The birds sound like they're actually made from really tight, woven metal cables, skins like steel cables like in suspension bridges. Like if u smack one with some pliers or something then you get this gorgeous reverberatory chirping that travels through the weave to the end then back, but that's just an idea, I've smacked alotta cables, and I'm gonna smack a lot more lol because ~Sound~

So watching this video again and then listening to the birds, I’m pretty DARN sure that its actually guitar work with various effects (reverbs, delays and such) on them!! Really cool, maybe someone else who knows can confirm?!… kinda sounds like the guitarist is just sliding up and down the strings!!

I once heard someone say that Vessel sings each word as if it were its own song. And I think that's such an accurate and poetic way to describe it.
As well as an INCREDIBLE feat to pull off. Perfect example is that final "innocence"

I love the “im a winged insect you’re a funeral pyre” it just provides the perfect “moth to flame” imagery and the metaphor that you can be so blind that you’d follow this person to your own demise. If it means it will bring them back to the place they were happiest aka “Eden”.
Agreed. Especially with the "My my your eyes like fire" leading into it. Thats the lyric that pulled me into sleep token. The metaphor is so devastatingly beautiful, because not only is it a fire, its a funeral pyre. And the implication that the funeral is for her and he's drawn to the parts of her that are burning. Just absolutely fucking stunning.

He is actually referring to the plague. Airborne pathogens were taken on by flying insects during funeral pyres, as the deceased and diseased would posthumously spread blight to the living. He is saying he is a vector of her disease. Perhaps she had infected him and he is projecting that torment outward. 😊 food for thought.

"We dive through crystal waters, perfect oceans, but no one told me not to breathe and now the weightlessness recedes" is such a beautifully devastating description of drowning in a toxic relationship that I have ever heard. I love seeing these two in love with music. It is so great when people get to discuss things they're passionate about!!! They get a light in their eyes. Also I have heard this song so many times but they brought some of the atmospheric elements to my attention that I previously didn't catch. Sleep Token really is incredible. They are true craftsmen.

Vessel's scream at the end feels like when you're filled with anguish and wanting to get back to a better time before all this pain. The line "no self sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence" is a heartbreaking realization and thats what his screams sound like. 51:37
A lot of the screaming is done by IV alongside Vessel. But live IV has been carrying the screaming for the most part. I’m curious if it was the same in the studio.

Iv only do the screaming part alongside with vessel live. But they do sound alike and I wouldn’t be surprised if iv has helped vessel with screaming practice
I'm currently detoxing/withdrawing off drugs wanting to get clean and I felt that comment to the core! I feel as though this is what the concept of the entire song take me back to Eden. Imagine being Adam and Eve in the moments after disobeying God. That very same pain and anguish IS the artistic expression being displayed. That's just how I interpret.
I ADORE watching Will and Elizabeth react and analyze Sleep Token together, especially watching their faces melt in true awe.
"It was no accident" is from Chokehold, its the second line, and I NOTICED it immediately when I first heard "Take me back to Eden". This band is BRILLIANT! JUST AMAZING! ABSOLUTE!
"That's from Chokehold. I think. I might be wrong. I hope I'm not wrong," says the guy whose favorite song by his favorite band is Chokehold, which he did his own cover of. Lol.

It seems like 3 different songs. The beginning is the falling in love, the middle is the conflict, and the ending is the repercussions of the relationship. Like he's gone through an entire relationship in a single song. Their lyrics are amazing.

Great take. ‘Eden’ (happy days/rship) soundscapes and lyrical themes of ‘contentment’ and peace are all over the beginning.

It also perfectly sums up the whole album, all the genres and emotions used in the previous songs.
Euclid feels more like an end to the journey so far. Its a more positive view on everything that happend on the previous albums. "The night belongs to you, this bow has broken through. I must be someone new." Etc.
And man those final lines being the exact same lines nearly made me break down crying as an old fan xD

"The Charismatic Screamer"
In the first set of lyrics you can hear him say "I will travel far beyond the path of reason" and then he goes on to sing take me back to eden almost like he's asking to go back to that peaceful time. At the end of the song when he's screaming he says "I have traveled far beyond the path of reason" probably meaning that he has gone above and beyond for whatever failed relationship he was in and demands to have it back the way it was before they lost it all. Its so gut wrenching sounds like hes screaming his soul out, honestly shakes me to my core. Love ST!

They don't just build a musical landscape but rather a musical UNIVERSE. So many layers. So much depth. Such incredible volume and echo level control. Aaaaaahhhh I FUCKING love this band
People don’t seem to notice how the key of the chorus actually changes from minor to major throughout the song. The first chorus feels haunting and Original while the following choruses feel like echoes with different meanings… This song has so many layers of masterpieces.
Also, the figure in this song is supposed to be the final form of the Goddess Sleep, the whole trilogy of albums sleep token has released since Sundowning is the telling of the relationship of Vessel, a human and his complex relationship with the deity dubbed as Sleep. How he forgets her every time he wakes up, but his soul remembers her, and the longing for eachother. I could write a whole book on everything I’ve learned since being a fan since they released their first track.
We have no idea what Sleep is exactly, a goddess manufactured in some simulation or something else entirely.
Whatever this story is I’m absolutely infatuated and it seems so relatable they incomparable to anything I’ve experienced… something my soul adores while my mind has forgotten why…

Having just recently experienced Sleep Token live I can honestly say that Vessel truly seems to be in connection with something bigger than himself on the stage. They’re a great live band.

same here, ascensionism was the first song to ever have me in tears on the first listen (not even sad ones, just total shock)
Honestly, this album didn't fully hit with me until the second and third listen. Every song is almost sensory overload (in a good way) that by the end of the album, I was in a state of stupor trying to comprehend what I had just spent an hour listening to. I went a few weeks and only listened to The Summoning, Granite, and Chokehold a few times but didn't immediately like the entire album. Then a few weeks after the first listen and after playing the Summoning on repeat I wanted more, listened to the entire album a second time with my audiophile headphones, and my mind was blown. I'm addicted now and have listened to the entire album laying in bed every night the last week. Take Me Back to Eden went from an OK album on my first listen to by my third and fourth listening to my new favorite album, possibly of all time. Now I'm a Sleep Token apologist trying to convert all my friends and family into the cult of Sleep Token 😂

The winged insect and funeral pyre line is so great because of the old saying "drawn to it like a moth to a flame" is implying that he knows that this person will hurt him or burn him up, but he feels hopelessly drawn to them.

Will you nailed it, Vessel had his heart broken and "Take me back to Eden" is definitely a metaphor for the times when the love was there.
I interpret it as he got his heartbroken, and he wants to go back to innocence, before he knew that a love like that and heartbreak of that magnitude was possible. Almost like he was angry at the universe for ever letting him meet that person.
This is the song that started to tip me over the edge into really enjoying this band. I’ve always acknowledged they have an amazing sound, I’ve listened to “Chokehold”, liked it, listened to “The Summoning”, liked it it more, “Ascensionism” caught my attention, and then “Take Me Back to Eden”…😲

Edit: also I liked the part where Will caught the “it was no accident” line being in “Chokehold” and how bands use that technique. When that’s exactly what Lorna Shore did in Pain Remains. “Dancing like flames, after all I’ve done, I’ll salt the earth and disappear in a sea of flames”. 😔❤️

There was a comment on Elizabeth's reaction to Sun//Eater that sums up their relationship perfectly, somebody said it's like Wills sister being proud of him for 30 minutes straight and that is honestly the best representation of their friendship. These two are just perfect

I can't state enough how much I LOVE Elizabeth and Will's friendship. They have great camera chemistry, and hearing them both nerd out over vocals is just.... GUH. So good.
Will as a person is the best gateway to hardcore vocal music. He is just such a disarming individual and makes the whole scene feel way less intense. You see all these super scary guys that look like they want to shred you to pieces, but then you have this golden retriever boy who makes the same music, but has a much friendlier personality behind it. I never listened to hardcore metal prior to seeing Elizabeth breakdown Through the Hellfire and now I am branching out into other artists because of it. Thanks for being an unintimidating ambassador for hardcore metal Will!
If you've ever done a meet and greet, or accidentally met a member of a metal band at their merch booth, regardless of how big they are, you'll know how incredibly wonderful the musicians are. They're the sweetest, most humble people, and genuinely value their fans.

The lyrical deep dive was fantastic! I love Will’s insight on Vessel’s writing since he is a lyrical mastermind himself. Love that Will has a lengthy background with Sleep Token so he knows how they world build within songs and has an appreciation for it. The moment when he recognized Chokehold was priceless!
Side note: Will and his kitten play punches and ninja moves in the air are freaking adorable. I’m busting out these moves at the next Lorna Shore show I attend.

If you listen through Euclid, he sheds his mask and becomes a new person. This whole album is him overcoming and shedding his skin and rising up to become a new or better person. His word play is just mesmerizing. You can also notice he started with a full face mask and now his mask is all bloody and half gone. Even the imagery is amazing. I haven't listened to an album all the way through and fully enjoyed every song until I heard them.
Please just make an entire video with the whole album from start to finish. It's quite a story.
Euclid is an absolute masterpiece of an ending to the story the album tells. I WISH they'd review that song given Will's love for piano in metal

In all my years of listening to music, Sleep Token is the one band that has brought so much musicality into my life. I'm learning all these vocal intricacies from other musicians and coaches. I've also done this while analysing ii's drumming and his set up. So much new lingo and understanding has entered my brain that I now have a deeper and more profound enjoyment of music that never existed before. Thank you to Sleep Token and people like Elizabeth and Will for adding onto the new appreciation for me. I've fallen in love with music in a whole new way ❤️
Big thanks to you two for introducing me to this band! Loved seeing how passionate Will is about this band and, after listening to some of their songs from the new album, I can 100% see why!

And the fact they are so open to each other and willing learn about each others styles is somewhat unique. But you are correct they both huge music nerds and that brings them together. Either way they both awesome.

The technical understanding and explanation from one side and the absolute raw musical passion and joy from the other is such an incredible dynamic to watch. It's really a joy to watch. Someone else mentioned the learning going and coming from both individuals and its beautiful. I'm a big fan of Will and his massive vocal talent and seeing him just absorb everything she says is inspiring honestly. Massive props to both parties. Might be one of my favorite lyrics ever. It makes me think of an unprepared child transitioning from the innocence of childhood (eden) to adulthood. Freaking beautiful.
"I'm a waking hell and the God's grow tired" is also an underrated line.
Will’s expression hearing this for the first time is probably what so many of us looked like lol. I’ve had this album on repeat since the full release & enjoy it . Such a phenomenal album IMO

Elizabeth introduced me to Will and Lorna Shore. Will introduced me to Sleep Token via his Hypnosis cover. I've been through a lot in my 23years. Almost too much really, but All three Elizabeth, Will, and Sleep Token have kept me going day after day.

The first few times I've listened to this song, I thought those moments of quiet were breaks to catch your breath. In fine art, white or neutral space like that is to let your brain rest. However, I've listened to this song for numerous hours, and I think I've concluded that those aren't breaks to breath, but instead those breaks are our oxygen getting cut off. It's heavy and intense, and it feels like all of the air in the room is being sucked out and when the music picks back up, we are taking an anxiety filled, desperate breath, and the more it happens, the more violent and labored our breathing is. The violence of the song is lashing out at the fact that our needs are being quietly stripped from us over and over and we can't actually escape from that asphyxiation.
I love this take on it. It also makes the callback to chokehold mean that much more.

Also, this is my first time hearing Sleep Token, and i just have to say.... Wow.. blown away by all of it really. Masterful writing of the lyrics, even more masterful how he sings them and where he places his word spacing. (I dont know the vocalist lingo but thats the best way i can think of describing it) and then boom, all that sound comes in and his voice soars and it all sounds so friggin good together. Like dayum, this some good music so far. Thanks for the Analysis guys, you both rock 🤘

To me, Take Me Back To Eden seemed a story of being so depressed they were ready to leave the world and go back to eden. Which ties into their other songs regarding hurting themselves or dealing with someone who has hurt themselves physically. And as far as the part where you were talking about the lyrics "no amount of love will keep it around, unless we choose it" hit home so deep that if someone is depressed to the point of hurting themselves sometimes it doesn't matter how much love you can give to them, they still might choose not to stay around.
I took it as part relationship but part conversation with the inner self. Wanting to go back to who you were before, but eventually becoming someone new
im pretty sure its expression of the longing for the girl that was sacrificed to SLeep in a previous song.

Vessel's vibrato reminds me of Brendan Urie's vibrato, quick, tight and versatile. Also watching Elizabeth perk up like someone shocked her when Vessel's voice came in on that first line was an incredible just raw bodily reaction and it was awesome
I always said he almost sounded like a lower toned Brendan Urie and my wife said I was nuts.
Vessel masking his voice definitely sets him apart from Brendan, but they absolutely share that fast vibrato and both have massive range....honestly I think Vessel sounds more like a metal Rick Astley......they both mask their voices pretty similarly

I love sleep token. They can go from chill to full-on slap-in-the-face heavy in the course of a song, building it up slowly, or come in guns blazing from the start (like in gods and vore). That and Vessel's voice is straight up captivating.

I think Vore is also a good pick - it's got different feel and just smashes into Will's declaration that Vessel doesn't scream a lot :) I guess we'll see that one at some point :)

Wills comment about the song being about a failed relationship and about wanting the original feeling, hit home. I went back with the lyrics and re listened to each song, in order. I’m sure lm not telling anyone anything that they don’t already know but the way this album goes through each stage of a broken relationship, from how that person goes from all that you think about, to how you are left hoping that you are in their dreams as well, is haunting. Every step is there, this album and everything in it is genius.
not just this album; it's the entire trilogy of albums running through the stages of a bad breakup. and it's perfectly executed, and brutal and utterly draining but as you say, total genius.
Interesting. I haven’t really dove into the other albums like I did with this one. Do they follow similar themes as this one did? I love their music but this one is the first that I recognized a theme through the songs. Once you realize each songs purpose, it gives each a new sense of importance. For example, until I realized the albums theme, I wasn’t crazy about the song “Are you really ok.”, but with this viewpoint and my previous divorce, this song is now so heavy to me.
