The room below is more of a stripped back, piano&acoustic version. If you're looking for him live, I HIGHLY recommend Vessel's live cover of Hallelujah. Something about the way this man performs brings all of the energy and emotion out of a song and on display, and it's beautiful to watch
Feel that freakin shit. I saw them out in Phoenix.. to me at least.. BY FAR the best concert I’ve ever been too and tbh I don’t think it will ever be topped…. I felt like such a loser after the show was done and went to work the next day. You just feel so connected at their concerts and so moved
There is a whole concert of the room below where it's just Vessel sitting at a piano and the back up singers. Y'all gotta watch that his voice is just butter. That's completely live and amazing!
He performed a show in Lafayette...From the room below. He performed several songs, just Vessel, his instrument of choice and the Vesselettes sang back up. But he was the only band member performing. He did a few songs with Guitar then the rest he performed with his back to the audience, mask off sitting on top of the piano. Bloodsport was his closing song in that performance and he was so emotional at the end he was literally shaking and it was noticable as he was bowing to the crowd in gratitude. It was so popular they released this "unplugged" version as a video. So, he was singing totally in this video. He's majestic. ❤ Worship ❤
You mentioned how it was such a contrast between his singing and the major cords. You said “it’s like it’s supposed to be a good thing but it’s not”, which directly goes with the meaning of the song - a love so intense you’d give your blood for it, but it still wasn’t enough, and it should have been a good thing, but the more you got into it the more you realized it wasn’t. Bravo, Vessel.
Vessel has broken a few times when performing live and you can hear him vocally crying. It breaks my heart and I hope he knows how much we love him and the entire collective.
My heart truly breaks when he delivers the word "somewhere". The pain, emotion & anguish is felt throughout 🥺. I've been in that dark place, I'm sure many of us have.. including him 💔 His performance is so raw, it forces any past trauma to the surface. You don't want to go there but you end up going there anyway. I just want to reach out and hug him ❤ Vessel doesn't just sing from his heart, he sings from the depth of his soul 😢
For me it's, "Heaven just won't open up for meeee" but that first somewhere pulled tears immediately for me. At this point my marriage is falling apart again and it's a literal blood sport to keep it alive that i can't win but the heavens won't open for me because I can't walk through that door for my children's sake
the expression on Kyle and Eric's faces said it all. This version is crushing, and I'll warn you, it doesn't get easier to listen to. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. WORSHIP
Vessel does it in other songs during concerts. I saw them second time last Friday in Berlin and he gives his 1000% when singing live. Especially during Ascensionism and TMBTE his voice broke few times and he seamed to cry a bit there.. They are something else live..
they had a show that was dedicated to the “from the room below” versions, which was just piano versions of songs. and then on the deluxe version of sundowning, they had basically acoustic/piano studio versions of a few of their songs. if you want the live versions, you’re gonna have to find the actual performance that it was filmed. 🙏🏻
and you’ll really only be able to find videos that people in the audience have taken of that performance unfortunately. in those performances he did take his mask off and had it set to the side. but yes, these album FTRB is a studio version i believe.
Here's a recording of it: th-cam.com/video/EDYXv5fECjQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3OyfC3cwh0qr1OaM&t=2547 I linked to the part with Blood Sport, but I highly recommend watching the whole video.
5:43 THAT. The raw pain and frustration always gives me chills and starts quiet tears as he keeps nailing those raspy growling notes… I will ALWAYS feel this song in my soul depths.
The room below is a live set studio. So you’re right, it is a studio version still, and it’s live. A live studio version 😂 so it’s and both, and still amazing!
This version continuously gives me chills with the second ‘open up for me’. I have never had a song stab me in the heart like this… I’m so glad you both ‘got’ this version. You were spot on in your reaction. Worship.
Even if you don't experience heartbreak, you feel every word of this song and get emotional. Now, if you've ever been in a similar situation, welcome to your unique tear-jerking moment with this song.
This is a great version. With that said to me nothing beats the original version. There’s just something about having all the instruments and how epic the song is with the guitars, drums and bass that really hits hard.
His delivery of this song is among the best I’ve ever heard. These folks are modern day wizards and they’re directly manipulating our emotions with their music. It’s just so powerful. You’ve probably gotten comments for this already, but I hope you also cover their collab with Loathe (also on TH-cam) called “Is it really you?” It isn’t quite as emotional and stripped back as this but it’s a beautiful sonic journey as well.
You guys reacting to Sleep Token's albums in full is currently my favourite thing on TH-cam. Once it clicks, Sleep Token takes hold of you and becomes part of daily life. The next track Shelter is one of my faves, also waiting to break at the Fall For Me reaction on the next album.
No guys, this IS a live performance!! "The Room Below" was a string of live performances, if I remember correctly. Ah, nevermind you figured it out lol
I had to take a road trip to see family and friends this past weekend and decided to play all of Sleep Token, from EPs to TBMTE...and just fell in love. Like, I've been taking it one song at a time and obsessing over each one, but nah I just ran through em all this past weekend and now I'm so overwhelmed and just in it. As a piano player, as a writer who lost her muse/urge to write because I was stupid, as someone who gets overstimulated by other people's emotions...Sleep Token just speaks to me on every level. And now I'm going through all the reactions you guys have done to songs I hadn't listened to before the weekend and am LOVING IT Thank you for doing these!
This is my favorite Sleep Token song. Not only is it a beautiful song, it’s the most relatable song for me personally. I’ve been in a similar situation, so to hear that someone else has gone through that too, it’s cathartic.
This is a recording of him performing it live at the Piano, it's just been "mixed" in the studio after the recording as opposed to being a purely live performance. The Room Below versions are basically the equivalent of metal bands doing acoustic covers of their own songs Worth noting they did a Room Below version of a bunch of songs and adtionally did a pure live show called "The Room Below" which was Vessel, a piano and the backup singers performing the Room Below versions of songs live
I believe that the main difference between this version and the album version, apart from the obvious stripped back acoustic sound, is the tempo on this version is slightly slower. Giving it a more emotional feel from the off. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
You should absolutely watch the live version of this from The Room Below. This song clearly tears him up and is incredibly personal to him which is why it's rarely performed live. You can feel his pain and it's tragic and beautiful all in one.
This has always struck me as a studio one take "live" recording, similar to what Courtney and Will Ramos have done on their channels. Also, you gave me all the Ricky Bobby vibes with the excellence comment lol
I think the main difference I hear is that it is slightly slower than the studio version. The songs from the room below were part of the deluxe version of Sundowning, so it is recorded, but it definitely is different and more in the feels.
Stayed up waiting for this to drop… glad I was right that it dropped today. ☺️ I remember someone (I think it was The Lone Rager) saying that Vessel just has this way of reaching into your soul and pulling out these visceral reactions to his music, whether you wanted to have them or not, and bringing feelings to the surface-especially ones you didn’t realize were there. What’s what their music has done for me. And there are some heavy tracks in This Place Will Become Your Tomb where this comes out-particularly Atlantic and Fall For Me (there is no way to be prepared for the Fall For Me video, it will gut punch you). Honestly, the bonus tracks are kind of meh. If you want to keep the momentum, go straight into TPWBYT and circle back to the bonus tracks at a later time. Either way, great video, and now hopefully you won’t get nonstop “wHiCh VeRsIoN oF bLoOd SpOrT WiLl YoU dO” comments 😅
This one’s a bit different than the studio version because the vocals are so clear and it’s slowed down a little bit😌 I agree, this is the version I usually listen to, although I thoroughly enjoy both versions! This one just hits different😮💨🖤
Wow… okay okay okay. It’s not the original piece wasn’t beautiful, because it was. I just feel like this is how the song was supposed to be. Just a simple piano and raw emotion. Like, damn. You can hear the pain in his voice. You can feel the regret, you can feel how his soul still yearns for her. Ugh!!! I wasn’t trying to be this emotional at 10:00 am. BUT HEAR I AM!!!!!! Solid reaction.
It's for sure a rerecording, this version is obviously stripped back allowing the emotion in the vocal performance and lyrics to take center stage, but it's also slower than the original. It's just by a little, but if you listen to them back to back it stands out. The slower pace of this version gives it more space and amplifies the lyrics and vocal performance even more. I think this is the superior version as well.
THE superior version of Bloodsport is a live show at Lafayette (the room below) . The energy from him and the crowd is unparalleled. I'd encourage you guys watching the full concert on you're own after reaction to all the songs
Vessel is incredible in every way. There's a TH-cam video, recorded on a cell phone of this song live. He has his mask off, he's facing away from the crowd. You can hear him sobbing, and struggling to make it through the song but he belts it out. This song is the one that makes him the most vulnerable, and emotional. Check it out.
I'm so stoked about Highwater and Descending from TPWBYT album. These two songs need more love and they are fire as hell. You guys will see what i mean soon
Respect for not having a funny comment at the end of this one. The song is emotionally heavy as it is, this piano version is even more raw and emotional. As a few others have said there's concert footage for the room below as well, but i'm also really excited to see you dive into other stuff so maybe down the road you could revisit it if you're feeling up to yet another emotional journey of bloodsport.
If you guys want an amazing live version of this song, they performed it live in Lafayette on april 29th 2022. It's one of the most amazing live performance of this song in my opinion, so emotive, even everyone in the crown was balling their eyes out.
It’s more stripped down, no guitar, drums, or bass, just intimacy with Vessell, his vocals and that piano…. The room below was a live concert where Sleep Token did some live covers of Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish, OutKast, Leonard Cohen, and played stripped back versions of their songs from the One and Two LP’s as well as select songs from Sundowning. See you guys at Sonic Temple!
I think it’s just well miked. You can even hear the echoing acoustics of the room in the recording. And then probably mastered after the fact, like any studio recording would. But it definitely sounds different than the original.
Sleep token is amazing and this song is intense which reminds me a lot of disappear by starset which I think should react to. Sometimes these intensely emotional melodic songs a lot of people actually tend to avoid rather than facing the emotion’s of seeing & hearing. This is like that. Which is why people like me enjoy the reaction’s because I need to know that other’s are feeling that rawness and the depth of the journey.
This man knows how to feel and how to translate that in his work. When I heard this version, it just melted my heart and tore my soul, it just makes you really look back at many instances in life or what you have been through. Sleep Token has really opened up something inside me, that makes me love their music and style but the way it always makes me feel alive and broken in the best ways and I’m 100% okay with it #Worship
The room below is more of a stripped back, piano&acoustic version. If you're looking for him live, I HIGHLY recommend Vessel's live cover of Hallelujah. Something about the way this man performs brings all of the energy and emotion out of a song and on display, and it's beautiful to watch
I watch his Hallelujah everyday. Saw them live a few months ago. He does not disappoint live!
i second this 🙏
His final message to the crowd at Lafayette before bloodsport always crushes me. All of his messages at shows tend to, but that one in particular
I am relatively new to the Sleep Token train. THANK YOU for making me aware of this. I just went and found it. Instant goosebumps 👏
His Hallelujah is so gorgeous and I need him to record it so we can have it on Spotify like yesterday
I just saw them live and let me tell you-the post concert depression be hitting so hard, these guys live are-another fucking level
I was depressed for a month after the concert… i almost couldn’t fathom the fact I even saw them live 😅
Saw this at Wembley and what a way to leave the crowd wanting more.
Seeing them at the O2 again in November and already can't wait.
Worship
I had a rough month of it after wembley

@@mack2132literally same dude.
The emotion he conveys in the straining of his voice is so powerful. If you can't feel something after this, then you aren't human.
Also, I don't know if you guys take requests through these comments, but I would love to see what you think of Anoana by Heilung.
My favorite part is the second time he says "even if heaven wont open up for me"
“Live from the room below” he is performing the song live and they took video of it. The mic is above him.
“There’s just nothing but excellence that comes out of this man”… facts
There is a whole concert of the room below where it's just Vessel sitting at a piano and the back up singers. Y'all gotta watch that his voice is just butter. That's completely live and amazing!
