would light up!

CNC means computer numerical control, meaning putting a numerical distance for all three axis and controlling your tool to go to those specific places to do it's job weather it be add hot plastic or spin a bit for cutting and removal of a material. Meaning if you have a 3D printer you already have a CNC.

  • @JasonDrennen

We been doing it for years with a dremel. What you need to get is a quadcopter brushless motor and ESC. There's adapters so you could use collets on them. The brushless motor with ESC will give you a lot higher speeds which will allow your 3D printer to be stiff enough to handle more precise Engraving. Plus a little bit of cutting.
