  • Here is a new video !!
This is a rare Live Steam model train produced by the English company "BOWMAN" around 1932.
The seller told me the last time he saw it running was when he was a little boy... 50 years ago !!
A few versions of that 0-4-0 locomotive were made and I think the original color of that particularly one was green.
I really wanted to keep that loco neat once restored but... I promised I would make it run again... and honestly I really wanted to see it on the rail track !!
I've had to create new labels, even if they have been damaged by the heat... I'll make new ones !! :)
Please watch till the end to see this rare live steam locomotive in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

I've always enjoyed seeing the old being given a new lease on life. You, Chip Channel Restorations, AR Restoration, and other channels like y'all are always fun to watch. It's good that little steamie has a new home that loves it enough to restore it to full working order. Hope it lasts many more years and the great great grandkids of the future have it running and taken care of still.

When watching, I cringed at the stickers and the end of the video proved me right. The original was painted. Stickers should not be used. I also think sand blasting brass is a terrible idea. Could have dunked the boiler in vinegar for a short time for better clean. Also I caution against jbweld on boilers.

The condition of this locomotive is so telling of it's story- You can just look at it to see that the original owner took great pride in it by how it is still in completely original condition with minimal external wear/damage for it's age... Quite honestly, it's more than a little awe-inspiring seeing how something so old, can still be in such good condition with the proper construction of the maker and care of the owner...

Great to see this! As a kid my dad used to tell me he had one as a child in the 1930’s. He had to weigh down the coaches with stones from the back garden , otherwise loco and coaches would fly off on the curves and set fire to the living room carpet. Eventually he swapped it for some Meccano with a kid from school. I don’t think I ever forgave him for that! Now at last I know what he had 😂
Who knows, maybe this is actually the one he owned?
Dad passed on in 2013, so I guess I’ll never know. He did tell me he got ripped off, as the other kid never gave him all the Meccano he owed him.
What a pity your lovely LNER apple green paintwork got so scorched. Great to see her running though !

@@TheFabrik i just wish the old man was still around so I could show him this 😉. Thanks to you! Dad was more a plane guy than a train guy having flown Lancasters in 1944/5. I think he was always a bit disappointed that Sonny Jim was a railway nut 😂
PS subscribed, and hoping for more vintage railway restorations !

It was lovely to see it running but sad to see what the heat did.
I would want to repaint it and leave it static as a fully restored museum piece.

Great job, I own a BOWMAN 4-4-0 -234 locomotive WITHOUT THE TENDER. The piece is in good used condition blackened, I repaired the safety valve, and went over the coloring leaving everything as it is. I appreciated excellent functioning, so much so that I thought that a possible total restoration could damage everything ...

I think that you should have used an etch primer on the brass boiler and cylinders. I always do. It stops the paint coming off.

My cousin had one back in the early 1950s. The boiler wasn’t painted fir a very good reason - paint and flames don’t mix well together. The cylinders and rods were also left in original colour of the metal.

    Nice one!
I also have one of these wild locos. There is a part missing that helps reduce the burning of the "side tanks" There should be a steel plate running from the footplate, up inside the side tanks and fitting under their top flange.
These can also be "superheated", by running the steam pipe from the back of the boiler, along the burners then into the T piece to the cylinders. Great fun.
