So my favorite interpretation of this song is that it is from Sleep's perspective and the music video is the aftermath of the events that take place in the song Nazareth. It'll make a lot more sense when you get to that song.
I saw someone say the record studio swapped the video, it was supposed to be for Nazareth - after listening to Nazareth I can see this as more of the video for that song than this one.

One of their most underrated songs for me. Everything is on point. The vocals, the instrumentation, that synth arp that repeats throughout and keeps everything locked together and possibly some of II's best drumming. So good.

When he sings the line "I'm not here to be the savior you long for", the start of the line "I'm not" has always sounded like "NomNom" to me, which is especially funny with the title, told a couple friends the same and now they can't un-hear it. 🤣Still adore the song, they just don't miss, especially Vessel and the things he can do with his voice and the way he writes lyrics. The new Sleep Token album introduced me to Sleep Token but these older songs are where I found the magic. I love the new album, don't get me wrong, but Jaws, Levitate, Hypnosis, Descending, Dark Signs, Higher, Missing Limbs, Drag me under, Nazareth...omg...I'd have to name them all. On top of Nazareth being the subject for this video, I do want to point out that the outro portion of Jaws (around 5 min~ mark) matches the chord progression of the melodic portion of Gods. ^^ There are SO MANY internal callbacks of this band. It's amazing.
the ostinato that repeats through this makes a return in the start of the song High Water off of This Place Will Be Your Tomb, if you're listening closely. thematically, these two songs tie together very very closely, with this being the start of the relationship and High Water being the end. if you had to condense the album trilogy into 2 songs, these are it, imo. I definitely recommend either giving this song a repeat listen right before going into High Water, or listening to the two back-to-back when you're done.

My theory is that sleep is a fallen angel like lucifer and vessel his human counterpart - Adam. Those two ladies are the representations of Eve and Lilith. They say as above so below and the pair Adam-Eve are a mirror of Lucifer-Lilith in the other dimension. This video solidified this theory for me with the two girls that present as opposites. Throughout the discography, vessel also sings about that someone that he lost, mistakes he made, how he is either descending or ascending and of course, how he wants to go back to eden. The same regrets can be seen as the regrets that Adam/Lucifer has. This video and the Fall for Me (tomb) video really match this theory quite nicely.

Could be reading too much into it, but in Vessel's lyrics he has referred to himself as an insect of sorts like in Take me Back to Eden "I'm a winged insect you're a funeral pyre". Idk if it makes sense at all and how it plays into the grand scheme of things, but that was my interpretation of the characters represented in the music video. I have been enjoying all of your Sleep Token reactions throughout 2023 and into this year. You are doing a fabulous job! I wanted to comment on some of the things you mentioned in this reaction. This has to be the video for 'Nazareth', the second track on the 'Two' EP. The similarity between the lyrics and the story of this video are simply too obvious to ignore. I am not sure how this ended up being released as the video for 'Jaws' instead (edit: oops, should have read some of the comments below). I believe at one point an 'Three' EP was intended to be released in 2018, featuring 'Jaws', 'The Way You Were' and 'Blood Sport', however this obviously never happened. 'The Way That You Were' was released as a single instead. I believe the plea in this song to... "show me want you've lost... show me what wounds you've got..." is answered in 'The Way That You Were.' Like Eric, I believe the ending in this song is intended to sound like a beating heart. 'Jaws' is unique in that it's the only Sleep Token song Vessel has explained some of its meaning (in a Kerrang! magazine interview). He says: "Our jaws are the tools we have to rend apart. They show our concealed aggression, and take something once hidden and burst it apart. You don’t know someone until you have seen them destroy something. Jaws is an exploration of the frustration which accompanies the sense that someone close to you is hiding their true self.” My interpretation of this song is the person hiding their true self is Vessel, and the plea was made to him by his lover during their relationship, which has now ended due to her passing. I know you have a schedule of Sleep Token's songs to react to, but missing ' The Way That You Were' will leave you with a missing part of the jigsaw. Also the video, which features Vessel and is difficult to comprehend without seeing it yourselves. W O R S H I P

It shows how his broken brain works and how his pain is dis perspective, he sees the beauty and is taken aback and wants to see the softer loveable side and that she has pain like does so he’s not judged and wants her to love him because he thinks he’s found a constant that may understand him… that’s how I’ve always related but I may be wrong but it’s helped me either way

You mentioned the "i dont know whats got its teeth in me but im about to bite back in anger" line. I think thats interesting because throughout the whole story prior to that line, he was into the vore and being bitten and all that. then in that song its the turning point of the story, taking back his old life. now he's got a "normal" response to being bitten instead of one of pleasure

Always think about every song in the context of Vessel is singing to the deity Sleep. These are all songs about his visitation by Sleep when she revealed herself in a dream and his worship of her.
I think alot of people forget vessel is called vessel for a reason and some songs are supposed to be sleep speaking through vessel. Not saying i know for sure that this is one of those songs but something to keep in mind when listening to ST.
This and The way that you were seen to refer to some traumatic events related to someone Vessel cares about went through On a side note, all the way through the song there is a synth playing morse code for SOS

The 2 girls in the video could mean this girl has 2 personalities, the one who vessel loves and the one who vessel hates, and looks to me that the negative side of this woman is taking over ( guns and blood ), we know how it ends.

I wanted to comment on some of the things you mentioned in this reaction.
This has to be the video for 'Nazareth', the second track on the 'Two' EP. The similarity between the lyrics and the story of this video are simply too obvious to ignore. I am not sure how this ended up being released as the video for 'Jaws' instead (edit: oops, should have read some of the comments below).
I believe at one point an 'Three' EP was intended to be released in 2018, featuring 'Jaws', 'The Way You Were' and 'Blood Sport', however this obviously never happened. 'The Way That You Were' was released as a single instead.
I believe the plea in this song to... "show me want you've lost... show me what wounds you've got..." is answered in 'The Way That You Were.'
Like Eric, I believe the ending in this song is intended to sound like a beating heart. 'Jaws' is unique in that it's the only Sleep Token song Vessel has explained some of its meaning (in a Kerrang! magazine interview). He says: "Our jaws are the tools we have to rend apart. They show our concealed aggression, and take something once hidden and burst it apart. You don’t know someone until you have seen them destroy something. Jaws is an exploration of the frustration which accompanies the sense that someone close to you is hiding their true self.”
My interpretation of this song is the person hiding their true self is Vessel, and the plea was made to him by his lover during their relationship, which has now ended due to her passing.
I know you have a schedule of Sleep Token's songs to react to, but missing ' The Way That You Were' will leave you with a missing part of the jigsaw. Also the video, which features Vessel and is difficult to comprehend without seeing it yourselves.

It shows how his broken brain works and how his pain is dis perspective, he sees the beauty and is taken aback and wants to see the softer loveable side and that she has pain like does so he’s not judged and wants her to love him because he thinks he’s found a constant that may understand him… that’s how I’ve always related but I may be wrong but it’s helped me either way
You guys NEED to listen to Hypnosis next, it is the best sleep token song in my opinion and I’ve heard all their songs. I love the reactions you two give off and the analysis of the lyrics and music make it really entertaining, keep it up!

You mentioned the "i dont know whats got its teeth in me but im about to bite back in anger" line. I think thats interesting because throughout the whole story prior to that line, he was into the vore and being bitten and all that. then in that song its the turning point of the story, taking back his old life. now he's got a "normal" response to being bitten instead of one of pleasure

Always think about every song in the context of Vessel is singing to the deity Sleep. These are all songs about his visitation by Sleep when she revealed herself in a dream and his worship of her.
I think alot of people forget vessel is called vessel for a reason and some songs are supposed to be sleep speaking through vessel. Not saying i know for sure that this is one of those songs but something to keep in mind when listening to ST.
