It's not a license issue that real brand names aren't in the game, it's a trademark/intellectual property issue that requires SCS to seek licensing agreements before putting real world brands in the game. It's not as simple as someone from SCS sending off an email asking if they can put the brand in the game, on billboards or as real companies. Every company they contact is going to want to contact their legal departments and carefully consider whether the presentation in the game will be beneficial or harmful to their image, as well as to protect their brand and trademarks from being diluted. SCS had the W900 ready to go for nearly 2 years, yet Kenworth (or the licensing entity) preferred to have a different truck in the game on launch. I remember an interview (probably with you) where the CEO talked about what it took to try to contact the 7 truck companies in Euro Truck, and how long it took, imagine if they tried to enter into those licensing talks with companies like Walmart, McDonald's, etc. SCS would probably have to hire an entire team to do the full time job of contacting brands who will only have an Aesthetic element in the game (some more so than others) rather than hiring a team to instead create more assets, and speed up production. On top of that, I could imagine it could get prohibitively expensive as each company is likely to want money in exchange for the license to implement their brand in the game. It is simply easier and cheaper for them to create their own parody versions of real companies and brands, like the UDS or Walbert.
+SB Gaming Excellent post... I think you're spot on with "carefully consider whether the presentation in the game will be beneficial or harmful to their image".... I seem to remember reading, some time ago, about a marquee car manufacturer being approached by a developer creating a game that involved, sometimes purposeful collisions. The manufacturer agreed with the caveat that no physical damage could be shown to the vehicle.
what they could add is inspections when you pull into a weigh scale they do snap inspections and if you have 10 or 15% damage they can direct you to the nearest garage and/or fine you. It's what they do in real life such things as brakes, tires and other safety hazards. and proper paper work if your over your hours (tired drivers) etc.
I love the difficulty of the W900, its wide body makes me actually use my mirrors instead of just sticking my head out of the window. I do get dumbfounded every now and then, but it is all part of the learning curve... Your latest "how to" video has helped me with a navigating some of the tricky places... But your next how to... "How to park the annoying mini trailers that steer to much or to little" - LTZ
coke is great as a cleaning product. leaves toilets sparkling and gets the grease off engines as well. just dont leave it on the engine too long or it will eat through the metal. we used it for cleaning engines when i was in the army. worked so much better than just using water and degreasers.
when u talked about new missions I think it would be cool to have rare missions or VIP cargo missions. Like hauling oversized loads, transporting for private and government companies like transporting sensitive materials and equipment.
+Squirrel ATS is a simulator, American trucks don't have beacons on the trucks or trailers unless it's an over sized load. If you want to use "beacons" use the four way blinkers.
+Nate Dufresne ATS isn't a simulator, it's a game... Hence those clowns at SCS have put STOP signs at traffic light controlled intersections, on/off ramps pathetically too short, weigh stations that do absolutely nothing, speed limits of 3 different speeds in the space of a few hundred yards... so I say add the beacons. Oh and an air horn to the W900 that works.
I have the current Coast To Coast Mod installed and in most states there is just one pickup point or one town. Its ok if you have exhausted the main game but not much visual on the MOD at all, it seems very unfinished and bare to say the least.
You complain about the length of the on ramps, but they're pretty spot on for most American highways. Where I live, you're lucky to get a merge lane at all.
Kroger is a grocery store in the states and we also call it Diet Coke. I'm loving the series by the way. Great videos and I also love your new series Bus Simulator 16
The red on right if you stop thing is the norm but not a lot of people do it.They just slow down a bit check if there's cars coming if not just continue.
33:00 Coke, Diet coke, Coke Zero, Coke with Lime, Cherry Coke, Vanilla coke (you should try this one), I'm probably missing a few, but that is what we are working with in North America
hey I also found out if you have a g27 (that's what I use and I'm sure if it's same for every wheel) but if you hold both the clutch and brake with one foot and slowly release at the same time and give it gas, it makes hill starts seem like a normal take off.
@ 16:40 if you ever run into a situation like that, just save the game right there as it is, and log out of the game (shut it down) then come in right away and the cars behind you are gone. As it stands right now the AI is so silly that it will box you in and you have no way to get out of it without causing mayor damage and fines
An oasis (plural: oases) or cienega (Southwestern United States)[citation needed] is an isolated area of vegetation in a desert, typically surrounding a spring or similar water source.
The delivery time is not based on the maximum speed limit on your journey. In ETS 2 the delivery time is calculated based on a speed of 60km/h + a rest stop or two, based on the length. In ATS is the same only i don't know the speed probably 40miles/h. Any speed beyond that limit will gain you time. Hope you see this Squirrel :)! And keep on the good work!
Everytime I watch your vids, I find myself knitting or crocheting at the same time. Yesterday I finished up a pair of socks, today I'm knitting a Xmas present for my crush at work.
I think the reason the on ramps are so short is because the map I think is a 1/35 scale and the on ramp is the same scale. Just my thought. It does need to be fixed.
I believe advertising in games is different because of the dynamics of a video game. A movie or TV show is controlled, so the viewer cannot manipulate the ad. Image is everything for a brand. So having it in a game opens up the possibility for people to change how the ad is presented.
Its Diet Coke in the States. But Pepsi, which I prefer, tastes different depending on the bottler. You think those billboards are bad, you should drive I-95 north, through Philadelphia. Multi-lane, elevated highway, people changing lanes frequently, and you are surrounded by huge billboards, all of them with "exciting graphics".. Two virtual walls of blazing graphics for miles.
26:46 - But the way they have it is accurate. It's exactly how it is in real life where you are driving. Those intersections are decades old and are being replaced by half-cloverleaf intersections. But you're critiquing them to be inaccurate lol
All really good ideas squirrel but as we all well know.. none of it will be implemented. I myself would love to see being able to get out of the truck, walking into diners, motels, etc. Or being able to interact with the sleeper cab. Maybe go online with a laptop or watch a little tv and eat before tucking in for the night. Sooo many things that can be done but let's face it, that's all just a pipe dream. Keep the vids coming mate!
We have Diet coke here in the U.S but I do like Coke lite dose have a nice ring to it. love your driving. and yes off ramps and on ramps need be bit wide.
actually the term "light" means reduced on sugar, and "diet" means the is modified in some aspect of the original recipe (can be sugar or some other ingredient) ... just saying :P ... btw love the serie
30:46 That weigh stop was a private (business) scale, not a government weigh station, so you should not have been required to stop. Those scales exist in real life so that you can catch weight issues before you end up at an official weigh station and they become real issues. You would never have to stop there in the base game, which is why you haven't before. I think your map mod screwed it up.
Sadly my favorite is the old style Peterbilt 579 with a sleeper cap so I mean even with the fact that it's going to be extremely hard to freaking Park that thing with a huge trailer I'll still give it a shot I may accidentally wreck the trailer but I'm still going to give it a shot. lol
Squirrel I've been around Kenworth W900 's my whole life. I own and operate a 2009 Kenworth W900L Flat top Aerocab. I can put that truck anywhere with no problems. You would be surprised where I've backed into with my W9. My truck is my life I've been driving it since 2010 so I pretty much know how to drive my truck. Anyways my trucks engine is a 550hp Cummins ISX and I have a 13 Speed Eaton Fuller transmission. I pull a 2010 50 Foot Great Dane Spread Axle reefer trailer. I'm actually onto buying my 2nd W900L which I'm ordering a 2016 Kenworth W900L Icon 900 Edition. I'm planning on getting a 600hp Cummins and a 18 speed I'm also gonna order with a stretched frame. I'm also going to get it a matching 2016 Spread Axle reefer trailer. Anyways I'm looking forward to seeing how the W900 looks on here. #KENWORTH #W900L #ICON900 #LARGECAR #18TOLIFE #KENWORTHGANG
"the timings are based on the fact that you will drive close to the speed limit" as "facts" go, this could not be more wrong. Mate, I've woken up from a sleep, so I have a 13 hour driving window, and finished a 16.5 hour trip before needing to sleep again, because when you drive at the speed limit, you actually make time up. The trip time is based on some other speed criteria (I seem to remember reading in the forums that it's about 40mph or something...)
when you were talking about diet coke and not being sure what it's called here on the States, it's actually the same. diet coke. but they did come out with coke zero which is supposed to be a zero calorie coke
15:45 - 15:56 in your defense, that barrier was camouflaged and almost invisible, but that was an interesting crash nonetheless lol 20:28 24:15 - 24:23 lol
Maybe they didn't add beacons to the game because it's very rare to see a truck in the U.S. use them. Only on massive oversized loads when the truck has an escort do you see beacons flashing.

mate you have a really relaxing voice, i somedays play one of your euro truck simulator vids on my phone while in the bed and i start sleeping, not meaning its boring but its so relaxing
you know I live inbetween reno and las vegas its a little town called Tonopah I'm unsure if its in this game but I laughed when I saw that you were in Nevada
My first truck is just like yours and when I pick up a load the front end of the truck feels so light that it wants to move all over the road. Is there a setting to help that before I off someone on the road lol.
The trailers we get at my Walmart are full loads. The driver drops off one and takes a empty one back. The drivers here work for Walmart and don't own the trucks. The only time they contract out is around Christmas time.
On Slimming World you can drink as many diet coke and diet Fanta and the like as you want because the issue with normal Coke is made with sugar and Diet Coke and other diet drinks have sweetener in instead. Nothing in the diet drinks that could cause you to gain weight. I drink it all the time and I've lost lots of weight. Great video Paul!

You have a vivid imagination Squirrel when it comes to ideas to improve the game.
But some good ideas that come to life as we speak. Think of random things to happen
The AI doesnt react to the beacons, however they will slow down around you if you have hazards on in both ATS and ETS2
what they could add is inspections when you pull into a weigh scale they do snap inspections and if you have 10 or 15% damage they can direct you to the nearest garage and/or fine you. It's what they do in real life such things as brakes, tires and other safety hazards. and proper paper work if your over your hours (tired drivers) etc.
+Stuart Mackey I've seen trailer tires down to the belts and they still kept rolling...that's an accident waiting to happen.
Liked before I've even seen it. That's how good this series is, Squirrel :)
***** I hope he gets the W900 soon :)
+John Appleseed same!!!
Do the same myself
+John Appleseed Technically he does, but only in his modded Trucking School and not Truckin' Diaries.
Ratkill9000 Yeah.
That contract idea is absolute perfect, definitely will make the game more real.
I love the difficulty of the W900, its wide body makes me actually use my mirrors instead of just sticking my head out of the window. +Forcemaster2000 My thought was that it was a city/town works dept yard.
Hi Squirrel .. love this ATS video series and I'm glad that you´ve continued with it. Cheers.

Oh, ATS ISN'T a simulator, my bad. I guess the "Simulator" in the American Truck SIMULATOR is Silent. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Awesome as always. You had mentioned the water tanker vanishing, you're in Nevada... Water tends to do that. Keep on truckin'! Game on.
"Truckee, welcoming of truckers" ... Maybe at Boomtown Casino. That Ag stop and chicken coop love to keep out of state drivers tied up for a while.
squirrel the coast to coast map has more cities added on are you going to give it a try??
I have the current Coast To Coast Mod installed and in most states there is just one pickup point or one town. Its ok if you have exhausted the main game but not much visual on the MOD at all, it seems very unfinished and bare to say the least.
In the logitech profiler try adjusting the brake peddle sensitivity. The higher the sensitivity the more controled the braking is.
You complain about the length of the on ramps, but they're pretty spot on for most American highways. Where I live, you're lucky to get a merge lane at all.
Kroger is a grocery store in the states and we also call it Diet Coke. I'm loving the series by the way. Great videos and I also love your new series Bus Simulator 16
hey Squirrel you need to start using your hazard blinkers when on sites and reversing !
The red on right if you stop thing is the norm but not a lot of people do it.They just slow down a bit check if there's cars coming if not just continue.
Beacons are only ever used on Oversize Loads here. The only times I ever see beacons on trucks is when they are hauling Oversize Loads.
In some places it's illegal to make a right turn on red in the USA. But only at busy intersections.
33:00 Coke, Diet coke, Coke Zero, Coke with Lime, Cherry Coke, Vanilla coke (you should try this one), I'm probably missing a few, but that is what we are working with in North America
Hey Squirrel, that was a nice trip on this day. 👍
👌🚚😊
Do you have enough money to buy the kenworth W900 cause I want you to use it :)
Me to
+Andrew Sterneker I want to use ist too, but if I buy one my game is crashing.
+Squirrel In the 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin and American Long Haul you could do contracts
hey I also found out if you have a g27 (that's what I use and I'm sure if it's same for every wheel) but if you hold both the clutch and brake with one foot and slowly release at the same time and give it gas, it makes hill starts seem like a normal take off.
32:35 FINALLY! Someone who understands.
32:54 Yes, and there's also Coke Zero, which is even more sugar less. Or something.
@ 16:40 if you ever run into a situation like that, just save the game right there as it is, and log out of the game (shut it down) then come in right away and the cars behind you are gone. As it stands right now the AI is so silly that it will box you in and you have no way to get out of it without causing mayor damage and fines
awesome series. huge fan of yours squirrel. one of my fav channels on youtube. can't wait for more episodes.

Kroger is a large supermarket chain in the US. They have store brand yogurt as well :3.

+igeekone Exactly why real branded cars aren't in GTA games. Nor any real brand for that matter.
It's Diet Coke in Canada too, and I also like Pepsi better but in Canada all Pepsi tastes the same

Great idea Squirrel with the contract idea. Would definitely make managing the company more interesting.

Love, love, love this series. Keep em' coming Squirrel!!!
If you buy the w900 I recommend the Cummins N14 sound pack by Kreichbaum.
We have Diet coke here in the U.S but I do like Coke lite dose have a nice ring to it. love your driving. and yes off ramps and on ramps need be bit wide.
16:00 - I did the exact same thing the first time! :P
+MartinATL Been there Done that...in MP no less...yeah bet a few where Chuckling at me lol
1:35 milage ratio doesn't do Donner Pass justice. Barely a hop up the one side to Truckee and the forty mile drop down to Sacramento.
so true the W-900 is a tricky one to park with..!
Your right on red understanding is correct, but most Americans ignore the stop portion, hence the sign stating to stop first
Squirrel I think mining is on Perpose because it is on the sign outside the site/ delivery place.
billboards are banned in Greece usless fact of the day :)
"Usless"
without us :P
+magas nemoutas another fact i can use when i get introduced to a dickhead i've never met
+magas nemoutas why are they banned?
+magas nemoutas Filming in the public is banned in Austria & Filming your innocence to prove that in court is also banned
Am I the only one who was happy when he said that he didnt want to go back to California???
actually the term "light" means reduced on sugar, and "diet" means the is modified in some aspect of the original recipe (can be sugar or some other ingredient) ... just saying :P ... btw love the serie
In North American beacon are only required on oversized loads.

Squirrel, you do know that you have more than 1 reverse gear? You can select it and you'll reverse faster.
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) That's my favorite thing about my 13 speed... Reverse hi/lo
good to see you back. youve been off the radar mate hope alls good
Big fan of your trucking diaries! Keep it up mate! 👍🏼👍🏼
MHA's maps redoes cities and roads as well as adds companies and new drop off and pick up points just so you know Paul :)
Sadly my favorite is the old style Peterbilt 579 with a sleeper cap so I mean even with the fact that it's going to be extremely hard to freaking Park that thing with a huge trailer I'll still give it a shot I may accidentally wreck the trailer but I'm still going to give it a shot. lol
Dude love this series more more
kroger is a produce store in the states

you missed ingame advertising! 26:19 neon yellow billboard

Enjoying the series mate, keep em' coming.

I've seen every video in you're trucking diaries and I like them all
Its a great series, looking forward for the next episode. Nice place for an overnight sleep, between a rock and a hard place :).
love this series
Really need to keep these Ats vid's coming squirrel, love em.
Not sure if anyone else commented, but it is Diet Coke in the USA as well. We also have Coke Zero as well.
Thank you bro.pls upload this series regularly
If you put the hazard lights on, they would have reversed for you. and the Invisible walls have no damage, even on ETS.
Maybe they didn't add beacons to the game because it's very rare to see a truck in the U.S. use them. Only on massive oversized loads when the truck has an escort do you see beacons flashing.
Bro I absolutely agree with you.... They should ats should absolutely shoot some emails to put some adds up! Even if McDonald's and stuff don't I'm sure the cooler more chill brands would ya know? Coke obviously went for it
"No run on ramp, that's stupid." Welcome to the US Interstate highway system. :)
As always, great video Paul!
I watch all of the videos of this series, and I will continue to do so :)
Keep it up.
I think you will always pay interest in the bank loan.
So, because of that, it is better to invest the money to buy new trucks and hire more drivers, as it is money that generates more money.
Why don't you use Low gear for hill starts? It's what it's there for
I have to make due with videos since the recent Windows 10 update messed up the drivers for the XBox1 controller. I cant wait for them to fix it.
multi loads would be awesome like real life like 3 or 4 drops and like 2 or 3 pick ups with the same trailers would be kool
Yeah those fast speed changes always give me a hard time too
cschnipke279 Yeah that's exactly how I feel about it.
mate you have a really relaxing voice, i somedays play one of your euro truck simulator vids on my phone while in the bed and i start sleeping, not meaning its boring but its so relaxing
In the US coke light is called Coke Zero instead of it being coke light like it is in the U.K.
Good video ! Congrats you have allmost hit 500,000 subs .
best sound ever at roughly 17:33
well done squirrel keep gowing and keep up your good work well done!!
Thank you Squirrel. Great video
during thunderstorms you can often hear car alarms going off
unlocked today the longwheelbase w900. Turning circle is the freaking moon.
Man, if you think a W900 is hard to back up, wait 'till somebody mods in one of those rigs with a sleeper as big as a motorhome.
you know I live inbetween reno and las vegas its a little town called Tonopah I'm unsure if its in this game but I laughed when I saw that you were in Nevada
Squirrel can you play more spin tires?
If you still have it.
it is diet coke in Canada, so i assume the same for the states, but hey also have coke zero and and whole bunch of other similar ones to....
Awesome Video!!!
My first truck is just like yours and when I pick up a load the front end of the truck feels so light that it wants to move all over the road. Is there a setting to help that before I off someone on the road lol.
I've pulled Walmart trailers. Typically one store takes the entire load in a trailer
The trailers we get at my Walmart are full loads. The driver drops off one and takes a empty one back. The drivers here work for Walmart and don't own the trucks. The only time they contract out is around Christmas time.

well conducted videos, in my opinion...i'm convinced and bought it, even though I was trying to save that money for something else
