I have watched a number of videos about this product, but this was the first video that me understand how useful the flashy knob could actually be in a performance. Very good instructor, thank you.
It seems to check all the boxes for me: good keyboard sounds, versatile, easy to record to DAW, lightweight, not too expensive.

I have watched Blake Angelo's videos many times over the years, and they were always superb. They were easy to understand and very informative - on a par with Phil Clendeninn's. I have a Roland RD 800 stage piano on which I practice piano, but I lust after this MODX. Now if I can just sneak it by my wife !

Valium is a benzo and you can get it on the modx wow no wonder the modx is so relaxing to play .I love my new modx8+ plus and your videos ,keep up the valium

Doug Graves The 88 key modx8 is 1499€ and the P125 is 599€. I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) that they both have the same keys (graded hammer action standard with no aftertouch), but the modx has better piano sounds? Then there is the P515 with superior keyboard (wood) and unknown piano sound quality (better than P125, but is it better or worse than the piano sound of modx8?) and it’s roughly the same price as the modx8. So, for a pianist that could eventually use some extras, is the modx8 a good choice?
@@topouzidd I doubt that the modx is much of an improvement as far as main piano sound alone, maybe slightly, and the keybed on P-125 is very slightly narrower than normal for some odd reason, unlike modx8.

I ordered one of these for store pickup. When I got there, it was no-box no bundled software/manuals, nothing but the power lead. It was a major struggle to get them to match their own open-box price online.
I heard that piano with the close mic position and was kinda like, meh... then you moved the mic back with that super knob and holy crap.... that's damn good!

In a previous video Blake mentioned some similarity between the GHS keyboard on the MX88 and the Montage. Is this the same keyboard on the MODX but with a different piano sample to the MX88?

question i have today a psr s750 and alot of styles performens (stf files) is that somthing i can use in this machine?
I wish I knew how to play this and explore all its features. Probably takes years to master such device.
Hmmm...interested. I think I like it more than the Montage. Not because it's better, but because it has most of the sounds, simpler and cheaper. Certainly worthy of consideration as I can't justify Montage money.

A very nice demonstration of the possibilities of this synthesizer, but I just cannot help but think what would happen if my cat peed on my screen. Cats love piano like keyboards. A lot to go wrong.
Just in Sound patches...would you say this is an upgrade from the Motif ES8? My church has an Motif where a few keys seems to be losing some action and I was wondering would it be better to just sell it and purchase a ModX8?

get that old Motif repaired, much better instrument, or swap it out for a P-125 and big full-range PA speakers if you don't use most of the Motif sounds

I just picked up one of these but I had to sell my MOXF to get it...I did this all while my lady was out of the country. Hopefully, she won't notice the difference or the splurge..
Payback... I had to tell her already as my girl may have noticed the bigger and more colorful screen. ;) 😬.. I already told her via a phone call but I had to downplay it a bit and described the swap as nothing more than a simple upgrade 🥱...and before she could even elaborate about the extra money cost ..I quickly changed the subject;)

Yamaha my keybed of the modx 88. Is getting ramshackle/shaky. I have played the instrument in a normal manner. About 8 times in 3 months. This is not right. Normally it would take about 10 years to get a little ramshackle/shaky . Keys are making a weird noise. What I wrote the online store an email. Not sure if they are able to fix this. A replacement would have the same decay. Hope Yamaha can update this with a keybed where you can physically alter the weight.
Maybe you could post a short video of your key problem. I have been interested in the Modx8 but I'm hard on a keyboard and spending that much for a keybed that seems weak in construction will make me rethink the purchase maybe a modx7 would be a better choice.

I want a keyboard that can record overlay tracks, sequence and arpeggio. Does this do that?
better look at Roland FA or Korg Krome EX keyboards instead, sequencing is not good on MODX

I'm looking forward to when Yamaha will add MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) to their keyboards.
MPE-in support would go a long way towards making up for no aftertouch.

Nope, it has a performer, but not made as an arranger keygboard.

A) play a pattern/sample and change tempo
B) can I switch between 1 pattern to another pattern/sample without it affecting the tempo whilst also playing the keys

Wait I am very confused now... so is it MO-D-X (like modern DX I assume?) Or is it MOD-X? I MUST KNOW!!
It is "MOE-DEE-ECKS" as in "MO" for the fact that it is a successor to the previous MO line and "DX" because it has FM like the classic DX line. Even though "MO" originally was meant to show the relationship of the original MO series to the Motif, it can still be thought of as relating to Montage, after all, same first two letters. My first inclination was to call it "M-O-D-X" as I have always called the previous "MOs' by just saying all the letters. But to me, "MOD-X" actually sounds "cooler" even if it doesn't mean anything, lol. Because Yamaha chose not to put a space or a dash or a slash between the "O" and the "D", I bet most people will call it "MOD-X," at least until they watch the Yamaha videos...….
