I dunno. Towards the end of the announcement, the crowd falls entirely silent over what are clearly scripted pauses for cheers. they do not wanted pc gamers, they are not brainwashed by the mobile gaming environment. on pc you already get riots for an 80 usd or 100 usd full price, and almost nobody pays full price for the every six month expansion in the games that run on that model, but waits for a sale. on mobile, having a 10 or 100 usd weekly item sale is perfectly normal and the local whales will pay that for any games they are in, sometime even multiple games. so the immortal price was perfectly acceptable for those players, dropping 100 usd for the daily dungeon run would be ok.

@@Avendesora I don't know, he seems to have original comments on other videos. May be bland takes, but probably just some guy The take is right though. Fuck Blizzard
Blizzard has developed the reverse Midas Touch. Everything they come into contact with seems to go from *gold* to *shit* , its a talent at this point. Even Diablo 4 I'm afraid, which is pretty good based on reviews and overall fan reception, will inevitably meet the same fate.
11:23 The main issue here is that they're manufacturing a problem and then selling you the solution. Instead of charging money to skip the grind, maybe just don't make it so grindy.
While not buying this game just keep these thoughts in your head... "I have a giant backlog of amazing games" "There are better games on GOG" "Grim Dawn is made by better people" "Blizzard is partially owned by China"
Immediate suggestions for alternatives would be Torchlight and Minecraft Dungeons. If someone wants to go down the emulation route Champions of Norrath on the PS2 is awesome too. Grab a used copy of the Diablo 2 Battle Chest if you’re mainly interested in Single Player. Plenty of Diablo-esque ARPGs out there for that itch.
@Pirate Bear what about a Diablo 3 like A-RPG....... cause having ADHD means tye speed and progression of Doablo 2 is the equivalent of slowly putting a Red Hot Knife through my fucking Uretha
@@Sonichero151 immediate thought would be Diablo 3 for console. If giving Acti-Blizzard money is a problem you have used copies and there’s no online requirement. Even has couch co-op on 1 copy. From my limited recollection Torchlight was closer to D3 than D2 as well, but it’s been a while on all them
I can warmly recommend Grim Dawn but the style and setting of the game is more steampunk with magic, so that might not be for everyone. Path of Exile is another, but I personally hate that it has microtransactions and a community you can't opt out of.
I remember a Polygon article titled something like “I played Diablo Immortal while paying for it, and I had a good time.” All the comments were variations on the theme of “No fucking shit, asshole, that’s the whole point.”
Remember the man, the myth, the legend, who said what everyone was thinking during the Diablo Immortal showing. Words immemorial that would shake the future of Blizzard “Is this some sort of out of season April fools joke?”
I remember The Jimquisition got so much shit for covering these stories as they occurred and they got swamped especially on the Diablo 3 Auction House.
Think it could have worked if only lower level catch-up gear was sellable, and the occasional super rare inferno piece that could be auctioned (like WoW's raid BoE's). Everything else would be soulbound like normal.
Hey, didn't hear anything about the gold auction house from the D3 segment. It was almost impossible to save up the amount you'd need to buy a cutting edge weapon for your level. But there was an auto-buy system based on specific thresholds for certain items. I remember buying MF rings from vendors or something an reliably being able to resell them for a solid profit. They sold out in waves so you know it wasn't just some rando picking up a MF ring
I put every legendary I got in the cash auction house. 2-3 dollars for a level 16 legendary mace. 10 dollars for a witch doctor ceremonial mask. It was so bizarre and interacting with it made me feel uneasy, scummy.
I was one of those people decrying the baffling changes they were making to Diablo 3 when you compare it to 1 and 2 and I stuck to my guns and never bought it.

Ahhh you maybe should have scooped them up at $1. No Man's Sky console went down to like $1 a copy and now since the game is half okay they're back up to $20 used I believe. As others have pointed out D3 console never had an AH or needed to be online to play it's basically the superior version of D3.

Part of me even admires the craftmanship that went into the manipulation of Diablo Immortals monetization. Clearly someone with a good insight in human psychology designed this. But how could one betray their profession so.
What do you mean? That's the entire purpose of their profession. If people with problems walked into their office and healthy people walked out they'd be out of business in a week. So the whole section around gold and forum gold is kind of scuffed. Diablo 2 had almost no gold sinks, as well as a limit on the amount of gold which could be held at a time. On top of that, you'd lose a big chunk of that gold on death. It was never going to be a good "currency" for trading. D2jsp actually got started from providing forum gold for people who would make posts or reply in posts. This amount decreased over the years until eventually being zeroed out. While there was no direct way to turn d2jsp gold back into real money and doing so was against the site rules, there was of course a "black market" for forum gold, since nothing stopped people from sending it to each other.

Hey, didn't hear anything about the gold auction house from the D3 segment. It was almost impossible to save up the amount you'd need to buy a cutting edge weapon for your level.
