    3:13 with the heatsink fins arranged horizontally like this, there's probably almost nowhere for hot air to escape. One side is blocked by the RAM, and the other - by this massive I/O shield.

    Awesome review - however I think the best combo for this case would be full air cooling for both cpu / gpu and instead of that radiator add another slim fan - I think temps will be much more balanced that way all around - I would personally be really interested in another video exploring that possibility. The short answer is not to air cool your cpu in this case

    • @christodang
      @christodang 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, if the only way CPU thermals work in this case is via watercooling with an AIO, then there's no point exploring hybrid cooling for the GPU unless Thorzone decides to implement something that can extend the volume of the case to accommodate other hardware. Thorzone's last test didn't work out too well, but they've changed the panels to provide more airflow since so would be good to see revisited videos once the production units are out.

    I'm still very excited for the Mjolnir. I've been basically expecting the results you posted regarding thermals. I'm planning an air-cooled build, with higher end hardware but no overclock. While a 120mm AIO can really help cool one component specifically, it seems to me it then becomes a bit of a choke point for the rest of the hardware as a whole. I'll be using two 120mm fans, likely as exhaust since the front of the case is vastly open. A glass panel on the CPU side, and depending on thermals when gaming, which ever side panel I'm comfortable with for the GPU side. The Thorzone team is really committed to making this case the best it can be and even now are making some last minute changes (but quality, well thought out ones) in time for what seems like before the shipping production batch begins. It's certainly not a beginner friendly case to build in, but then again, most SFF cases are not. I've got quite some experience with cases around this size, smaller and larger, and have confidence it'll suffice for my needs. I've always been interested in the Loque Ghost S1, but, always felt I was better off just going with an NCase M1 (as I too, would want a larger top hat.) Where as to make a good internally matched/aesthetically pleasing build, I've always felt the Dancase A4 was too limiting. I'd also like to say that your cinematography skills are quite good, and these videos were also quite good as well.

    • @Madhawk1995
      @Madhawk1995 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like you are at a loss then because a ghost with both components cooled on air L12s and gpu stock cooler would be great in an XS config. The only real upgrade would be Ncase and everything on air.

    • @JustinBone
      @JustinBone 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Madhawk1995 I like the aesthetic of the Ghost but prefer it second to the NCase, and the Mjolnir most. I had a fully custom water-cooled M1 before and though it was perfectly sufficient I want something smaller because I like the idea of going as small as I can and keeping an aesthetic I like. I'm annoyingly particular.

    Regarding the AIO impact on the PSU, I have a slightly different than normal setup in my A4 that works well:
    I flipped the PSU from the normal layout so my AIO in the GPU chamber intakes air, it goes through the rad, and the PSU directly takes that air and exhausts it out of the case.
    While it does mean warmer air for the PSU, it also has basically 0 restrictions in the airflow path, so it's basically a non issue. Think that's worth consideration if possible in one's case.

    Hello I hope you can read this optimum tech. Can you do normal radiator cooling with expensive fan (noctua) vs a push pull cheap fans setup? Buying twice the number of cheap fans for push pull is still cheaper than 1 noctua. Which setup can get cooler?

  • @muuubiee
    @muuubiee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should've flipped it and made the fan as an exhaust out the top.
    If you can't put in an L12 or similar, I suspect you need to use the water cooling for the CPU. It should still be exhausting air out the top, since as you know, you don't want hot air to hit other components.

    Did I miss something or was there no testing for a negative pressure setup? Wouldn't a case like this benefit the most by not dumping heat from the radiator directly into the system but rather exhausting that heat instead? It looks like they could add more ventilation vertically on the sides, at lest 6-8 more rows of those ventilation cutouts on each side would probably help a lot. With the tight tolerances I highly doubt anyone could fit dust filters on the interior of the sides to better facilitate a negative pressure setup though.

  • @wusselfussel
    @wusselfussel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the whole concept of cramming all those components into a small space and either in- or exhale hot air from or to each other does not make sense. I like the general idea of those liquid coolers. Heat is transported away effectivly and space efficiently. But then it is transformed into hot air again, which is then blown on another component.
    If you have to make a sandwich design work, maybe a sort of central air duct might help. Bring air in from one end. Maybe with a fan and an aggressively shaped nozzle. Collect the air into a flat ducting, which brings cold air to the inside of the sandwich. Then both sides (e.g. power supply and radiator) can use that air for cooling and exhaust it to the outside.
    Otherwise, maybe a sort of external cooling would be very effective. Where air intake and exhaust are external.

    Isn't the radiator at the bottom flush with the desk? And aren't those liquid cooling tubing obstructing the airflow too?
    I would raise the case from the desk at least 5mm

    • @jm8080ful
      @jm8080ful 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The case has a feet that raises it exactly 5mm, they just designed it so that it looks like it is sitting flat for a clean look.

      @@jm8080ful wow, but if the feet extends all the frame, where does the air come in/out? 😣?

    Sandwich layout cases are long gone option for me now that I've bought the impact dtx, but I don't see how this case at $300 would be an option when the ncase m1 and ghost s1 exist for less.

    • @chasingresonance8124
      @chasingresonance8124 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may say $300 for the case, but on the kickstarter it's closer to $400 because shipping costs and tax rates are insane. For a case that hit 100C on an 8700k on air.

    thank you for this. i have a dan a4 sfx v3 with asetek 545lc and ryzen 7 1800x and vega 64 reference. i was able to tame the vega 64 reference cooler with undervolting and custom fan curve. but im toying with the idea of using the 545lc aio to cool the vega 64 with a modified nzxt g12 to fit vega 64 die . dan a4 case layout is almost the same as mjolnir minus that i cant flip the internals. do you think its worth it? ill just air cool the 1800x i have a spare c7 and noctua 92mm slim.

    Some question about case. i have a ghost with 2070 super, but it picked maximum 80 degree when i play games using qhd monitor.
    Because of this reason, i am wondering to buy mjornir. But i will not use aio on mjolnir.
    Is it worth for me? How about your ophinion?

    First off I just want to say I love the channel and you always have a well thought out opinion on everything you review/explore.
    I bought a Ghost S1 based on your feedback and recommendations. Now I am in no way saying you have any responsibility to the quality of their products but I think it may be prudent for you to look into issues people are reporting around products. The colour mismatches, the poor customer service and the quality control are three things anyone buying a Louqe Ghost S1 needs to be aware of. I would advise anyone about to spend their money on any of the more high end cases to go look on the SFF redit\discord. You will find some very helpful folk who have gone through it all before.
    My personal experience; There are clear bends in the bottom plate and the circle piece of threaded metal has come out of the SSD caddy so you can’t actually remove it. Top hats are rarely available and are in most cases a different shade. It’s such a shame as the case really is beautiful. I hope they get their customer service and quality issues under control.
    Sorry for the rant!
