Peruvian food is very different to Mexican. There is no doubt however that the best food of the whole American content would be between Mexico and Peru. For me it's Peru who wins but it's personal choice.
I lived in Lima for a year and a half, plus travel to both the jungle and the mountains. I have been to a few different countries and Peru probably has the best food. I know I will never find a potato as good as the ones I ate there every day. I love chewing the coca leaf too, but I worry that there will be drama over it if I try to get ahold of some in the United States.
Coca leaves sadly are illigal in EEUU, becasue when taking a drug test, the test can't recognise if oyu actually toke cocaine or just eate coca leaves.
I especially like the two stories at the end, about the community kitchen and culinary school. Two stories that offer a unique angle on the Peruvian food scene.

It has been determined that potato originated in Peru, we have more than 3500 varieties of it compared to no more than 10 found in Europe or North America. They have also found potatoes during excavations of ancient tombs, thousands of years old before the potato reached Europe , got it? Oh, and by the way, there was only 1 kind of dog present in Peru, native to this part of the world, what you see on the video are descendants of dogs brought here by Europeans along with cows, horses, pigs rats and disease.....
