- I ordered this lot of vintage ho model locomotives off Ebay a while back and they finally arrived. I purchased this lot mostly for one engine in particular although there were two others which I show as well. I don't usually find stuff on there going for this cheap so I snapped it up while I had the chance.

I LOVE seeing the eBay and train show hauls man. Keep up the great work.
Well, Harrison, the Burlington Northern was the best one out of the lot. Sure, the New Haven looks nice, and you will get her running as well. Might just keep the Chattanooga for parts or kitbash it as a drive system for the Yellowstone.

I had one of those old BN GP30 shells in my junk/parts box. Got it out, stripped it, repainted it into Family Lines and used an Athearn GP30 drive under it. Turned out great!
They will make some neat restoration projects for sure. I can't wait for train shows to come back

I made a purchase with an Athearn FP45 off Ebay that had a Model Power E7A bundled in the auction a couple months ago. My interest was in the Athearn engine, but I found that the Model Power E7A (looks similar to a Rivarossi E units) wasn't a bad purchase after all. The Model Power unit had a nice big can motor inside with a big flywheel. If you find any of these Model Power locos, pick them up. They come in the models of E7A, E8A, and E9A.
Also, a side note: The New Haven engine should be an E7A. To the best of my knowledge, I don't remember Tyco offering an E8 loco. The E7A's are easy to spot. The windows on the side are rectangle versus the round windows on the other E units, and the radiator fan setup on top is different than an E8 or E9 loco.
The NEW HAVEN E-UNIT is an E7-A with what Looks Like ALCO C628 / C630 TRIMOUNT Trucks .
The New Haven engine is an E-7. But it has truck side frames from an Alco engine. I hope you can get it running. Thanks for the fun video.

That Chattanooga was he one I was telling u about a while back....now all u need is "Comin' around the mountain" if anyone reads this and they have one they arent using...mail it...lol..that loco is so cool !!!!!!! You have at least 5 or so of my childhood locos.....70's....

Nice eBay haul! I really like that e unit and the Burlington northern gp30! I ordered a model power target signal in ho scale on eBay. It should come this week.

I think BN from 1976 is a Lionel. They used the same mechanisms as Athearn

Those Lionel GP30's had a much better than average body shell for the era they came from. Bachmann used the same tooling for its own GP30s, both in the Spectrum line and the standard Bachmann line; that's probably why it looks familiar to you. It was also a popular conversion project to take one of the Athearn GP30 frames from their 1960's wide-body GP30 model and replace the shell with one of these much better looking Lionels (I think it was written up as a project article in MR or MR Craftsman at some point in the 80s). The Bachmann Spectrum-edition GP30's were quite nice and reliable models for their time.

Great haul! I don’t like buying locomotives on eBay because of certain... experiences... but these are some mighty fine engines!

I have one of those Chattanooga 0-8-0's, they draw power but they don't move, mine did creep forwards but for like half a centimeter, so my thought was lubrication, I haven't tried it yet though, just a thought.
Maybe you do find it at a train show; but when you consider most train shows charge and entry fee, the cost of gas, often a parking fee and time, Ebay can be the way to go.
Plus, with Ebay, you have consumer protections you don't get if you come home from the train show with something you bought at a price bc it was sold as working only to find out it has some fatal flaw.
Wow the price you stated is actually not bad . shipping gouged but just wow thats a good price. Plus make for some good restoration. And the new haven locomotive oh yeah there we go chattanooga too. Nice very nice .

SMT, swap the trucks on two of the E Units, so that one unit has two power trucks. But, the Torque drive in the Chat', if it runs, could be put in the other E Unit. It's the same "Pancake" motor... and you know how to make them run! John BC.

Have you ever had to solder the wires back on to contacts on bachmann and lifelike diesel locomotives. I have a few times and it helped to use another locomotive that runs to figure out what wire goes where.

If The E8 locomotive Has a motor like Bachman I bet you you just need to slide the driveshaft on.. Get a plyer in there then push it on the Wheel Thingy then boom there she goes my Bachman GP38 has that ishue ive had to fix it 4 time's
Not an E8, it's and E7. Square windows on the E7, round windows on the E8 - E9.

About the GP30, I believe they used to be made by Lionel before they quit HO back in the 60s/70s (at least that's what mine is), even though I've got a Lionel one I still haven't opened it up (sounds like a real fun time...).

I have that same exact tyco Chattanooga, its not worth restoring. The tender driven system is one of the dumbest ideas in model railroading, the tender pushes the locomotive, and the locomotive tends to derail a lot. Other than that, you may figure something out. Best of luck restoring them! Awesome video!! 💯👍
I already own a few tender drive locos so i know where you're coming from. Certainly not worth much but I enjoy working on this stuff so I will probably end up fixing it anyway.

If you are selling what's the price ?
The Burlington Northern engine is a EMD GP30. You can tell a GP30 from other EMD locomotives by hump styled roof.
But the NH didn’t even have E units????

Hey smt my brother gave me his reo grande and New York central steam locos in o scale the New York central from Lionel was broke because I got it a long time ago and pushed it when I was 3 or 4 and it broke until we found my dads old lunch box with old train motors in it so we replaced it
It runs really well now so yeah I’m running it rn

That BN diesel was a Lionel? Wow
Lionel had several forays into HO. 50s/early 60s it pretty was a smaller version of the O27 line. The GP30 IIRC was part of a short lived attempt in the 70s that was taken over by Cox ( the line control airplane company) until Cox went under and Lionel returned to HO in the late 80s.
@@garysprandel1817 Yep, and that 1970s GP30 shell has had a very long life, Bachmann used it in their standard line as well as in the Spectrum line. In fact, IIRC there is still one of the Spectrum editions of this shell being sold today in the basic "DCC on Board" Bachmann line in the Walthers catalog. They've kept the 1970s Atlas-Roco GP40 shell alive in that line also, talk about vintage tooling :)

Nice, perhaps you could start an eBay store to liquidate some of your duplicate locos. Then you could make some money (and room) for new additions :)
When will you restore the blue goose?
I opened up the blue goose a couple days ago and discovered that it has a badly corroded motor so I'm not sure what to do now.

That’s my problem with O gauge everything is so damm expensive I can’t really afford Lionel fast track that’s why o switched to 027
