So sad to see old graveyards neglected. Most kin are gone or too old to tend them. I would love to travel back in time when the church was useable and the church filled.
IT’s history I think if the got the local community to come out a give there free time they would I would be to scared to touch anything incase I got in trouble but I would if they got a group together that was aloud to tidy up regardless of what you believe it’s history and a Shame
I've travelled all over the world, and have been to Ireland several times. In my humble opinion there is no lovelier accent than the Irish brogue, I enjoy listening too him, too, lol. And... the second best accent is a southern drawl!
Fantastic work bringing these forgotten resting places back to life. Curiosity makes me imagine what this small church and graveyard would have looked like in its prime when it was tended by the parish who are now long gone. So peaceful.
Wow!! I've NEVER seen a beehive shaped mausoleum before!! How ABSOLUTELY unique!! Thanks for taking us on yet another AMAZING ADVENTURE!! XXXX ❤👍💖🤗💞👏 Ps I hope Sue and all who are feeling poorly in your household are starting to feel better!! 🙏🙏💞🤗💖❤
It’s comforting to know when you pass, you leave all the annoying obligations of the living, like taxes, laundry, shopping, politics, war, etc., behind. Of course I will miss my coffee! 😉
Wow! This was beyond interesting. The back story, the overgrown cemetery, the bee hive! Just wow! And how very weird that the nurse is buried there, too. Thank you, sir, for hacking through that jungle to bring us this story.
I am from Louisiana US. I enjoy walking thru grave yards and cemetery. So your channel is just right for me! I have never seen a beehive shaped mausoleum! Thank you for sharing this fascinating video.
Loved seeing the old Graves very interesting and the Beehive must be one of a kind thanks for showing.would of loved to have seen inside of the church it looks Amazing.
So interesting!! Glad the trust restored it. Church is historic and I hope they clean the area. Thanks GV💕. Congratulations on over 20k subs🎉 ( hope Sue is feeling better💕)
@Grave Visitations, this is an interesting story indeed. We're you able to find any information about his wife? Thank you for taking us to such an enchanting and beautiful place. ❤
Oooh I'm now curious, probs too many detective shows, but I wonder if Mrs Kelly could've been his mother. When you mentioned he'd had children to staff it did make me wonder! Curiouser and curiouser! 🤔
Thank you for the interesting history and the tours of these beautiful cemeteries. These cemeteries are like a magic kingdom, everything is so beautiful, kind of scary, but the headstones and mausoleums are just amazing and beautiful to see. The Beehive mausoleum is just fantastic, I’ve never seen anything like that before. That’s so interesting that the nurse was buried with them, she lived longer than either of them. Thank you so much for this very. Interesting video, loved it ❤
There’s a church near me in Pennsylvania built during the civil war (mid 1800’s) with a spire like that. It has a huge lovely graveyard. And across the street is a brick walled graveyard full of revolutionary war veterans. It’s really neat!
Hi GV hope you are well this grave yard is so over grown but there is some lovely headstones wow that is amazing that 🐝 hive very interesting thanks so much for sharing lovely video GV take care 👍
Very interesting, GV. D8id you discover WHY the church was abandoned, and why there are no dwelkings in the immediate area. When i first saw the position of tge church, i thought it had been originally situated in a Plague Village, but the 1700+ build date would not bear that out. So, I'm stumped as to why the church and its cemetery are situated on their own, so far from houses. You be careful plodding about on wet grass and the like, GV, and the autumn leaves make grave hunting an racen trickier. Good grips on your shoe soles, and a firm grip on your arm by Serenity Sue, when the weather is too appalling to sally forth! 😅
I've seen a few churches and graveyards in the middle of fields in Ireland but they were by far worse for wear then this one, this one has better structure Angie.
Hello from Browns Point, Washington & a big Thank-you for a nice walk-very interesting! I wonder about his wife & what she thought about her son being exiled to an outer cottage. Stay safe & good health to you & your wife. I did a little research & found that R.Cooke's sons were all illegitimate. Also, Aldolphus was just as weird as his father. (The googulator knows all😏)
Wow.❤️ it’s wonderful to know that there are some families that actually care about their ancestors, and the people that cared for them….just beautiful.
Hello Cathal that was certainly awesome cemetery and the Cook Family Mausoleum love this video ❤❤❤ Thank you Cathal and Sue from West Bend Wisconsin 35 miles north of Milwaukee
Hey GV. I came across this little beauty when researching beehive structures around the UK a while back. The mausoleum was restored by a group called Follies Trust. The follies being "joyful little buildings that aim to please". They have a book out over there. I loved the church spire and overgrown building. Thanks for risking life and limb to get into those stones for us! Deb of Oz XXX
Thanks for the hard yards you do through lank growth and brambles, often wet and clammy with hidden footfalls and decaying ironmongery to bark your shins. I respect the idea of reincarnation but I thought it supposed the eternal cycle of an immortal soul. So would a sole come back as a bee with its life expectancy of 2 months? "Hey Mildred! Don't swat that fly. It might be Aunt Agatha!"
I just found this channel a few day ago and I am impressed with it. I love the old graveyards and the old tombstones. I've subscribed and definitely liked all the videos I've watched. I'm going to share with my oldest daughter. A big Thank You from the state of Texas. God bless ya'll.
And whenever you read dates from the early part of the 20th century, I always think of how old my father (born 1906) and my mother (born 1911)would have been in relation to them!
Same here. Especially because my paternal granddad would be 126 years old tomorrow. 8/19/1898. My grandma would be 125 next week. 8/27/1899. Miss my grandparents the most.
Thank you, for the tour of this beautiful Church, and graveyard. My Grandad, was a Kelly, and there are quite a few family members, still there. Love your channel.
I wanted to come and tell you that you are the best in talking about graves and their history of the past. When I come to look at your videos, its like I am listening to a story. Thank you kind sir.
I really like you grave yard you are at, also I like the History too. I would really like to travel myself to all the places but I travel by watching you and really enjoy this very much and thank you. God bless you
Great Church❤️don't know why you would want to come back as a bee they don't live long. Maybe they plugged the hole cause bees were getting in🙂 Hope y"all get better soon❤️🙏❤️
Wow! I’ve never seen anything like that! It’s so wonderful that at least the mausoleum was tended to. It’s definitely worthy of a little care. Maybe trending the whole graveyard is currently to much.
So sorry for all the trouble in trying to see graves. That bee grave is amazing yes and thanks for showing us and the story i also believe in reincarnation but i don't know what i would want to be.
What a peaceful and unique mausoleum! I just found your channel and find these videos of the resting place of people to be intriguing and curious- and yes, sad- but I believe that those who have passed are in a place of peace. You can just feel the calmness and quiet of these cemeteries - thank you from the U.S in Virginia!
Looks like walking through a real thicket! And I'm glad that a bee didn't buzz by near the microphone as you walked by the hive! That would have been scary!
You are remembering people that have been long forgotten....I read once on a tomb stone...."As long as you remember me, I don't care if everyone else forgets".....
as time goes on ; they will be digging around these sights like ancient egypt; we wont be here; its very strange; me being morbidly curious since childhood about death tombs etc; and now at 65 the very visceral sensation that that is to be my new home soon for the rest of time and how many generations we walk on that are dust; we are here for a brief instant ( im hope theres something nice after ) ; beckett says in ' waiting for godot " the light gleams for an instant and then its night once more "
The fact that her Nurse is buried with them, clearly signifies the very strong bond of love and deep mutual respect that united him with her, often Nurses in wealthy families were considered by the children whose was care by from birth to adulthood, as being their true mother of the heart.
My mam was 1 of 16 children ,lived in 2 up 2 down. Her dad a miller .Im up to 1600 on ancestry .Found my mams parents and 2 brothers in an unmarked grave .Cant find alot of them ,some died in the workhouse .Four children died in infancy .I love reading the stones ,because we keep their memories alive ,like the pictures.I love the trees they seem to live long past us .We must never forget the fore fathers and mothers, because we wouldnt be here ,if it wasnt for their struggles .❤

Can you imagine how nice this place would have looked back in the day. The church was in use and the burial ground would have been tidy.
AGREE. WHENEVER I SEE THESE STRUCTURES & SURROUNDING GROUNDS, I ALWAYS THINK ABOUT THAT.
So sad to see old graveyards neglected. Most kin are gone or too old to tend them. I would love to travel back in time when the church was useable and the church filled.

Interesting story. Very unusual mausoleum. Cool looking church!
Beautiful church. How sad it is not cared for.
The grave yard looks peaceful even if not tended.

What an interesting and peculiar way to be buried. But, to each his own and a hard novelty to find at that! Be well Cathal.

Ireland had a foreign settler elite who had their own private churches on their estates, they would not have natives living next to it or them.
@irishboer7124 I am much obliged to you for imparting your native knowledge, sir.
