Well worth the 4hrs to get there . What a surprise and I jumped out of my skin when you closed the door on the pyramid lol . Thank you for taking me along xx
As someone who volunteers to clean and conserve grave sites, I think it’s sad to see a cemetery in that state, especially when many of the burials are not that old. It seems like after the people were buried, they were forgotten. The vegetation will destroy those stones and monuments until they are eventually unreadable. But I suppose most of us are destined to be forgotten eventually.
Hi Kelly, believe me I've seen a lot worse, we don't really clean Graves here at all maybe only personal family graves it's sad but ye, I've come to that conclusion too we will all be forgotten.
I know what you mean. I was just up in Connecticut Vermont Massachusetts New Hampshire, Maine and Pennsylvania and we stopped at some cemeteries that have my ancestors in them. The headstones are so hard to read that I couldn’t really get good pictures of them.
Unfortunately, in many places, there are no county or town organizations or money to keep cemeteries picked up. Plus, I think vandals look for opportunities like this old cemetery to break headstones, push them over, etc. Then, too, many stones are very hard to read because they are not marble and the stone used (granite many times) does not hold up well to the elements. Wears away with time. Always so sad to me.
For years (I'm 71) I thought I was the only one for the longest time who loved to look around graveyards. I love watching your videos, your old graveyards are so beautiful and the old ancient graves are so well preserved I love it! Thank you for being so sensitive regarding the mausoleum and its contents. God bless you both. My Great grandmothers family came from Cork so this one was kind of special.
We have a local pyramid crypt, Called Rucker's Tomb, after one of the founding families of Everett WA. Many years ago, we were hanging out at the cemetery, it used to be a thing to do to climb up to the top of the pyramid, (it was made of large blocks of stone, like big steps) and we noticed the door was open. The door was a huge slab of stone, but opened easily, with no creaking or ghostly noises. it was empty, the burials all being enclosed in the walls, and since we didn't have a flashlight (it was night, of course) we couldn't see any plaques. I believe it's still used as a family burial, with the last few Ruckers to be interred someday. It was built in probably the 1920s, Everett is a pretty new town, compared to your areas lol. Just a little story from years ago.
Thanks for sharing Ann, I've heard many a story from locals telling me they too played in cemeteries even going into tombs and crypts with remains of people, not knowing really at the time what it was for..innocent times of children playing
Thanks Sue for looking at this cemetery! The two mausoleums are very cool, and shows the natural process of decay. I have a story for you! There was a story I heard as a young man, about the worlds best escape artist being put in a room that was claimed to be escape proof. They told the man he had 30 minutes to try and escape from the room for a prize of $1000! He was put in the room, and he spent the entire 30 minutes checking the ceiling, the floor and all four walls for a way to escape. After 30 minutes he gave up and knocked on the door and said he gave up, to which the person who built the room, pushed the unlocked door open! So never forget to give the doorknob a check for being locked or not!

Another incredible video in an extremely beautiful graveyard. It seems nature has the final say in every respect. Interesting re: the graves of the couple associated with Sean Ross Abbey / Mother and Baby Home. Philomena’s story along with her son Michael Hess’s story have gripped me since the publication of Martin Sixsmith’s book. Thank you Sue for your respectful strolls through the amazing Irish graveyards you’ve taken us to. The view of the village takes my breath away.
Well, it's quite obvious that no one has done anything to care of this cemetery for a very long time. It's a shame that everything has just been left to decay.
Beautiful countyside.. all the greenery 🥰 Ireland is very beautiful land. My grandma said her, and her brother & father went to visit family, over there, even at age 12, around 1934, she remembered the beauty, said it was majestical 🦋 I miss her so much, she told me so many stories, she was very proud of her Irish heritage ☘ She would tell me so many Irish sayings/poems , I can't remember them😥 I wish I wrote them down.
These final resting places are in pretty good shape considering their age. I would like to visit that area. Here in the states we have a limited number of hundred-year-old crypts.. Not much to see in old crypts. I think there is a natural curiosity in old cyrpts and cemeteries.
It's beautiful there. Has a tranquil feel about it. Mother Nature is truly taking back what's Hers. Makes me wonder how much it would take to get a groundskeeping crew out there to clean everything up.
Thanks Tracy, I just loved the moss covering the pyramid, it's so uneven and full of grave markers here, it's usually volunteers who go into these places to clear it
What a beautiful little graveyard….it looked so peaceful, but so uncared for…such a shame. Sone beautiful newer gravestones, and that poor young lady from wartime, aged only 19. Bless her. Wonder where the rest of her family are buried? Seems sad she is in that tiny area all by herself. If only these stones could talk, what a lot of stories they could tell. That was a lovely visit, Thankyou both of you…glad you didn’t go over on an ankle!! Stay safe! Love and light! Helen xx💕🙏😜
Haha Helen you know me, my Father says, you'd fall over a hair on the ground 😆 but yes a beautiful scenic area, the views of the sea are just amazing x
Awesome video Sue DI love the history and the old cemeteries I have a little Irish blood in me and I am from New Zealand 🇳🇿 travel back safe my freind 🦋
How curious that the pyramid mausoleum sits so close to the “stone castle” shape on the hill- the planning was not thought out if they intended to have a proper cemetery! This is unlike many of the cemeteries you’ve toured- the headstones and markers are just scattered willy nilly with dates from 1800’s to mid 1900’s! It leaves me curious about it- but what a gorgeous place to visit- thank you!
Hi from Ayla in Victoria, BC, Canada 😎 Love your video , I love old graveyards and Cemeteries and really old historical buildings ! Blessings to you and your Family 🕯🌹💜
There is a peace at that hidden graveyard. In some way, you would like to clear some of the vines, etc., but in another way, I wouldn’t want to expose such a private and personal space. That was a very poignant find.
Perhaps carry a device with a camera and light which can be inserted in tight spaces in order to view these mysterious tombs you encounter. Very challenging and suspenseful day of discovery while exploring! Thank you.
Another serene and beautiful cemteray. Time and nature has taken over the cemetary. Its so sad to think about all those lovely people being laid to rest there. May they rest in peace
I can imagine how it looked before it was overgrown. It's still a very peaceful place. I think that it honors people that we remember them. Your voice is very calming and I pray for the people as you go along that they are at peace and at rest. Thank you for going to so much work. Sincerely, Carly from Michigan USA
Michigan girl here too . Just love the walks Sue does and I feel like one day she will photograph one of my own family members who lived in Ireland before others migrated to USA
I love your videos! Just wondering, 🤔 perhaps the large mosolum, was used as a public vault? In the days before heavy earth moving equipment, if the ground was too frozen to hand dig a grave, the bodies were placed (temporary) in a vault. Come spring, they were given a proper burial in their final resting place. As for there being human remains still being there, I can only guess that, after it was decommissioned, someone may have purchased it, and repurposed it, as a private mosolum? 🤔
Hi Barb, I've found receiving vaults before with remains in them so I just don't know really but I like the way you think, maybe it was purchased later as a mausoleum, thank you
Great job, and very respectful , im new to your channel and love what you are about. I live in Rio Rico Arizona, on the Mexican border , we have lots of old 👻 towns and of course old cemetery's . Tombstone is my favorite lol , so nice to have found you and will be back... 👍💯
In the late 1800s to around the 1930s there was an explosion of interest in "spiritualism," involving ideas of the after life, Egypt, and ancient mysteries. I wonder if this family were followers of those explorations. And being a part of that movement, built that pyramid as a resting place, or even perhaps, based on the ancient Egyptian religion, a hope for a rebirth? So beautiful and rare. Thank you
What a wonderful cemetery. This was the first time finding your site. I know the steep incline wasn't fun. I do appreciate your time with this hidden gem.
@@SerenitySueGraveyards the landscapes of Ireland are just like the road i grew up on! Ps, dad is in a thoroughly boring cemetery , where fancy headstones aren't allowed. This is a very amazing place! That pyramid is quite beautiful. It would be very cool to know the entire story behind it. Thank you for sharing this special place!!
Thanks Alan, yes it's a shame I couldn't get more info but it is absolutely gorgeous, loved it plus the views in the village amazing 😀
I can't think of a better way to start my day than watching a Serenity Sue video. It makes my day at least tolerable. Very best wishes from America.
Thanks Michael, this one is definitely worth a watch
As always Sue, another great presentation! 👍👍❤❤✌✌Whew, I am exhausted after walking up and down that steep incline with you and your companion!
Hi Richard, thanks so much 🙏
Hi Sue and GV. What a wonderful surprise; this graveyard is. When you first entered it looked like a fairy land. Then finding those two Crypts was the cherry on top. I do hope someone sees this and can lock the door on the pyramid one. 🤞💚 It should not be unlocked.🤦♀
I completely agree with you Gail, as I say they are usually sealed so it's strange for sure
Beautiful place, so peaceful and overtaken mostly by nature. Hope the souls of those buried there are at peace and their bodies were not desecrated! However, it was an awesome discovery, thankyou so much for your intrepid sense of adventure, courage and dedication, God Bless from far away New Zealand ♥
Thanks Irene, I appreciate it, you know I've come to realise, it's only bones, their souls are in a better place, it's sad but like you now I wonder if there was some vandalism or grave robbing going on
You are a brave Lady to be getting down on the ground filming. God bless you Lass!
Thanks Brenda, not brave, just very curious x x
Great explore guys, really enjoyed it 👍
Hey Bob, thank you 😊
I just found your channel. Wonderful! We live in the USA. Thank you for the tour of this lovely cemetery.
Hey, welcome to my channel we have a great community here, hope you enjoy all my videos 🌹
@@SerenitySueGraveyards thanks. I am binge watching your videos. I just can’t stop. It took a little bit to understand the accent but I understand almost everything now.
Thank you so much, I never knew I had an accent until I started youtube 😅
Always makes my day really enjoy your video's
Thanks Mary ❤️
Just found you Sue and GV...and subscribed...absolutely fascinating video...I love looking around cemeteries too...as someone said...they all have their stories and I love to hear them...thank you both...look forward to catching up on your other videos...God bless xxx
Hi Monica thanks very much for subscribing, appreciate it ❤️
I really enjoyed that thank you for posting it .
Thanks so much John
Another incredible video in an extremely beautiful graveyard. It seems nature has the final say in every respect.
Interesting re: the graves of the couple associated with Sean Ross Abbey / Mother and Baby Home. Philomena’s story along with her son Michael Hess’s story have gripped me since the publication of Martin Sixsmith’s book. Thank you Sue for your respectful strolls through the amazing Irish graveyards you’ve taken us to. The view of the village takes my breath away.
Thank you, it's avery sad story x
Wow, that was crazy it was open. Good for you for closing the best you could. ❤️
Hi MMS, yes strange it was open, no lock nothing, yes we made sure it was closed back
Well, it's quite obvious that no one has done anything to care of this cemetery for a very long time. It's a shame that everything has just been left to decay.
Oh Gary I have seen far worse believe me, plenty forgotten people 😢
@@SerenitySueGraveyards So sad.🥺
It is x
Great video Sue! That door was very intriguing!👍
Thanks Kris, I'm still shocked that door was open too
so beautiful 😍 and what an amazing find Sue x
Thanks Julia x
i love it when you and grave visitations peeks inside the vaults, crypts and mausoleums and we get to see the bone, coffins, etc
Me too, curiosity is healthy and it's educational too
Awesome...ty for sharing 💓
Thanks Kninefly ❤️
Beautiful countyside.. all the greenery 🥰 Ireland is very beautiful land. My grandma said her, and her brother & father went to visit family, over there, even at age 12, around 1934, she remembered the beauty, said it was majestical 🦋 I miss her so much, she told me so many stories, she was very proud of her Irish heritage ☘ She would tell me so many Irish sayings/poems , I can't remember them😥 I wish I wrote them down.
Ahh that's beautiful she loved Ireland , I am very blessed here
So beautiful and peaceful, I can imagine this is what it looked like 100 plus years ago. It’s enchanting
Hi Monica, yes enchanting for sure x
These final resting places are in pretty good shape considering their age. I would like to visit that area. Here in the states we have a limited number of hundred-year-old crypts.. Not much to see in old crypts. I think there is a natural curiosity in old cyrpts and cemeteries.
I love getting a little look in, even if there is nothing, it's nice to see the style inside
Love the job you do Sue. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much
Beautiful grave yard xx 😘 bless how rests there xx 😘
Thanks Wendy x
It's beautiful there. Has a tranquil feel about it. Mother Nature is truly taking back what's Hers. Makes me wonder how much it would take to get a groundskeeping crew out there to clean everything up.
Thanks Tracy, I just loved the moss covering the pyramid, it's so uneven and full of grave markers here, it's usually volunteers who go into these places to clear it
I just love all this older stuff, and i love your accents i will be watching every one of your post.thank you for all you do its AMAZING
Hi Cheryl, thanks so much 🙏
What a beautiful little graveyard….it looked so peaceful, but so uncared for…such a shame.
Hi Sherald, appreciate it, a little of Irish is good ❤️
How curious that the pyramid mausoleum sits so close to the “stone castle” shape on the hill- the planning was not thought out if they intended to have a proper cemetery! This is unlike many of the cemeteries you’ve toured- the headstones and markers are just scattered willy nilly with dates from 1800’s to mid 1900’s! It leaves me curious about it- but what a gorgeous place to visit- thank you!
You're welcome as always
You guys are awesome!! Love the pyramid.
Thank you Shela, it was just amazing
That was so cool to see. The ones that aren’t maintained are the best ones for me. Thanks for showing this resting place.
Yes I like the old decaying ones too
Sue you guys do a great job, wow looks a bit eerie in there in the walls all that foliage and overgrown graves……thanks for the presentation 🙏
Thanks Riff, I actually very seldom get a eerie feeling looking inside, I'm always curious I suppose x
Wow,that's awesome. You should get permission to clean and uncover that beautiful old cemetery.
We live 4 hours from here so unfortunately I couldn't make it happen x
What a beautiful view and the cemetery was incredible! Liked, commented, and subscribed!
Hey Tina, thank you so much, it means a lot to me 🌹
Hi from Ayla in Victoria, BC, Canada 😎
Love your video , I love old graveyards and Cemeteries and really old historical buildings !
Blessings to you and your Family 🕯🌹💜
Hey V Team, thanks so much 🙏
It’s a beautiful cemetery … but I agree with Serenity Sue, the Pyramid mausoleum is beautiful.
Yes it is, I wouldn't like to see it cleaned completely, I love the natural growth that surrounds it
Lots of trip hazards there! Beautiful, really well done x. The mausoleum was a bit of a surprise😳
Hey Shirley x very hard to walk around, plus lots of stingy nettles
That was incredible Sue! And you walking up and down that hill! I'd never make it! Safe travels! 🙏
Oh believe me I paid for it, I've back issues so the last 2 days I'm suffering x
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Oh no! If I do too much walking it's hips, back and knees! Bless your heart ❤️ Be well!
Oh that's me in a nutshell, I've arthritis so just gotta try keep mobile
Wow. You can see that it is actually a very beautiful and peaceful place of burial. It should be cleaned up and restored! Lovely just so Lovely.
I think they are trying to clean, not an easy task for volunteers, as soon as they sort an area its growing back again x
There is a peace at that hidden graveyard. In some way, you would like to clear some of the vines, etc., but in another way, I wouldn’t want to expose such a private and personal space. That was a very poignant find.
Hi Amy, I always love thos little cemeteries hidden, mostly forgotten, which is one of the main reasons I do this, loved the growth on the pyramid x
Lovely County Cork. I love that area, Kerry, Killarney as well.
Cork is stunning, especially the west and more rural parts, Killarney is like heave, absolutely amazing
Perhaps carry a device with a camera and light which can be inserted in tight spaces in order to view these mysterious tombs you encounter. Very challenging and suspenseful day of discovery while exploring! Thank you.
Thanks Fred, I recently purchased one 😀
Another serene and beautiful cemteray. Time and nature has taken over the cemetary. Its so sad to think about all those lovely people being laid to rest there. May they rest in peace
Yes it's in such a beautiful setting sad to see decay but that's life
Thank you once again. ❤
So very welcome Sonja x
I can imagine how it looked before it was overgrown. It's still a very peaceful place. I think that it honors people that we remember them. Your voice is very calming and I pray for the people as you go along that they are at peace and at rest. Thank you for going to so much work. Sincerely, Carly from Michigan USA
Hi Simply, we always say a prayer leaving them there x
Michigan girl here too . Just love the walks Sue does and I feel like one day she will photograph one of my own family members who lived in Ireland before others migrated to USA
Thank you ❤️
Beautifully amazing. It does look like people have been there as some graves are cleaned off. Amazing video. Great job.
Thanks very much ❤️
Thanks! Great video as usual❤️
Ahh thanks so much best Aunty 🌹❤️
@@SerenitySueGraveyards 👵🏻❤️👍🏻
Hi, I'm glad to meet you, welcome to the channel and to Ireland, thanks very much ❤️
In the late 1800s to around the 1930s there was an explosion of interest in "spiritualism," involving ideas of the after life, Egypt, and ancient mysteries. I wonder if this family were followers of those explorations. And being a part of that movement, built that pyramid as a resting place, or even perhaps, based on the ancient Egyptian religion, a hope for a rebirth? So beautiful and rare. Thank you
Yes I do think that definitely this was based on the idea of what you said
Awesome video keep em coming
Thanks Martin
Wow brilliant place Sue its been long forgotten I'm sure 🙂
Hey Deirdre very much forgotten
What a wonderful cemetery. This was the first time finding your site. I know the steep incline wasn't fun. I do appreciate your time with this hidden gem.
Thanks Marie I appreciate it
I enjoyed that. Subscribed. Thank you.
Hey Sue, love your name 😘 thanks so much for subscribing
I love the Irish brogue! Subscribed. ❤️
Hi Linda thank you so much, I really appreciate it 🌹
@@SerenitySueGraveyards the landscapes of Ireland are just like the road i grew up on! Ps, dad is in a thoroughly boring cemetery , where fancy headstones aren't allowed. And, as i thought this, I could just here my dad, almost, say, "you got that right! " 😂. Haha. Dad had an answer for everything. He was ...superb. I , myself, don't/cannot really claim to be Irish ...dad sure could! He was like a ...laughing , brillant day.... Ireland's .own.
Lovely view at the end dear🌏🕊
Oh that was gorgeous my idea of heaven
You don't see many mausoleums that are pyramid shaped, but this was interesting to see. I have seen a few pyramid shaped ones on my own cemetery tours throughout the last two years in Chicago IL and surrounding suburbs! Absolutely cool architecture for sure
They are amazing I think I've found 5 now, 2 of them were in the one cemetery
Absolutely fabulous!
Thanks Lori ❤️
Beautiful village at the end, reminds me of some small villages Newfoundland or Nova Scotia, Canada.
It was absolutely stunning perfect place oh sounds amazing 👏
This is very beautiful and serene. Actually in accord with nature and the earth. Lovely place to rest in peace.
Hi Allison, it is very beautiful
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Thank you for replying. Enjoyed this video very much. I was adopted as a baby, and recently found out that my biological family and ancestors come from Scotland/Ireland. I hope to visit one day.
Wow really, well I hope you can visit x x
Hi sue just want to say.. I love Yr videos.. Great work.. so I would like to tell you that here in naas Co kildare there is an old grave yard on the Dublin road.. it has the same pyramids as this one.. there are 2 of them and most of the de burghs.. probably didn't spell there name right. Lol family are buried there.. there are tunnels underneath which they only made safe not so long ago.. hope you will come to see it.. lots of Earl's and there family buried there also.. thanks sue.. 😊
Hey Linda, yes I actually did a video on that cemetery amazing pyramids there and they did and were repairing them which is brilliant 👏
Oh I will look for it. That's exciting. Keep up the good exploring.. thanks sue.. 😊
Thanks Linda x
❤so cool nice to see this I've never been to Ireland but I love it so much already
This was such a scenic village, I could have stayed there forever just looking out to sea
@@SerenitySueGraveyards absolutely I would've loved it
I Love your voice . I could listen to you talk all day
Thanks so much Patricia 🙏
Your interest, care & most of all, RESPECT, is so touching. God bless you. Question: why is that the bramble & ivy hasn’t covered the door of that mausoleum? It’s almost like it’s been purposely cleared away by someone.
Ooh yes Kristen, good question..the fact its open and cleared too would make you wonder 🤔
Hallo Sue, danke für das mitnehmen
Liebe Grüße aus Hamburg
Hi Judith, thanks for watching x
