Unboxing HO Locomotives from a Dumpster with my Girlfriend & Sister

- I was recently sent a box with instructions to open it specifically with my girlfriend and sister. Inside there were many different brands of confectionary products as well as a bunch of ho scale locomotives which had been picked out of the dumpster of a train club.
Its unclear how long many of these locomotives have been sitting or what their working order is so I tried to test each one. Some started right away, others took some encouragement or didn't turn over all together. - บันเทิง
Packing peanuts ❌
Packing candy ✅
Packing candy circus peanuts
@@TheAmazingDrCheat it'd be worse than eating packing peanuts lol you read my mind
Maybe it was packing trains to keep the candy safe...
@@spencercorby4571 actually I kinda like those little orange peanuts 🤣
Thats crazy that these were just tossed in a dumpster, they're worth their weight in gold as parts! Also, and I think I mentioned this before, but Athearn Ready to Roll geared axles and replacement gears will work in Blue Box and most Proto locomotives (the only exception I've found with the latter is the Proto 1000 Erie Built locomotives, which use gears that are off center and thus Athearn and even other Life-Like/Walthers parts will not work in them).
Two lovely young ladies, kittuh treats in an amount worthy of the Nerf Floof and candy/beef sticks packing material. Nice haul Harrison.
Load up a train with some of that candy and call it the Sweet Tooth Express.
Nice to see some more models saved from the dumpster! I’ve saved far too many myself, it’s surprising what some people decide to throw out, especially at train clubs.
all of that candy is more than all of my childhood Halloween candy combined 😂
Looks like he got more than candy, I saw Slim Jim's
I never knew that smarties were called rockets in canada
Same
The Fleischmann one is obviously repainted. To sort out the noise issue with it, don't forget to re magnetize the motor magnet, as that helps with centering
It’s repainted the original Baldwin model was for the American market a Chicago and North Western model I have the SNCF model ( France) there was a Dutch model also my 1964 model still runs
Bro pulled harder than the Big Boy 🔥🔥🔥
NAHHHHHH 💀💀💀💀
Because he is the big boy!
SMT, that Mantua Tyco Burlington Northern F-unit is quite rare - it was only made for 1 year - 1970 - the year BN was formed!
RP Model Railroads on TH-cam has a video on it.
What a box full of surprises! It's a shame those engines were found in a dumpster.
1:02 what a awesome name for a lackluster candy.
Lol
It's a cool box of fun. Little jelly on the Stewart loco..Nice👍🚂🇨🇦
Wow, what an unboxing. Like a box of chocolates and life, you never know what you might get. Engines galore and great help too.
Good one, again 👍
great gift, definitely fix them all up. lot of fun ahead!
Cannot wait to see that BNSF Dash 9 running! So much candy!
All of these locomotives are so awesome and terrific
Nice haul Harrison, girlfriend and sister!! Always good to have an extra set of hands to help!
For sure, I liked seeing their reactions to the different trains and treats sent in.
Thanks Harrison for the video. Look like a great score. Enjoy seeing you girlfriend and sister, Have a truly wonderful day.
Sweet bunch of locomotives literally with all that candy too can’t wait to see that big one fixed up and running around the layout that’s really going to be amazing 👍
To separate the foodstuffs from the trains, it is recommended to bite carefully!
I'm so glad that the one union Pacific locomotive parked in South Dakota is a centennial
its prrob nothing new but.....i never thoguht if using CANDY as packing material LOL
Today is my lucky HO scale day! My uncle just gave me an original Athearn 62 ft. Union Pacific Tank Car!
I can't believe theses trains 🚂 🚂 we're in the dumpster and you got them running again !! 😊😊❤❤ !! I love it how you open up these boxes that you get from people and they have trains and cool stuff in them!! 😍😍😍👍👍👍! Great awesome video, Harrison! Wow , look at all the candy 🍭🍬🍬🍭 ! It's the candy train express ❤❤😍😍👍👍☺️☺️😉! Keep up the great work, Harrison 👍 👍 🇨🇦 👍 👍 😊 😉😉!!
You got a lot of nice projects. You're girlfriend and sister had fun too.
Great video, as always. It's great to see the locomotives get a second chance
Fun video! Enjoyed watching and learning!! Thanks.
Bro pulled
Harrison I think you had some great help for unboxing, I guess you are bringing the candy to Smith Falls this year if we make it , great additions to your collection
It’s nice that those Locomotives were Saved from being Scrapped
Like always another great video.......Thanks SMT
Nice that they get a second shot at life😊
I think if someone sent this to me my sister would mock me endlessly!
Happy to see you post again.
Question. Please let me know how do you build like the mountains on your layout and what’s the grass stuff called on your layout
If you ever wanna get rid of something HO scale related I’ll be more then happy to receive it and put it towards my new and in progress layout😁
Not Harrison but built more than a few layouts in my 62 years. That pink or blue extruded foamboard insulation always works for me. Pretty much stack it up randomly cut sizes larger on bottom smaller to the top then kind of smooth the layers by carving it smoother. I was fond of drywall mud as a coverage material for the foam board terraces. The grass/ landscape is put out by different companies but most used is Woodland Scenics has various dirts, turf etc
@@garysprandel1817TYSM this is really gonna help me out a lot and now I’m two steps closer to finishing my layout 😁
Also with that foam you can use a heat gun ( much hotter than hair dryer) to melt ditches and other natural fluctuations of the terrain. You can also use a cigarette lighter, but have to be very careful not to ignite it!
@@BC-fx6ud alright thank you so much for your help😁🙏
I usually glue strips of cardboard into the shape of the mountain and then cover it in paper soaked in watered down glue. All that has to be done after is to add paint and grass
Detailing and replacing the front drive on that BNSF loco would be a fun thing to watch.
Varney made F units for Gilbert, along with some rolling stock. That Erie Lackawanna unit is essentially just a Varney unit with a Gilbert HO plate attached to the rear truck.
Fantastic job man I like it 6:48
Just Watching The 3 Of ya on that Box So Cute.
Looks like Halloween came early this year. I cannot believe the locos came out of a dumpster. I'm sure they will be up and running. This one was an unusual unboxing but still pretty cool. From Texas.
Seems like a fun one!
this dudes pulling harder than santa's raindeer 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
It was great seeing your girlfriend and sister in this video, and I hope you get to include them in future projects. With all the locomotive repairs you have you could do one a day for the next ten years. Great fun, Jersey Bill
The BNSF unit was - I believe - a C44-9W. The unit designation is often on the cab, right under the side windows. 😊
I never thought of using candy as packing material... but it's pretty smart!
Sister looks different now in 2024 and I didn't know you had a girlfriend
His girlfriend helped him on a stream recently
The trains to unboxed are awesome
Yeah, definitely load up some empty gondola cars with the candy and see how many the Stewart locomotive can pull around the layout. 😊
At 7:04 I have that same Santa Fe. Has a drive shaft. Have a dark olive green one too.
The yellow and green Fleischmann Baldwin VO switchers were represented of Chicago North Western, also that ATSF F unit could also be a Penn Line
7:55, my train club actually has one of these! It was also a "dumpster engine" to put it in some way, ours is painted in mostly black with a white stripe along the walkway, a friend of mine told me it didn't run whatsoever, so imagine my surprise when I put it on the track just for it to run perfectly.
Little edit: I should also mention, that cosmetically it was only a little dirty, but it looked mint otherwise.
I'm glad to see everyone excited for American candy Harrison lol, have you ever tried "warheads" (sour candy) or "fun dip" (dipping powder candy)?
I haven't seen Necco wafers in a minute or two! I'm happy to see Nerf Cat is also being thought of!
That's a good size lot that you got. Hearing how Smarties are different in Canada is cool. Also you guys have it where sugar is required no artificial stuff like we have here unfortunately high fructose corn syrup is like In everything.. glad to see your gf and sister. Since I saw this today have a good st jean baptiste day
Great packing idea
You, my friend, are indeed a VERY lucky guy to have a sister and a girlfriend who both like trains. I envy you! :-)
That aggressive digging was giving me the craziest anxiety bro.
There was probably more risk of this stuff getting broken in transit than there was in the unboxing lol
The Bachmann DD40 is an easy fix. On mine the push fit shafts between the motors & the axle boxes were slipping. A spot of glue on each one solves that issue.
It's a bit crazy that some of these locomotives were going to be tossed. I would say the Stewart Hi-nose Alco C628 was the cream of the crop (Sorry, DDA40X fans), and I look forward to seeing someone of these locomotives in future repair videos.
That’s a weird request
Very nice model train unboxing here from a guy named Tom plus the candy too!
Boy Howdy Harrison, not sure about timing but funny as heck video. P. Waco is up in Oregon (should be back now) ☆ and Tom is in the hospital, (can't say more, privacy you know) but this should brighten his day. Never sure which box with the Waco, (I get em too) but I hope the ladies enjoyed the notoriety! Cheers
Nice score. The first SP unit is a Stewart /Bowser.
4:10 That locomotive is actually made by Stewart which didn't have the gear split issues like Proto had. Bowser took over the Stewart product line and may still have parts available if you need them to fix the engine. The C&NW engine is an ALCO C-628 which was built for the N&W but sold to the C&NW in 1973
In America the thinner ones are called Nichols and they are a different variety of flavors very good I like them
Neccos
By the way, while I don't know about other railroads, BNSF denotes loco type. There'll be some fine print on the yellow stripe below the cab.
0:56 this is the best candy you can possibly have. also these aren’t regular smarties the normal ones are small and the candy to the left that looks similar is basically the smarties but a little different.
That Gilbert HO is a Varney. You will probably find the varney name inside the shell.
Cool score Harrison
The blue and white one is a Fairbanks Morse H 12-44.
It was nice to meet some more of the not at all beautiful family… 😅
I'm super jealous, the only thing I get stuff sent to me in is packing peanuts, maybe occasionally bubble wrap for a little enjoyment nothing as good packed in candy though
3:23 I have a similar locomotive that was built February 20th 1999. It has some damage and doesn't run, but will (hopefully) become a project once I'm done working on my layout
Definitely upcycled some goodies.
Harrison the candy is for you to have the extra energy when you work on getting those engines sorted out.
No kidding, I'll be able to speed run repairs.
@@SMTMainline Sugar Buzz!!!
Very cool smt ❤️❤️
How many trains have been donated to him? Must be 10’s of thousands?
Hermosas locomotoras
What a sweet unboxing !! Good thing you have help eating all those goodies !! Great video harry , hope you're enjoying summer , be safe in the boat !!
oh the BNSF one by the way is an AC4400CW. Basically a Dash9 but not really.
Harrison goes for the trains, the girls go for the chocolate
I love how these H0 locos look and drive Harry! To be honest im second guesing myself if it was a good idea to choose tt scale (tt is 1:120 and second most popular scale here in eastern europe) in tt we don’t have any new americans locos only realy old ones from around when they made the scale
Necco wafers taste like antacids but they don’t help with indigestion. Bet Nerf Cat 🐈 will be happy with those cat treats.
That was a great video. Can you please make another video when you finish converting the Athearn BNSF from a dummy to a runner? It would be great to watch. Thanks.
You tested the trains, great, but what aboot the candy!? Did it taste good? Really nice gift. Fun video.
“I wonder what flavor it is “ -smt
10:12 thats an AC4400CW, the sister of the dash 9, just with AC traction
They where so helpful in the video tell them I said good job
Hi SMT! I was wondering what type/brand of fibreglass pencil you use for cleaning?
Are you anywhere close to your locomotive saturation point or have you bought more shelves? lol
When SMT turned it over, the blue & white Fleischmann Baldwin switcher body shell looked like it had a molded insert for a screw inside, at the top. I wonder if that is for a screw that holds a weight?
I think you're right. Also does this locomotive appear custom painted to you? I thought it looked like a factory paint job but others have said they never made one in this colour scheme before.
oh MY GOOOOD
I really enjoy watching your videos. I have a question that BNSF engine. I wonder if I could buy it off of you. I've been looking for one for a while for my fleet. Thanks!
Hey SMT! im starting model railroading, is there anything i should know/companies i should buy from?
I was looking for a n scale BNSF C44 but they were all in DCC
What do you clean the wheels and body with???
BNSF 5601 is a AC44CW witch is simmer to C44-9W
Smarties are same in the u.k too
How much do dummy trains with no motor? I really enjoy your videos, they are awesome 😊😊😊.
Initially when I read the title it didn't read to me that they were not the same person...
🤮
