whats silly is the skateboard park with ppl in it all night even when its raining cats and dogs lol. had a rest stop next to 1 and even after sleeping they were still their lol.
The lines at stop lights are set back in America in real life. You're right about it being to allow vehicles and large trucks to turn, but it's also used for a pedestrian crosswalk. Love your channel buddy, keep up the great work!
48:30 so good ... "WRONG TURN!" I shouted, two times or more, but he couldn't hear me ... and then you went "am I just a lemming or what? Why am I following this guy?" ... priceless, after all that hassle through the low visibility .... you know what, watching 19 episodes in more or less one sitting really propels you in some weird state of mind of actually sitting on your passenger seat, I guess that's a good thing judging your episodes. At the same time following my own carrer mode, being only slightly ahead in the skill level progression, so much fun.
When you got to Ely, they modeled the city pretty good...You parked behind the Hotel Nevada, once the tallest building in Nevada! I have stayed there many times and played in their small casino. You was also on highway 50, runs from Ocean City, Maryland to Sacramento, California. Like route 66, was a main road across the US.
Remove that dust mod! It's awful, the sky doesn't blend with it, and it ruins this series for me. I love watching the scenery in another monitor and I can't do that with this mod.
I removed the mist mod because it works a bit strange. I got in Nevada had a heavy sandstorm for many miles with almost zero visibility and it suddenly changed to mist with almost zero visibility.
I watched this video and managed to feel in the span of 30 minutes annoyance, terror and pure joy at Squirrel losing his way in the end. Best Trucking Diary to date!
Squirrel the stop lines are common in North America for two reasons. One to allow truck to turn and also for pedestrians to cross the road. All Cars are required to come to a complete stop and the stop sign and only move up to make their turn when it clear i.e no pedestrians etc.
+Squirrel , the Freightliner that you called FLB is actually called Argosy - last year of production for NA was 2006. Can still be ordered as Glider to my knowledge (a glider is a complete vehicle without powertrain) and the Argosy is still available in Australia.
Squirrel i already have the w900 you will love that truck it is great and the sound of it is dead on hearing the Turbo whistling going down the road is killer
If you're driving roughly 60 mph and you have enough gas for 330 miles, then because 1 minute = 60 seconds, you are moving approximately 1 mile per minute. Therefore, it would take you 330 minutes to drive that distance or 5.5 hours. Idk if the game is quite that accurate. I have noticed that the signs say "exit in 1/2 mile" but the mileage on the truck easily goes up by 2-3 miles before the exit. So...
When you said about traffic density, having driven in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, on some of the highways off the Interstate, I seem to remember there wasn't much traffic at all, you'd be surprised really. Anyway did a quick Google on Highway 50 (the road you were on when you said it), Highway 50 is actually known as "The Loneliest Road in America.".
The reason stop lines are so far back is usually because of crosswalks. On the intersections outside of cities the stop lines are much closer to the oncoming traffic since there are no crosswalks. It does help with turning trucks, but much of the road system is not designed specifically for trucks.
After testing all of the transmissions, I found that the 13 gear actually gets you the best fuel mileage at high speeds. At 65mph it revs around 12.5k, where the 6/10/18 speed is around 15k to 17k.
25:15 I don't know about America, but I know of at least one place where they've done the same thing in Norway, although I've mostly seen it come into play with buses, I'm sure trucks find it handy too.
Just an FYI when the tractor is without a trailer, its called a bobtail(your tail is short, get it?) and when you have to drive a long way to your next job, its called dead heading. This can be with or without a trailer, as unless you are picking up a loaded trailer all the time like you do in SCS games, you may be required to haul an empty trailer, deadhead(unpaid depending on the company you work for) in order to get loaded 400 miles away.
You said no way to get a readout of distance left so you can match it with fuel distance left, the route adviser has that but you won't use the route adviser, you prefer the on board satnav. You have known about what I just said since ETS, but you've forgotten stuff you learned in ETS. You use the distance left in tank on the dashboard paired with the distance left on the ROUTE ADVISER.
Squirrel on 55 limits I've found that you can get up to 59mph and not get a speed limit and on 30 limit you can go 32mph. They're sweet spots where you won't get fined. They will come in handy when you get those long distance speedy deliveries. Also it wouldn't hurt to put the truck into higher rpm's before accelerating.
in merca the engine brake is called a Jake brake both my parents have over 1 million miles of safe driving in a truck and thay met on the road. The reason you stop at scales is so you aren't to big for the road and you are burning the appropriate amount of fual
Zhappnin Im Fredy no, you stop so they can make sure your weight is in check and if they check your logs that you aren't speeding or lying on your hours. God forbid you get a level 1 inspection on your truck
Just a note Squirrel but in the states they're simply called "Trailer Parks". In terms of why? It's affordability, a trailer is cheap to produce and if you take the wheels off it counts as a house making it even cheaper to own than say an RV or caravan as they say in the UK.
Was talking to my brother, whom is a real life trucker and according him you're shifting at the wrong points. Should shift up at 2000 RPM and down at 1500. This is with a load, When your bobtailing (Just the truck) you should be shifting 200/250 below the previous mentioned! Love the vids though, watch them all
By the way squirrel, in America it's customary to put on your four way directionals/blinkers if your in a situation where your driving a fair bit below the speed limit, when climbing a hill with heavy loads etc.
^ this, it is pretty normal for tractor trailers to have their hazard flashers on when climbing mountain passes and they can't maintain at least 40mph. This will become much more of a thing when Colorado is added as I-70 in Colorado has the 2 steepest climbs in the entire interstate system (Vail pass and Eisenhower tunnel, both 7% grades with the Eisenhower tunnel topping out at 11,000ft, the highest point on the interstate system)
I normally blast through everything, going at highway speed through towns. He's making me admire the game in a way I never had before. I believing using manual helps a lot as well.
+Mitch Taylor I'd originally thumbed up the comment but then I had a second thought. Yea it makes for more to see but then we might not of had that near rear end collision. Not that I'd wish it upon him, but it does need to be tweaked, I've never been in a sandstorm that lasted quite that long. If anything they should be sudden, intense but brief, which is the cause of many accidents IRL.
I don't like it either. But seems kinda stupid to ask someone to turn off a mod they put on purpose. He obviously likes it. I don't mind it but I wouldn't play with it personally.
+Mitch Taylor I do not like it. This kind of sandstorm must be very rare IRL, but it in game you get it too often. There is a light version of this mod, which while still gives you mist and sand storms, they are not as dense. He should use that instead. I have tried both.
+TheSniperEyes in normandy-france we can have 2 weeks straight of non stop fog, like 24/7 for 2 weeks there's nearly no visibility (though it's not common and it's only in the autumn and early winter part of the year)
Nop, the stop lines are like that IRL in the States, even in residential areas. Stop, then move forward and look is the norm, where as in the UK it's generally "broken lines" give way.
ya it's like that in America as well with the stop line. Also you'll notice the stoplights in ats are set further from the stop line that is done so you can see the lights better.
Jackpot is called Jackpot because there are 3 or 4 casinos there. It is a place for the people of Idaho to go to legally gamble. Most places in the US there are not Casinos. The main place to fine casinos are Nevada and Native American reservations.
A fyi to people that might not know if you go to settings-keyboard commands you can assign a key to cycle through the dashboard route adviser till it disappears. I like to use the smaller version of RA but in the Peterbilt the dash RA shows through it and it was driving me nuts ; )
The weigh stations should randomly select you for a full inspection, where you have to pull off after being weighed and sit for a hour. If your truck needs too much in repairs you could be fined or even lose your load as they refuse to let you operate an unsafe truck.
38:34 - 38:41 missed the first crash 38:40 - 39:01 just about misses the gridlock there 39:54 - 39:59 missed the other crash 40:15 - 40:34 lmao 40:34 - 40:44 "yeah well you'd just faceplant that guy, that's what would have happened, and given that guy has got a tanker full of stuff, that's gotta be pretty messy and possibly even a massive fireball" XD 40:50 ...plus the cop to give the guy a ticket for unlawful overtaking lol 42:08 - 42:23 that was scary as hell 48:15 - 48:20 "why have I gone this way!? why did I just follow this guy!? am I like a lemming or something!?" lmao I enjoyed the very eventful episode, those were some interesting 10 minutes in this video lmao
Whats with the really short on-ramps? And 39:54 my reaction would have been to go left onto the opposite side for a second since that was "clear" then pull back behind the truck if I know I can stop.. I guess he knew he could stop or something. i'm not familiar with real trucks or the game even, but that short braking distance seems a bit too good...
14:00min talking about loans......the 400K loan only cost you $5160 in interest. 100K loan is going to run $1584. IMO that 400K loan is the best thing to get the garage/trucks/drivers leveled up quickly. 5K/day is peanuts if you really think about it when the jobs you're doing are 15K-23K
I think the way the spawn rate might work, is that there is a cap on the number of vehicles in Your Field of view, and since they're all behind you, none spawn in front.
Interesting how we all focus on different things. I NEVER put points in Just in time but focused on Fuel economy. Because imo it is beneficial. These videos make me want to start another profile tho! Learned so much here & with the trucking school.
Hi Squirrel, woudn't it be so awesome that when you hire an employee it will drive some where around the map! and once you see him drive by he will flash you? And the more employees you get the more you will see them drive... thats a need adition I think!
Always enjoy watching the high quality videos you create Paul. Just finished watching The Forest series again. Keep up the great work see you on ATS New Mexico next week
Funny part is Squirrel is using the PACCAR engine sound mod (I also use it, the default engine sound is beyond awful) but still hasn't put the PACCAR engine in his truck yet. In RL the cummins ISX actually sounds a lot like the old Volvo D16 sound that was in ETS2 (back when it had the deep rumble instead of the awful mess they changed it to), especially the larger ISX15.
The speed limits are super broken from the compression of the map they did and havent patched those issues yet.... When I drive my truck I am selecting places that are close to me that I havent been to collect a job, not knowing what it is or what I will be hauling. Then go to the next drop off and do it all over.
Squirrel, you should install no police ticket mod (only fotoradars can give you a ticket now) because you are never speeding and sometimes these speedlimits just jump up and down and when you drive 55 it's hard to drop to 30 in 5 seconds in 20t truck (and I always have luck of having a cop car somewhere around me...)
+Gewel I know there are bugs and I know SCS need to make adjustments, but I don't feel like a career play-through should entirely remove it massively reduce fines.
When you get the w900 if the sound ain't good enough you can always upgrade to a Detroit sound or PACCAR or a cat engine they are all good mods I use them have amasing sounds
let me also vouch for turning off the fog mod , until they can improve the effect when the fog is present, mainly by: 1.fading the sky out 2.decreasing the effects of direct sunlight (shadows and specular reflections)
hey squirrel I believe when you are not towing a trailer and you're just your tractor only you can do the speed limit being 65 miles an hour or 75 miles an hour because 55 is only for vehicle towing a trailer so you're not towing the trailer you should be able to go faster speed limit.
the lake near truckee is supposed to be lake tahoe. i wonder if they are ever going to make a random thing at the weight station where your weight is not right or something.
Funny re missing turns which you put down yo talking Squirrel, but it's true, me and the wife often are talking and I say " We should have turned Left there", back in my early days with Securicor if I did that, I would say " That fooled the bandits" just the pleasures of driving.
BUT, less stopping also means more expensive when you do need fuel. There is some stopping before the intersection stuff in Aussie, in cities it's done for buses or the smaller trucks, camouflaged by pedestrian crossings. You're not much of a desert boy, are you? In desert, SIZE MATTERS! Not so many huge problems, if you let a little problem go it rapidly becomes a huge problem. Snakes are fun, one flesh eating bug rapidly becomes thousands, and sandstorms are lethal for everything.
Has he not upgraded his engine and transmission yet. You get the PACCAR MX-13 (455hp) and 13 speed w/retarder at lvl 6 which is a big upgrade over the ISX12 and 10 speed.
You keep talking about "caravans." I think that is what we call "travel trailers." I do see quite a few of those, but you also say caravan as you drive by a "mobile home park." Mobile homes are much bigger, sometimes two or three units wide. You can't pull them yourself. You hire a trucker to move them. People live in them full time. The mobile home business association is even switching to the term "manufactured housing" to try to distance themselves from the travel trailer concept.
In England caravans generally refer to much smaller trailers (think small airstream), then there are static caravans which are the size of travel trailers, but since pickup trucks aren't really a thing in England they are always shipped around on a full size truck. Mobile homes in England is more of a general term for anything that can be lived in and an be moved, since the prefab type homes that can be loved in full time are pretty rare
+Jim Jasutis Yeah it's a British terminology thing. We call "caravans" the ones you can pull yourself and "static caravans" the ones that you would need a trucker to move. Often we just say "caravans" because it's pretty obvious if it's a static one or not when we're all looking at it.
+Squirrel Thanks, I never realized that. The only other place I have heard the term was on "Top Gear," and they were always talking about the small ones.
A nice little thing to add to this game is when you have hired drivers then they should let you see them pass on the road so if you give a ai a truck it would be nice to see them on the road and in the garage
Squirrel, $5,000 for payments a day is nothing, I took out so many loans just to get my company started that I was paying just a little over $13,000 a day. But with the $18,000 to $29,000 loads I am getting it is not hard at all to pay the loans off.
I live in Fresno California i gotta say I don't understand why they limit the speed to 55mph. Our freeways are all 65 and outside of town they increase to 70mph in many places. I DONT GET IT!
In ATS, you don't get any fine for driving while being tired. Instead your screen will black out for a few seconds occasionally, which is really annoying.
American-Truck-Simulator Season 6 Episode 19 A Brand-New-Episode Starts Sunday Night At 8:00pm Right After Euro-Bus-Simulator Season 6 Episode 19 At 7:30pm On Nickelodeon
When you get the Kenworth, PLEASE make it a sleeper!(Cause what's a W900 without its sleeper?!) or does it come standard? I dont know anymore... :/ BUT MAKE IT A SLEEPER!
They need to add dump trucks to this game as well. Since we have construction sites and mining sites. Dump trucks that bring building materials should also exist.
whats silly is the skateboard park with ppl in it all night even when its raining cats and dogs lol. had a rest stop next to 1 and even after sleeping they were still their lol.
Those shafts of sunlight coming through the trees at around the 16:00 mark are totally stunning!

Nevada doesn't looks like that, dust storms aren't as common as this mod makes them, nor is the mist.
Remove that dust mod! It's awful, the sky doesn't blend with it, and it ruins this series for me. I love watching the scenery in another monitor and I can't do that with this mod.

25:36 Yes most stop lines are set that far back incase of trucks and because most intersections with lights have a crosswalk.

20:47 the moment he knew he f****d up
I removed the mist mod because it works a bit strange.

good mod
+Ronald van der Velden yes, it generates way too much. I've driving in Ca and Nv and never seen fog outside the SF Bay area for example.
+CaptainDuckman We get fog in Bakersfield from time to time, but not often.

When I drive my truck I am selecting places that are close to me that I havent been to collect a job, not knowing what it is or what I will be hauling. Then go to the next drop off and do it all over.
I must say I'm definitely preferring the longer episodes. Keep it up dude. Counted 0 'Broskis' in this episode too, not bad for nearly an hour!
You should install a mod that increases train length, then you get to sit at crossings forever. You could make the Squirrel Cast, a waiting podcast.
Awesome Game!
I think the HERREN (AHERN) signs are actually funny, especially since I work as a truck driver for a rental equipment company here in Arizona.
And longer yellow lights aswell (because these ones in the game are unrealistic 2 seconds)
He's already said that he won't be installing a mod to remove police. He's just going to wait for SCS to adjust the AI.
And the Ai vehicles getting off the interstate to the ramps, they basically go from the speed limit to a almost stop....
+Gewel I know there are bugs and I know SCS need to make adjustments, but I don't feel like a career play-through should entirely remove it massively reduce fines.
Alan M Carlino Jr But this mod (the one I have) doesn't remove police. Police just won't ticket you for overspeeding.
48:16 and I start to laugh. Hehehe Squirrel you so funny there
When you get the w900 if the sound ain't good enough you can always upgrade to a Detroit sound or PACCAR or a cat engine they are all good mods I use them have amasing sounds
let me also vouch for turning off the fog mod , until they can improve the effect when the fog is present, mainly by:
1.fading the sky out
2.decreasing the effects of direct sunlight (shadows and specular reflections)
I used to be quit happy flying in FSX until I came across you and Matt flyind around Brita
hey squirrel I believe when you are not towing a trailer and you're just your tractor only you can do the speed limit being 65 miles an hour or 75 miles an hour because 55 is only for vehicle towing a trailer so you're not towing the trailer you should be able to go faster speed limit.
6:50 Why is there no elevation indication on the map? I feel like this is a fairly significant oversight.
what an awesome episode, 50 minute episode and that overtake lol
the lake near truckee is supposed to be lake tahoe. i wonder if they are ever going to make a random thing at the weight station where your weight is not right or something.
When i was on road from Ely to Pioche there were 9 cars for the 81 miles. That place is empty.
in a construction zone the speed limit is 40 mph but can be posted for anything less
39:05 They call US-50 "The Loneliest Road in America" for a reason.
Funny re missing turns which you put down yo talking Squirrel, but it's true, me and the wife often are talking and I say " We should have turned Left there", back in my early days with Securicor if I did that, I would say " That fooled the bandits" just the pleasures of driving.
you should use high beam lights in sandstorm or heavy mist
squirrel is a lemon for two wong turnings in one episode
you do not need to open the hud to see the time. you can see the time in the truck
Take it from me Squirrel , some of the roads in Nevada you can drive along and not see another vehicle for an hour or so !!!
upgrade the truck!!!!
Really enjoying this series.
Wow mate that was an awsum adventure!
congrats to 400,000 subs!
In Canada we just call them campers and we call mobile homes trailer Homs
Homes*
The Stop lines are so far back because trucks with long loads have more space to turn.
51:20 Apparently because you were still technically in the city, although why that is I have no idea.
Squirrel, $5,000 for payments a day is nothing, I took out so many loans just to get my company started that I was paying just a little over $13,000 a day. But with the $18,000 to $29,000 loads I am getting it is not hard at all to pay the loans off.
4:08 The speed limit on your truck GPS didn't change.
I live in Fresno California i gotta say I don't understand why they limit the speed to 55mph. Our freeways are all 65 and outside of town they increase to 70mph in many places. I DONT GET IT!
nevermind im an idiot 55 is the truck speed limit
In ATS, you don't get any fine for driving while being tired. Instead your screen will black out for a few seconds occasionally, which is really annoying.
The Peterbilt display tells you how long you have left distance wise. You scrolled by it.
Great video Squirrel once again very fun.
Nice emergency stop. Didn't even need the instructor to tap the dashboard...
American-Truck-Simulator Season 6 Episode 19 A Brand-New-Episode Starts Sunday Night At 8:00pm Right After Euro-Bus-Simulator Season 6 Episode 19 At 7:30pm On Nickelodeon
Hey squirrel can you make these 1 hour episode into like 2 parts there 2 long for me
Yeah I agree
I like them this long... I listen to him while I drive in ATS
Just watch till you can't no more and go after we're you left off so every one is happy
agreed
No. They're fine the way they are.
In America we call them trailer parks, and yup they are very common around the country.
How would one attempt to come out of one of those t-junctions while a sand storm is brewing? horn just to alert maybe?
Stop lines are painted quite far back in the real world America, too, not just in SCS's sim.
