Nevada is famous in the US for the following: 1) legal gambling. 2) quick divorces 3) legal prostitution (in some counties) 4) being a desert 5) containing Area 51. 6) containing former atom bomb test sites. This is why in the game it is a desert full of casinos and billboards for 555-DIVORCE. :)

Even though if you approach the fences you can be trailed, there are motion sensors all over the location, there are signs that say they can shoot anyone who enters, and of course the thousands of aerial photographs taken over the location showing the massive facility.

I've got the Coast To Coast map installed and it's actually pretty nice for what it is. He did change the scenery to match deserts, grassland, some big trees the further east you go. The cities are small along the way, but they aren't copy/pasted directly. Parts of the drive are a bit boring, I won't lie, but some of the runs with the higher value cargo can put some real money in your pocket.

Wow...kinda cool to see that Sysco truck, that's a foodservice company over here in the US. They deliver to most of the restaurants in my area, so I see their trucks all the time (although mostly they're short wheelbase daycabs with short trailers around northern NY).
I love the sounds pack, the gas station effect and the high speed wind sound realistic. Looking forward to more map expansions on these series, which is why I'm gonna keep watching lol

the good news for me is with SCS starting on the west coast it won't take forever to reach colorado :D Can't wait to drive the stretch from the Eisenhower Tunnel to Denver, very tricky especially in winter. That is if they remember to put denver in which they forgot in EVERY 18 wheels of steel game -.-
That MHA pro map mod is great! Lots of extra stuff to see. It added a lot of new billboards, cops sticking thier nose in everything, and the mcdonalds and burger king drop offs are interesting.

Alex, the guy who does MHAPro map for ETS2 and now ATS, has been mapping SCS games since the 18 Wheels of Steel, talk about being a veteran of the scene. He also does all his maps alone. No one at ProMods has been mapping SCS games that long.
Hey Squirrel, Since you're playing AMERICAN Truck Simulator take note: You don't get "booked" when you receive a traffic ticket in the USA. You get cited or get a citation or get a ticket. You're booked into jail after you're arrested. Also, police are city cops. Highway Patrol or State Troopers patrol highways/freeways. County Sheriffs also patrol highways in some jurisdictions but usually confine themselves to patrolling and policing unicorporated areas of a county. Sometimes small town and even larger cities with budget problems contract county sheriffs to patrol in town.
3 months a state is great, for the bigger areas, certainly for Canada and Mexico you can include more cities, for the smaller areas like NY, Vermont etc, you can include more detailed cities.

I hope that you understand that the developers took some (a great deal of...) artistic license when they modeled this game against reality. although it captures most of the major skyline items by city, there are some fundamental flaws in how they show some (...most) of the actual mapping. the "say hen" is a play on the actual casino "say when", which is a great watering hole going to/coming back from Boise. if you squint hard enough, you are almost home... Aside from that, great vids, I truly enjoy your shows. keep up the great entertainment. MOAR! b
A C-130 Hercules. There will be aircraft all over Nevada. Not only is there Las Vegas but there are also loads of air tours over Nevada and there is also Nellis AFB in Nevada. That Base has loads of aircraft operating in & out of it especially during Red Flag operations. Aircraft from the size of small fighters right up to the size of huge bombers & cargo aircraft. Air Forces from around the world take part in Red Flag ops including UK, Australia, Canada. They have before also had aircraft from Turkey, & UAE before

One of the guys on the chat was implying that the creation of the videos you do is easy (I'm paraphrasing as I don't remember exactly what was said), and you replied with "there's a lot more to it, a LOT more", so I thought that it would be a pretty cool idea, for you to do a video to show us, what's involved. You have done a couple of "this is where I do it" videos, how about a "this is HOW I do it" video ? The best parts, often, are the "making of" supplements on bluray movies for example, so I thought that if you could do a video that shows the process that you go through for your content creation, I'm sure it'd be interesting for a lot of people and show people like myself, who think you click "start" on your capture software, drive for 25 minutes, click "stop" save-as an .mp4 and upload. Anyway, just a thought. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not talking about pointing at boxes and saying "That's the video capture box", I'm talking about from first sitting to record, maybe you have to test sound levels, and then all the processes involved, editing, the thought process during editing, what to leave in, what to take out etc... You mentioned in the stream that editing sim games can get quite involved.

hi Squirrel love your vid's a we tip though when relieving the map make sure you go into the recruitment car park to revile them or later on you want get 100% of the map and its a pain trying to fine where you've missed. I doing well now thanks to you got 4 garages 20 trucks and 19 drivers with 6 million.
The midwestern states like Kansas and Iowa will be knocked out pretty easily; they're all very flat, sparsely populated, and all the highways that run through them are dead straight and run for long stretches. I'm really interested to see how they handle the big cities. You could do a whole game just based on being a truck driver in a place like New York City.
Gambling is illegal in most us states but it is legal in Nevada. There are also a lot in Oklahoma because there are a lot of native Americans in Oklahoma and they have special laws on the Indian reservations so they can open up casinos

I'm writing this comment in June 2017 and it's now more than a year since ATS was released and when Squirrel said that the mapping has been sluggish, that's an understatement both in SCS's mapping and modding. I've done some calculations on the amount of time it would take to finish the USA part of the ATS map and it's a bit worrying. I believe SCS know it is sluggish. Here is what the math says. It’s been 6 months since the big Rescale from 1:35 to 1:20 and still no New Mexico map. At present, it is taking SCS at least 6 months to map a state. Here is a table of time taken per state and how long it will take to finish the map at that rate. At present there are 3 states in the game map, 4 if you include New Mexico, so we’ll take those 4 states away from the total of states left to map, which leaves 46. Assuming that there are 5 states in the New England area that can be mapped quickly because they are small, we can take the 5 New England states off the total which leaves 41. Now we can easily calculate how long the mapping will take at the present rate followed by the time taken if the mapping can be sped up. I really hope SCS can speed up the mapping process because I love this game and I play it more than 6 hours every single day…… 6 months per state = 23 years to finish the map 4 months per state = 15 years to finish the map 3 months per state = 11 years to finish the map 2 months per state = 7 years to finish the map
The controller curve thingy was an in-game option in DCS. ATS has non linear setting options too. But it's only a slider and so far I couldn't figure out what that does in either of the settings.
RE: Gambling. Apparently Nevada doesn't have a State lottery, which makes up for it with casinos. Though it can be argued that the lottery is a form of gambling.
squirrel talking about braking I use to pull a 9000 gal tanker talk to your modder.friends braking should be especially difficult pulling bulk tanks. true reason is that the bulk in the trailer will slam forward in the tube causing the trailer to push the truck until the bulk product. settles so emergency braking you should avoid if possible steer around sprightly if possible jerking the wheel will cause over turn. that's why when a tanker driver gets off the super slab or interstate he runs a lot slower to prevent over turn. I hope in the future that maybe they can make that aspect of it more realistic. so what I'm saying is look as far as you can paying attention what is close and far away get the big picture always p!an for a way out pulling a tanker roaming on brakes or whipping the wheel gets you killed and worse someone else in the real world most of the general public don't know how much damage a truck can cause it takes 80.000 pounds to crush a vehicle flat and that's how much gross weight we can carry. now that being said some drivers need to realize there truck don't stop on a dime and they drive right upon a four wheeler and ride there bumper. now don't get me wrong there are still good drivers out here that drive with pride so I'm not talking to them. it's just the few that think they own the road. enjoy your series THANKS i'm off the soap box now
Squirrel, I noticed that with my logitech g27 pedals, by default the brake was configured to be activating while the accelerator wasn't being pressed. I could see this by looking at the deadzones in ATS's settings, because whenever i let off the accelerator, the yellow bar showing the brake activation would shoot up. I don't know if this is intentional, but it was pretty weird to me so i changed the brake mode axis. This makes the brake pedal more realistic imo, and the truck doesn't stop so suddenly.

"... 3 months a state ... " , more than that obviously, as Arizona was released in... June? 4 months for one state, and no announcement for the next state since. All we've gotten was two decoration DLCs. Coast to Coast isn't doing bad, it has at least 1 city in every continental state, sometimes two or three.

got that mha map it has more police diff signs ,burger king , mcdonalds, scales are on in the gas stations, 3 more cities in nevada ,more rest areas and rest areas where you get loaded and un loaded ,diffrent bill boards and intrstate signs more loading and unloading areas love it the best map mod there is better than hawaii and coast to coast maps but i havent tried alaska map mod they have try it out and see maybe make a video of it
In the United States there are few states where gambling is legal most of the time it is Native American Casino's not straight gambling establishments.

Gambling is legal in the State of Nevada. Almost every town has a casino. And every town has at least one slot machine in there bars or restaurants.

RE: Gambling. Apparently Nevada doesn't have a State lottery, which makes up for it with casinos. Though it can be argued that the lottery is a form of gambling.

squirrel talking about braking I use to pull a 9000 gal tanker talk to your modder.friends braking should be especially difficult pulling bulk tanks. true reason is that the bulk in the trailer will slam forward in the tube causing the trailer to push the truck until the bulk product. settles so emergency braking you should avoid if possible steer around sprightly if possible jerking the wheel will cause over turn. that's why when a tanker driver gets off the super slab or interstate he runs a lot slower to prevent over turn. I hope in the future that maybe they can make that aspect of it more realistic. so what I'm saying is look as far as you can paying attention what is close and far away get the big picture always p!an for a way out pulling a tanker roaming on brakes or whipping the wheel gets you killed and worse someone else in the real world most of the general public don't know how much damage a truck can cause it takes 80.000 pounds to crush a vehicle flat and that's how much gross weight we can carry. now that being said some drivers need to realize there truck don't stop on a dime and they drive right upon a four wheeler and ride there bumper. now don't get me wrong there are still good drivers out here that drive with pride so I'm not talking to them. it's just the few that think they own the road. enjoy your series THANKS i'm off the soap box now
Squirrel, I noticed that with my logitech g27 pedals, by default the brake was configured to be activating while the accelerator wasn't being pressed. I could see this by looking at the deadzones in ATS's settings, because whenever i let off the accelerator, the yellow bar showing the brake activation would shoot up. I don't know if this is intentional, but it was pretty weird to me so i changed the brake mode axis. This makes the brake pedal more realistic imo, and the truck doesn't stop so suddenly.

There are so many casinos in Nevada because the state is in the middle of nowhere with next to no natural resources. Way back when, state leaders decided to build the economy on tourism, so they made gaming a focus, coupled with low taxes. Allowed gambling to thrive.

"... 3 months a state ... " , more than that obviously, as Arizona was released in... June? 4 months for one state, and no announcement for the next state since. All we've gotten was two decoration DLCs. Coast to Coast isn't doing bad, it has at least 1 city in every continental state, sometimes two or three.

I live in Santa Cruz and im surprised they diddnt include highway 17 to San Jose its a brutal road for trucks. 152 to Gilroy is much less of a grade

got that mha map it has more police diff signs ,burger king , mcdonalds, scales are on in the gas stations, 3 more cities in nevada ,more rest areas and rest areas where you get loaded and un loaded ,diffrent bill boards and intrstate signs more loading and unloading areas love it the best map mod there is better than hawaii and coast to coast maps but i havent tried alaska map mod they have try it out and see maybe make a video of it

In the United States there are few states where gambling is legal most of the time it is Native American Casino's not straight gambling establishments.
When you finally go for your W900 go for that CAT C15 so worth it.

Before the very recent rise of Indian Casinos and the rise of Atlantic City a few decades back, Nevada was the only place in the US where gambling was legal.
FYI Paul, there's gonna be tons of casinos in Nevada because gambling is legal in that state.
+Aakao Priest It's now legal in many more states (New Jersey and Connecticut have big casinos as well) but there are a lot of tax breaks in that state.

I think the gambling thing is because in order to build and own a casino you HAVE to be native american and those areas have quite a bigger sized population of native american tribes
