    I used to be so shy and anxious that I was scared to share my feelings even with my mom. But today I opened up to my mom and I feel a lot close to her. I am so happy for myself. And today I feel 1000X more confident 😀.

      @@fghjasd8138 Over the past few days I have trying to share stuff I am the least awkward about and slowly graduating onto more awkward stuff. And yesterday I was not able to do good in things I wanted to do good and cried a little. My mom saw me crying. In the past I would never tell her why I was crying even though she would ask for an hour. But yesterday I decided that I would just tell and ignore my awkwardness/anxiety.
      And today I had a breakthrough. My hands were dirty when I was helping my mom with some chores while listening to songs on my phone. So I could not change the song with my hands and had to use the "Ok Google" command to do it hands free. Since that command does not work for me properly half of the time(Google fails to understand what I said) I think that I have a poor accent and I would be embarrassed if this command failed in front of someone. But I went for it anyway. I almost gave up this plan when I was going to speak but after pausing a little I just spoke the command. And I did it 8-9 more times while doing the chore.
      This gave me some confidence and I decided that this is the best time to overcome more of my anxiousness and tell mom about my anxiety and the things I feel weird about. I did cringe a little telling her about this(and I still did when writing about the Ok Google thing here) but hey at least I did it. The cringe only lasted a few seconds!
      Also for the past 3 days I have been doing a Japanese Speaking Challenge on Instagram (I have been learning Japanese for 10 months now) where I post myself saying a Japanese phrase. Of course I have major anxiety when doing something like this. And the comparison with other people doing this challenge makes it worse. But I am doing it in hopes of getting a little comfortable with my face, voice and expressions. On day 1 of this I kind of had a panic attack where my body temperature increased but day 2 and day 3 were better but I still worry a lot that I am not doing it well.
      I am feeling more confident but still not confident enough to let's say dance or sing in public. That's scary. 😱 It is a small victory but a victory nonetheless 🙂. Still on a long path to get less awkward and less anxious.
      I know that was a lot of text but I wanted to share full details since it might help someone. Cause I relate to I searching on internet and only getting vague answers. So wanted to share my experience.

      I would think online learning would be easier. I have the same problem school makes me nervous especially when the teacher calls on me. I have yet to experience online learning. Hang in there.

      Probably because there's deadlines and because when we don't understand something we can't say anything because no one else is asking anything and we can't walk up to the teacher after class either

    For anyone stuck at home in a lockdown situation, genuine online connections do count! Liking stuff on Facebook pages doesn't, but Discord or a zoom call, or even playing Among Us with your mates counts as social connection. Do what you can with what you have.
    Also, being alone isn't the same as being lonely - if you really can't get in touch with others, all that's left is to be with yourself in a healthy way.
    Do the other "do"s on this list (sleep, eat, exercise, cut back on caffeine, find fun stuff that brings you a bit of joy rather than angst) and congratulate yourself wholeheartedly for doing your best in a truly difficult situation.
    I believe in you, even if no one else does 😊

    I wanna talk about the last point. I'm someone who'll mostly agree with this,but yesterday something really different happened to me. I've been feeling lonely and I have no one to talk to about my emotions openly. Every Time I try to start a conversation with my "friends" they just completely ignore me or cut me off. And my family? Let's just not talk about that. So, for the few days I really wanted to let it all out but i don't know why I was not able to cry. I felt so many things yet nothing, idk if that makes sense. So I heard this new song by Justin bieber named Lonely. The way I connected with it.. it was a legit Niagara Falls that fell down my cheeks. I felt slightly less burdened after that but still I'm feeling low. :)

    Me: I'm a pretty calm and chill person.
    Also me: *Ends up doing all the things in the video in a regular basis.*
    Me: *who decided to ignore my distress and anxiety and feelings in general because people doesn't like insecure/paranoid people and is afraid of being alone for the rest of my life as I am now.* I'm still a pretty calm and chill person.

    As a psychologist, this is what helped me overcome anxiety:
    1. Mindful Hypnosis for calm, clear, confidence
    2. Seeing my own therapist (yes therapists see their own therapists)
    3. Remembering that anxiety is essentially fake news

    I wonder if anyone can relate to this, but I have developed some other habits or behavior patterns that weren't listed in the video. Especially using books/series as a form of escape-ism to try to "ignore" or "forget" the creeping feeling of anxiety, and ending up obsessively reading because it becomes the only form of control I have over these emotions. It also doubles as becoming a source of "mastery"-feeling, after finishing a book or TV-series. People with depression and anxiety often struggle with getting certain "mundane" tasks done and end up feeling inadequate. Whether it is through gaming, drawing, reading etc. we often end up becoming somewhat obsessive towards the things that give us feelings of accomplishing and mastering things. This, however, can become quite timeconsuming and make it hard to motivate ourselves to prioritize those other tasks, like eating healthy, exercising etc, as we don't feel the same sense of gratification from those tasks as we do when nurturing our vices. So, our source of joy can become a double-edged sword. While it giving us the feeling of controlling some aspects of our lives, it also easily renders us unable to focus on other things.

    I’m probably the only one who thought about Tweek Tweak at number four ;-;
    AnYwAyS - I try doing about 40 minutes of yoga daily which is actually easing a lot of my stress. Not to mention that it strengthens my body as well, as long as I don’t over exercise. Number five is the only reason I realize I’m grateful for not having allowance to any kinds of social media. Either way, this video was very helpful and I always appreciate the frequent posting!

      Yes. It depends on person. They say, for example, Yoga is good for anxiety. Long ago I was going to a Yoga studio...and the fact of having to go everyday same hour...gave me anxiety hahhaa. So I prefer exercise at home.

      I have had the same problem for years... because of burnout. I have learn that a little bit of exercise every day goes a long way I do yoga from home thanks to TH-cam, I take walks, and dance to music I like ! It helps whit the anxiety! Also I did some cardio every day at the gym for a while for only 20 min and that helped a lot ! Hope you all feel better soon!

    I grew up with a new anxiety everyday, due to very immature and unstable parenting, so as an adult i eliminate my anxieties completely or try to understand what it is that is causing me a certain anxiety. I love coffee but not the side effects of it 👃 so i control that hardcore too! I try to be an open book as often/much as i can be, also as a result of parents who tried tohide stuff very often, drinking, partying, loud sex, pot, sex affiliated habits (strip clubs, porn magazine collections, porn movies, etc), harsh & unexplainable punishments, zero talks about life, no respect for guns or why supervision for then is Extremely important (cannot emphasize extremely there, enough!), extreme and rash behaviors involving jealousy towards us kids or scheming to make us jealous of one another (even tho it didn't work for some of us, i grew in a positive direction from it, but do have siblings who grew towards jealousy & have multiple addictions such as cigarettes/pot or another sibling who is an extreme narcissist because of the jealousy). As an adult i deal with anxiety VERY well & no longer let other people incur more anxieties.

    That's the exact video I needed to hear I've been feeling so lonely and anxious lately I have no friends to hang out with or talk to and spending so much time on social media and not studying enough causing me to feel anxious and so much regret and nit been able to sleep cuz I'm so stressed out I just want to have at least one close friend or a best friend or even better a romantic partner.

    My anxiety gets triggered when I'm in online class, they might be talking about me or my parents, they might comparing me with other gifted kids who has a lot of knowledge at night and the worksheets that needed to pass tomorrow or the future holds because I might be a failure.

    Interesting how many of these seem to be common coping habits for anxiety or depression in the first place. It makes sense, then, how these habits feed back and become a downward spiral in people’s daily lives.

    From taking a quick look at the thumbnail I thought this video was about stuff that people do which triggers the anxiety of anxious people in their surroundings... as in, stuff you do that might make your anxiety-prone friend feel anxious
    As a very outgoing person I'm always afraid I come off as too much or that I put my quieter friends under pressure... Would be nice to know if there's something the other 80% of us can do to make life for the anxious 20% easier...

    1,2,5,6,7 is all me but I really don’t know how to change it... I tried it on the start of this semester but I’m always too tired because I never sleep before 5am... I also can’t concentrate for more than half a hour on studying... I’m never hungry and social media seems to be the only thing that I have enough energy for...

      @@Psych2go I used to skip meals, listen to sad music, and be lazy. Although my weight isn't an issue due to high matabolism, I decided to stop my bad habits for a better lifestyle. I've eaten more and gone on at least 1 walk a day.

    I deactivated my account on Facebook November 2019 and since then I'm free .. I unfriended everybody to stop myself from coming back .. I don't miss Facebook at all ..

    I don't have a problem with junk food because I admit the fact that i like it and do not stop myself from eating it when I crave it once in a while ..
    Healthy food shouldn't taste like sh***** .. that's why I choose only fruits and vegetables that I like and in a reasonable way ..
