Go check out videos of how to use the Bachmann ez command controller, you can program the engines to individual numbers so you can run both engines at the same time independently.
Earlier Australian N scale modellers would be familiar with Ibertren as some of their items were sold in Australian liveries in the past (1980s/90s). Particularly their RENFE DL500 "World Series" ALCo diesel electric loco, which passed for the New South Wales 44 class. I've also seen some of their passenger and freight stock was also sold in NSW liveries, although less accurate.
Locos seem to be mostly based on Bachmann Junior locos, just with Spanish bodies. There's a Bachmann digital set with two engines 'Digby' and 'Charlie' and they're both steam and diesel engines
Great set. The controller is very known & I have one in my line up. You just need to download the Bachman E Z command controller. Which whilst basic can Handel many functions & locomotives
The controller in this set looks like the bachmann e-z command they might buy in to make their sets. Still quiet a set for the price. Seems like i have another excuse to get to spain XD. I wanted to do my own research of ibertren and than i got your video suggeste quiet happy about it. also like the fact that you get extra powerclips to bridge over the sidings.
Glad you found the video.. and yes I will definitely be looking out for more of their products, would like to see what they can do with highly detailed products
I have some Ibertren N gauge wagons/van and they run well with my other continental locomotives and wagon and van. I think I bought them in the late 1990's.
Very old company known for HO and N scale. As someone mentioned here N was originally AC and later DC. They actually had quite a range of very good models, personally I think the cranes that came in several colours and arrangements certainly look good. Very detailed and fully functional to create any atmosphere you want on a crash scene. I pick them up whenever I can 😁
They originally produced N scale models and sets ( very odd as they were originally 3 rail) they then moved to 2 rail N gauge and then HO. MG Sharp in Sheffield ( now defunct) were importers into the U.K.
Ibertren is actually a VERY popular company. They specialize in Spanish models, though they're actually not HO scale. Well, not exactly. Since Spain uses a broad gauge (roughly 5 foot 6 inch) the models themselves are slightly under scale to your typical HO scale trains. Model wise, they primarily produce HO models, of a VERY high quality and detail level. For example, their RENFE 242 tank locomotive not only has sprung buffers, but it has a modeled (and working) screw link coupling, and a pair of safety chains on each end of the locomotive. The 'starter set' you have here, is actually old. Well, old in that they have stopped making them. Ibertren hasn't produced any new starter packs since 2008. Which makes sense, as in 2004, the brand had been relaunched after having closed in 1992. From 2004, to 2008, the company was trying to find its footing once more, and was releasing very 'toy like' train packs, in line with their highly detailed models. By 2008, though, they ceased production of these packs.
Thankyou for the information.. I did try looking them up for more information but I could not find anything.. in regards to their models I can see some of their models are highly detailed which I will definately be looking out for to try! Thanks for watching!
According to the Ibertren website all the HO equipment is the standard 1/87 th HO scale. I have never come across any broad gauge RTR HO models from any broad gauge country using other than 1/87 th scale. Do you have any verifiable reference for that claim you can point to? It would need to be made close to 1/100 th scale to simulate Spanish broad gauge proportion using HO track. A 1/100 scale giving the equivalent of 1650 mm track. Obviously the models are not that tiny Simpler to just build them under scale gauge giving extra clearance for wheels and valve gear in the same way that all OO RTR does.
The EZ Command is a Bachman product, current ones cost about twice what you paid for the whole set. I have an Ibertran 0-6-0 chassis underneath a Triang Hornby 0-4-0 "Nellie". It performs well and it's smaller diameter wheels correct Triang's traditional over high ride height.
It looks ordinary, and although the steam locomotive has made the details of the outer cylinder, it is only a dispensable decoration. It still looks more like a steam locomotive with an inner cylinder.
They were also sold here in the Netherlands until the early 90's. . They had an H0 Spanish variant of the French CC 7100 loco painted in the livery of the Dutch NS state railways (class 1300). Not 100% accurate. And some German coaches in NS livery. 🙂
In fact this set is from "the new Ibertren". Back in the 70s and 80s every kid wanted a train from this brand (I am refering to the old Ibertren). They started with N scale and 3 rail, later moved to N scale and 2 rails. And they also built in H0 scale. It was the most popular brand in Spain during all these years till the point that you didn't ask for a model train at the shops, but for an Ibertren. This brand disappeared during the 90s. A new company bought Ibertren rights during the 2000s and made some good material (and other not so good). But their spare part policy was a disaster and the brand is now in zombie status: not officially dead but not alive either. If you are intetested in any of the two Ibertren there is plenty of information in Internet. I can translate it for you if needed.
Thankyou very much for that! Really really intriguing this company 🤔 I can see what you mean about the zombie status as their website is very lackluster currently!
Believe Ibertren (Iberian Trains) may now be part of Hornby’s European Stable (Jouef, Ravel, etc), and are possibly producing Hornby’s new TT Range. Spanish company specialising in RENFE products.
Ibertren is not part of Hornby Hobbies International, Electrotren is however. The Hornby TT:120 and Arnold TT:120 ranges are currently exclusively manufactured at partner factories in China 👍
That actually looks like a great starter set. Especially if they are in fact DCC. I think that you got a bargain to be honest. Can you get more track? Or will it connect to Peco flxitrack to expand the circuit? Maybe a clean on the track might help with the stalling?
Yes I thought so too! I need to investigate them a bit more but I think for 2 dcc locos plus the set it is a very good price! In regards to the track I would need to see if it will work with different track.. thanks for watching!
A clone of the bachmann junior range which is a clone of the bachmann thomas range. So it has some kind of sudrian origin, definitley got the same siderods as the bachmann thomas
The issue noted with the axles popping out in the box seems to happen pretty frequently in the Bachmann Thomas range as well. My son's Thomas set actually had a note in the box alerting the user to that possibility, and a diagram showing how to pop the axles back in-- so it seems they anticipate that happening often enough!
Yes I did see they have been going since the 70s just very strange how there doesn't seem to be any official website that I could see anyways.. seems to be very little information..
The Ibertren name has been going for many years. You will notice that the controller is a Bachmann command controller and even though the words are not in English, even an idiot should be able to work out what the words mean.. Check Bachmann command control on the web for the full instructions in English. Note that the new controller has 3 levels under the function button. I would think that you have an older controller.
The ones I have, I bought in the 1970s in NZ and still have them on my layout today 'N' Gauge wagons all made in Spain for memory they were very cheap but acceptable.
Ibertren is an Reborn old train company from spain, they started with toy trains and envolved to Model trains Then they closed for a while, another company buy them and started but with more serious models en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibertren

A fascinating video. The steam loco body looks like a precursor to Electrotren's Sharpe Stewart 0-6-0.

Interesting.. I will have to look at them!
Ibertren are actually quite well known in 009 circles. Ibertren n gauge 0-4-0 chassis are the holy grail for a lot of 009 modellers.
Yes from what I can see they do seem far better known in that guage
Great set. The controller is very known & I have one in my line up. You just need to download the Bachman E Z command controller. Which whilst basic can Handel many functions & locomotives
That controller looks like an early Lokmaus clone (when they were Lenz based) with the hardcoded address buttons
The Lokmaus never looked like that. I’ve got them all, from v1. It’s a rebranded Bachmann E-Z controller.
The controller in this set looks like the bachmann e-z command they might buy in to make their sets. Still quiet a set for the price. Seems like i have another excuse to get to spain XD. Yes I have been told their n guage stuff is good!!

Thanks for the information Chris!!
I had Ibertren N scale points way back in 1980.
I think they were the only manufacturer to make 3-rail N gauge.

They’ve been around for years! Spanish I believe!
Bachmann Junior digital starter set clone, interesting.
That did cross my mind when I was filming.. seems very much like hornby railroad range also

Cute little trains
Hi there is a link to the E-ZCommand DCC Control Centre and its in English
Thanks for tip! 👍

The chassis’s look like bachmann junior chassis
Yes after I looked at the bachmann junior range they do look simular!
Finally, a company that provides a reasonable track. Unlike some overpriced lot that think a little circle is a track.
A clone of the bachmann junior range which is a clone of the bachmann thomas range. So it has some kind of sudrian origin, definitley got the same siderods as the bachmann thomas

La mejor locomotora de ibertren es la bonita 2 4 1 renfe modelo 2200. hicieron pocas y se ha convertido en un objeto de deseo en españa
Ibertren have been around for 50 years.

I prefer steam engines to 5:30 😂
Haha that's fair, I don't mind them both tbh! 😅
Ibertren is a Spanish brand and belongs to the Honby group.
Made in China?
