I hope one day I can find a beautiful lady and go sailing with her, living on the sailboat. Clean up the plastic in the ocean. Study marine biology or scuba dive and see marine life. When I was a kid in the 1990’s I had two strokes. It’s hard for me to get into college, or getting a job. I have always wanted to work with marine science. I found sV Delos around 2014 by typing in sailing on TH-cam. Then I found you, and a lot of other sailers. I learned sailing is great exercise for me, same with scuba diving, free diving, mermaiding, so I think sailing will be better then working at a gym, therapy, better than living in a big city.
Before Covid I think I found someone but I needed to get disability transportation so I can go back to see her. Then Covid hit. I have to get the transportation again. I want to get some friends and we can help me find a lady to help me have my dreams come true. Maybe then I can see you in Central America. ❤⛵️🐠🦈🧜♀️

G'Day Nike, I've been sailing the past 16 years, chasing the best surfing conditions across the globe. I began when I was 17-years old and haven't stopped surfing or exploring this amazingly, beautiful planet, yet. I just recently turned 33 and one of my best mates gifted me a puppy for my Birthday. The dog loves boat life and gets wicked excited to run along the beach as I surf the breaks. She also enjoys riding on me board while I am padding it. My dog has definitely become my best mate, and I love her to pieces. Good luck with your new puppy mate. Kudos to you Nike for all the hard work and awareness you've brought, to the importance of recycling ♻️ and keeping the oceans & beaches pollution free and beautiful for the next generation. @@WhiteSpotPirates Eh Nike, I reckon it took me pup bout 3 weeks before she felt comfortable enough to doggy stroll around the boat. She definitely loves and has adjusted very well, to open-ocean, blue water cruising. She now is wicked excited to dive off the transom when we go swimming. We just finished up a great morning of surfing. We consistently barreled 3--4 metre waves (~10-12 ft). The winds flipped on us, unfortunately, so the sets definitely took a dump. We're just relaxing on the beach now, while Sandy (my dog) runs and plays with other four legged friends. Take care, be safe, and stay passionate! Cheers mate!

Love your video’s, the amount of detail in your planning. Heading, arrival times, usage of the AIS, and the general amount of maintenance work you do daily just to keep up and or repair as needed. All details we shore bound folks would never realize as daily chores. Living a minimalist life style while cleaning up our environment. When I clicked on this site and started to watch, I then noticed that the show was almost over! I thought it had been about 3 or 4 minutes but surprised to see that it had been 16 min.! In Australia, there is a pirate hut where the cruisers leave messages about their voyages. If you placed plastic numbers and letters that could be purchased and hot glued to make signs on wood or plastic artwork. These could be bagged and sold in packages.
Nike, this is SO WONDERFUL!!! I love that you guys have been engaging these kids to work with their hands and take care of their home. It is so inspiring. Can't wait to see what you get up to next. :)

Product suggest for the recycled plastic . Jewelry is great for the ladies, not so much for the men. They could use almost the same disc as the earrings, jest add a split ring and you have a key fab.
So wonderful to see people who care. Those beautiful children are involved in cleaning beaches that adults are the cause of. 90% of the plastic is from American corporations. It's sad to know that children will be the ones who will be the ones who will inherent the pollution of plastic. It is now established not only plastic molecules are in sea life, but as well as humans. It is obvious that, until these corporations who profit from manufacturing plastic, and those who use it for packing it are not regulated to stop using the deadly substance. It will only get worse. We can do all the recycling that we think helps, but it's not the solution. Only 5% of plastic is used, is deemed recyclable. But my hats off to the children, and the adults who believe they can make a living wage from a dire situation. Excellent video

Oh there is tons and tons of people doing this! We are a global network of small scale recycling workspaces that tackle this problem on a local level. ♻️♻️♻️ and well, to be honest: plastic recylcing is not the way to instant fame - might even be the other way round. Think I have lost a bunch of followers since I show more of this 🤣. But hey, that’s life…each to their own

It's always wonderful to see what you're up to. The jewelry and baskets are very nice and a great place to begin. I wonder if in the future you could scale up to making something more utilitarian? Roofing shingles or boat seats or crab traps or something that local people can put to use in daily life. With the raw materials literally washing up on shore, the in-put stream is readily available. Larger scale items/products would be a bigger challenge for your equipment.. I'm just thinking out loud. Love your work, keep sharing :) thanks!
Yes totally a way to grow into. It takes a bit of time to get there but the workspace is developing nicely. They are working on a cooperation with a couple in Panama City that makes big plastic sheets that then get turned into furniture. But we are still in the trial run phase to find the right beach plastic / post consumer plastic mix to make it work 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I took on my son's dog for a few months and was surprised to find how easy it was to fall in love with him. He is now back with my son. I miss him and I am keeping an eye out for one of my own.
My dog learned the words "Shore Leave", which every time I said that, he knew he was going for his walk.

I like what you are doing with the recycling but you may be missing a big trick that could produce far larger and more useful materials (with the bonus of consuming more material). If you can think of a way to capture enough heat in a rotating mold the plastics could be made into comfortable and 100% recyclable chairs and tables. Imagine sitting in a café and reading on the table "all the outdoor furniture is made from plastic recovered from the beaches and recycled locally".
I love the fruit bowls, making them longer and adding a hoop to them to make them a rigid fruit hammock for sailors.
Yes that’s a great idea with the fruit hammock for sailors 👍. And yes, u can make sheets from it. There is a couple in Panama City that does that and we are doing some trial runs with them to see they can make some sheets from the plastic. We still have not found the right mix, tough. It seems you can only use a small amount of beach plastic to make it work, the rest needs to be better quality post-consumer plastic

This story touched my heart this beautiful Friday morning near Washington DC - thank you for sharing this ray of positivity - my Wife and I are dedicated recycling nuts but so many people tell me “recycling plastic is a scam”; which I do not understand - to me it seems pretty obviously easy - somehow we need to reverse this terrible misinformation and get more good story out there about the benefits of recycling plastic

It would be interesting if the plastic could be formed into building material like a shingle or a brick, I am sure that would require very expensive machines, but it could help areas that may need the building materials given the storms, excellent work nonetheless

It been quite a long time since I watched one of your videos. You had a guy helping you as you taught him how to sail, and you were having a problem keeping your boat from rocking while anchored. But what reminded me of you and your recycling effort, and why I want to contact with you. Oh wait you had a dog. Have gone back so far and this is when you initially got him? Okay. Well, I saw this other project which uses recycled plastic, but in a larger scale. In this video I saw two cinder blocks. Well this company make these large block similar to Lego block. These blocks are then used to construct houses. They lock in just like Lego blocks. I was thinking if you were able to build blocks like your cinder blocks, that you could use to build needed structures. Any one could do the work. I wish I had more information of what I saw, but it’s been a while since I saw that video. But I just wanted to let you know that there’s a larger scale you and that recycling facility could get the equipment to build the larger blocks. Just a thought.

3D printers work on the same Principle as your extruder.
It may be possible to make 3D printing filament from the plastic you find.
With that, you could make many different kinds of items.

Yes, it’s totally possible. It’s a bit tricky with beach plastic because it’s mostly not meeting the quality u need for 3D printing filament but with domestic plastic waste u could totally do that, yes. 👍
The dog is a great choice, way better than a human. I still have my hopes up.
It would be interesting if they could also recycle aluminum items into cast aluminum parts they could use like boat or dock cleats. Aluminum melts at a relatively low temperature and casting into a sand mold isn't very difficult.
Aluminum cans actually get recycled in most of these areas. People get paid by weight for collecting them and dropping them off to be shipped to recylcing places. 👍
In the Philippines, I have seen many fishing boats made from plastic and steel drums.... they are very resourceful and many small communities can learn from them.

You need to make boats from that plastic, those are big and need a lot of material. Locals could use them to fish and for transportation.

While I am spending life working and watching TH-cam while thinking how to pay the bills I can admire people like you doing something else and living their dream. But at least I am thankful I can spend time with my daughter and wife.
Hm, I am not seeing much difference there. I also have to work and constantly have to think about how to pay my bills 🤣. Money does not grow on trees for me, either, unfortunately, and I am working two jobs that take up a LOT of my time (ask some of my close friends and family and they will sure tell u something about that!). But yes, I DO enjoy the work that I am doing and the life that I created for myself and I guess you can call that “living the dream”. I just wanted to make sure you know that this “living the dream” kinda thing is a lot of work and surely does not always feel like living the dream when ur at it 🤣 .
