- I've owned multiple Luxman audiophile amplifiers. Comparing it to the Accuphase, which did I think is the best audiophile for highend audio?

Damn, I was not expecting to see Above & Beyond on a hi-fi channel! Nice one! 👌
Thanks!
After auditioning Accuphase E380 and E4000 myself, I can wholeheartedly attest that your observations on the house sound of Accuphase integrated amps is right on point. Very invating rich midrange is their hook for sure. However, for my taste they were too rolled off on the highs, and soft on bass impact. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Thanks for sharing!
I am persian and love Greece, summer vacation there many times , love food and people. I am also Audiophile . You have very nice gear .
😊😊❤
Thank you! 😃
Good review.
Blue Monday is not by Depeche Mode, but by New Order :-)
Yeah - I totally misspoke. My bad. :)
Nice review! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent review and matches what I hear from youtube videos about Accuphase - greats mids, build and looks. But cannot replay the strong bass I need on funk and hiphop and which my Marantz PM11S2 delivers in spades.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@connorduke4619 So we have to wait what the new Marantz Model 10 brings on the table. I will compare it to E-5000.
@@richardsaila8073 Would be great to hear that comparison!
I'm using a luxman 507z, antipodes cx/ex (roon outputting via hqplayer) to lessloss echo's end, cornwall VIs. Know what you mean re luxman mid. Re upper harshness with with the horn, I've found hqplayer focused on minimal phase 128 DOP has helped.
@@allanbarr1975 Nice setup!
Accuphase doesn’t need to shout about their quality!
Found an E470 and have paired it with a set of Focal Kanta 3s. Love love love!
You need your ears checked by a professional.
I am curious how this Accuphase compares to Pass Labs Int-250. I am not sure which would be better for my Dynaudio Heritage Specials.
I did not like the sound of my Pass Labs. It's a great unit - just completely personal preference.
I am looking for an endgame amp for my Dynaudio Confidence 20 which share the same sound characterics with your Heritage Special. Class A ist out for me because of heat dissipation in summer times. I wonder how the new Marantz Model 10 compares to the E-5000 on our Dynaudios. I am also considering the Electricompaniet integrated. As of now my Nuprime EVO STA (together with the EVO DAC-2) does an excellent job, and uprading to the EVO TWO monos is also an option. But then: what endgame preamp? (Accuphase, Holo Audio,...) 😂
Hey Mr. Greek any chance you are going to check out Ypsilon, my friend swears by them, he currently has the Phaethon and the DAC 1000 after downsizing to 2 boxes
They said the should be sending me one. I've heard it's amazing!
Check Yamaha C-5000/M-5000 combo...
I have a Schiit-y budget. Best, D. from Stl.
my man🤑🤑🤑🤑
Have you compared this E-5000 (or 4000) vs. the new Luxman I-509Z (or 507Z)? These new Luxman models have really blown me away even though I have been a big fan of Accuphase products since the 90s.
Hello - my personal feeling on the new Z models (compared to my 509x) is that they have moved more towards the cool side. It's not bad, just different. But I admit I typically prefer to tube amps over solid state.
@GreekAudioGeek thanks for your quick response, I totally agree with you on tube amp. The tonality of the voice and instruments is much more airy and sweeter than many solid state amps. I still have the Cary SE 300B classic, purchased back in 1997, running of the original Western Electric, pairing with Classic Spendor 100. To be honest, I have tried so many systems after, which some of them cost 3 more times, but I still love my old setup! It's still my endgame (for now 😆). Have a great day Sir, subscribed.
Very good, honest, and entertaining review of this Accuphase integrated. There is plenty of competition in that price range though, and many include DAC and phono. How much is the Accuphase with those options?
Hi - I honestly don't know the price of those options.
The DAC and Phono modules are roughly $1500 each depending on where you are in the world.
Do you ever state which Luxman models you owned and listened to? I just don’t understand how you can just state a brand and go with it.. I don’t have a pony in the race and I’m sure both are great but you specifically talk about an Accuphase model but talk about Luxman as a brand. Is that fair?. maybe I missed that part?
Hi - I did list them. I owned three of them. And I've listened to 3 additional ones.
@ can you give me the timestamp where you listed the model numbers so I can go back and watch again? Thanks
Sorry - I'm too busy. I talk in multiple videos about my owning the 590ASE, the LX-380 and the 509X and comparing them to the new Z models.
@@sharingtheadventure Lazy much?
Do the tone controls help boosting the bass? Not everyone has a sub.
Yes.
And what about vs Moon integrated amps? Maybe it is worth to also compare them to Accuphase and Luxman.
They are not interested in having me listen to their stuff here in the Greek Crib.
I can tell you one of the high end dealers I talk to often had a terrible experience with them blaming the customer erroneously. He dropped them cold turkey after that.
When I have heard them in other situations they are mediocre but I can't say for sure if it was them or the set up.
@@GreekAudioGeek Καλησπέρα from Athens! OK, I understand. I mentiobed them because a have a relatively old i-7 RS integrated, being highly satisfied from its sound and build quality, playing with an old pair of Martin Logan Ascent i's. I used this amp after a Jadis Orchestra (which I still own) and liked Moon's sweet / "tube sound" profile, with the power of a solid state. Based on my experience, I thought that also their newer models would be comparable to high level companies such as Accuphase. Also interesting to note that one of Moon's managers / owners is Costas Koulisakis, Canadian / Greek, and I thought that it represented an interesting touchpoint with you...
Thank you. Yes I had reached out to him in the past and he was not interested - which is totally OK. I respect their decision.
They do make nice gear. I agree with you their older stuff has a beautifully sweet sound to it which is very nice.
And I was in Athens last month for a wedding. I miss being there!
I prefer the dark side. Gryphon
Nice stuff for sure.
How does Accuphase compared to Tube amplifiers
Depends on which tube amplifier, which type of tube and design of the tube amp (SET, Push-pull), etc.
@GreekAudioGeek Set single end and Leben CS600 , looking for Solid state amplifier to have an alternative during hot Summer
For solid state is a good amp. It will never recreate the magic of tubes though.
@GreekAudioGeek Thanks, I have experienced myself the Solid state expensive 3x not able to meet mid range of Tube amplifiers, especially the SET amplifiers, last 10-years I have been looking for a Solid state amplifier which can bring the similar midrange sound as of Tube amplifiers if not same and I haven't succeeded.
If possible, I want you to review Spec Corporation class D amplifiers and share us your experience
@GreekAudioGeek It's a great pleasure to interact with a reviewer who has similar sound liking.
I will subscribe you, thanks
Blue Monday is New Order🤦🏿
Yup - I mispoke. My bad.
How can one confuse New Order 👍 with Depeche Mode 👎? 😳
@@richardsaila8073 It's called being human and not being perfect. :)
@@richardsaila8073How can one be so narrow minded? 🤷🏻♂️ ✌️
@@amb3cog It was not meant that serious. 😉
When you buy Accuphase, buy Class-A, i.e E-800 or E-700. Forget about the Class-AB units.
I don't like class A solid state.
Why buy Accuphase ? Just buy Kenwood it's basically the same thing.
@chuck LOL. I think someone is crying out for attention it looks like.
@GreekAudioGeek I believe it was Jiro Kasuga a Trio Corp ( Kenwood) engineer that went on to create something better.
Accuphase. So the way I see it both came from the same person.
The Kenwood name was adopted due to the success of Kenwood food mixers .
Permission was granted but not for use in the UK, where it's still called Trio.
@@chuckmaddison2924 It's still a dumb comment.
Accuphase=Samurai.
The only caveat is that a Samuri would not sell his mother in law to purchase an Accuphase, whereas I will sell her even for the most humble Accuphase. Excellent Review!
Thank you! To be honest, I'd sell my mother-in-law for some Greek olive oil. ;)
