Ian, Mike from USA, love your videos. I have watched all of them and really enjoyed the trip. U have inspired me to kit out my Kawasaki concours and plan a journey to South America. I turned 66 in February and after listening to u I have gained much inspiration to make a life changing journey. I'm leaving in April. I want to thank you for changing my life. Peace man.
Good luck Hugh. I am 60 and this guy has made up my mind up for me to ride to Morocco myself. Maybe you could vlog your trip? I would be most interested to see it. Regards, Bib, England.
Wow. Thanks mate. If I've encouraged one person to get their bike loaded and then use it to travel - then its been worth it. My only advice is to keep your kit to a minimum and at the start of each day have a plan A, B and a plan C. otherwise, just enjoy the freedom to travel. life can be far too short.
If you could see fit to do it, I for one would truly appreciate a video explaining how you book your digs, how you work out how many miles you will ride, how do you know where to get any necessary insurance, etc etc. @@onemanonebike8514
Ian full respect to you. What you have done is just amazing although when I saw the snow I thought you were on the A9 to Aviemore. Great video's 5 STAR. All the best Tam.
Ian, I have admired your determination especially after breaking your ankle right at the start of you journey. Thanks for sharing your travels it's been a great trip for you and an inspiration for others. Cheers.
I can only begin to imagine how you must feel leaving the heady days of Africa behind. But you've set yourself (and others) a high bar. Please don't let this be the end of your adventures. I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing you all the best, and a huge "thank you" for taking us along. Best TH-cam content I have watched in years...
Portugal are our oldest ally, the Treaty Of Windsor 1386 cemented our friendship. Fabulous country and people. I love your series been watching it since the start. I hope you do another season Ian.
Well Mr TH-cam- this part of your ongoing journey is done! What a truly fabulous time you’ve had- and bringing your Subscriber with was exceedingly generous on your part. Already looking forward to the next chapter- Do enjoy the West of Ireland over the summer, and definitely make Nordcap happen. Been an absolute blast travelling with you……..Many Thanks.
Ireland is on my bucket list, plus I'm definitely popping across to Sweden and Germany this summer and I'm now thinking of RTW in 2026. i need to save some money first though... Thanks for watching.
Great video, really appreciate your insight and sharing with us. Please keep making videos your so inspiring, may be you will get some bikers beans out of it. Thanks
Why am I your faithful follower? Number of reasons. Very well produced videos. The music is to die for. So damn good! Yourself. Funny, charismatic, confident. Good traveling companion! And you have traveled through, to me, unknown exotic, fascinating, exciting areas and countries. Yep, mate. You remain on my TH-cam list of people I can't wait to follow :)
You smooth talker.... I'll send you some money later... thanks mate. Much appreciated. All I was trying to do was inspire others to get out there on their bikes and explore the world around us.
So sad your epic 4-month trip to Africa is coming to an end. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single upload. Your captivating history lesson of Porto, was simply fascinating. I wish you continued safe travels on your way back to the UK and very much look forward to your final video of this series. Take care for now.
I hope now you are back in Blighty you make a review of the trip. Things that went well, things you might have done differently and things that went wrong. Am sure the first part will be the longest. I have loved watching this trip.

Thanks for posting and sharing these videos, they have been very very enjoyable. Have just returned from Morocco riding a Himalayan for a week and flew back directly over Santander and saw all the snow on the Picos Mountains and thought of you crossing these. A brilliant and inspirational vlog.

I'd like to meet up and buy you a beer or lunch when you've had chance to settle back in. I'm 71 now and still enjoy the wild camping and big trips (Morocco/ Norway etc), so your experiences and observations resonate. Safe home!
Hi Ian It’s been a pleasure following you on your epic journey and as a nearly a 64 year old, I’m gearing up for my first biking tour to France, bike all kitted out, you have given me a great insight into what is achievable even in our later years!! The adventure isn’t over Ian as you will soon be back on the road, I’m 58 from Manchester and also feel the same when I’m heading back to Blighty, touring blues I call it but chin up you’ll soon be home back in your own bed which as you say really is something to look forward to. Thanks for the content so far as it’s got me through winter and I’ll hopefully bump into on the road sometime, Gaz😀👍
Starting to feel sad 😢 it's coming to an end too soon, I've enjoyed every minute of the video over the Christmas period and into the new year, I'm looking forward to the summer months to get out on the bike and hopefully I'll bump into you on my travels around the west of Scotland, Safe journey back to bonny Scotland and keep an eye on the weather forecast they're saying snow is coming 😲

You’ve been an absolute inspiration, and I’m sorry you’re going off-line for a while. You have inspired folks of a, distinguished age😊, knowing they can do it too. Something that may be helpful, and I personally would love to see, is what all the costs are because one thing is being able to do it physically, another thing is to be able to do it financially. You kind of covered that in some of your discussions but it would be nice to have an overview, if you were willing to share. I can’t comment on much else because I’m in mourning over the fact that you’re going to be going back home just now.

Well done, enjoyed your trip, and obviously the videos. Its cold today in Scotland so I can understand you not looking forward to coming home but give it 3 or 4 weeks it'll be fine.
A great series of video's Ian,very inspiring & informative! I plan on riding from Lancashire to Morocco next winter, & your video's have been a great resource for the trip.I've done a few Euro tours & backpacked on a few continents but I've yet to take my motorcycle out of Europe. The paperwork seemed a bit intimidating but you showed how straight forward it is,also your the first motorcyclist I've seen camping in Morocco, until your uploads I was beginning to think there were no campsites!
Do it mate. DO it. You will not regret it. One bit. Morocco is sooooooo easy. And when you get there you will wonder why you hadnt done it before. As for campsites... theres loads. The iOverlander app is great for finding places to stay. Enjoy the planning mate, but dont plan too much. Leave yourself a bit of slack.
Hi Ian, I found your channel by mistake really, and was hooked from the start, and am now watching, your penultimate video? What are you doing next, please? Stay in touch some how,? Anyway, from your subscriber!😊, I feel I know you as a mate, and looking forward to your next adventure. Ride safe, all the best,Steve.
Hiya Steve. Thanks. I really don't know what i'm doing next. I have lots of things I'd LIKE to do and places I'd LIKE to see but its down to money, so I need to save up some biker beans and depending how much I can save by the end of the year will determine my next trip. I was thinking of Saudi next winter, or even flying somewhere and hiring a bike - but - it depends on my piggy bank. Keep on riding, mate.
Loved watching this trip, I commented once that I thought you had over packed ,but you know what I don’t think you did lol what a trip thanks for sharing it ,
On reflection now, I think I could have done with maybe two less tee shirts, and definitely not my camelbak - but other than that everything I've had with me I've used. I actually had to buy a fleece and a warm jacket when I got to Morocco as I had no warm gear with me. I'll be going over my kit in the last video.
@@onemanonebike8514 yes iv always packed very minimalistic I’m not a fan of panniers , be interesting to see your kit list but great job on travelling that far iv watched many others do Morocco, but yours seemed the most authentic way to see a number of countries cheers 😄

i'm on the ferry to Spain on the 7th and heading to Morocco. I,'m 70 in June and will be home by then for Hospital appointment and my 70th birthday party
Hi from Ireland.. If I recall correctly you said goodbye before and your still here so iv no doubt there will be more adventures coming up shortly. I'm looking forward to it!!
That was great Ian, thanks. Morocco has to be my target, I'll tighten my screws and get off of the sofa, I've given the vstrom a major service over the winter so she's ready to go, just gotta convince the boss and save some niker beans. Hope the crossing is smooth. Looking forward to the next, last ? Video. Stay safe and warm.
Great vlog Ian, your adventures are inspiring to old and young riders, who may have not taken the long road yet, adventure awaits ....keep going ...looking forward to more.. if possable would you share some info regarding how you vlog ect..please ...all the best 2u. Phil.
Thank you Ian enjoying your trip from the start. Retiring this year bought a clean 2019 v strom in France last week I couldn't get insurance to drive it home had to hire a van let us known if you plan a trip to the west of Ireland be safe adrian
There are so many parts of Spain and Portugal I would like to visit, and I will be back again soon - but the weather has changed so I'm heading home as I've been away for over four months and I need a rest. But, i will be back...
Really enjoyed your journey have done a lot of riding in France and Spain but never ventured further.i am 64 now but I have inspired me to do more thanks
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us... I've found it very interesting and informative... Thinking of something similar myself next year as retirement gets closer 😊.. Safe trip home... R
Well done. Maybe you can show us how to create such great videos & earn some biker beans that way. We all would love be able to produce videos to your standard.
Hi Ian. Thanks for keeping me entertained in the chilly UK across the winter whilst I’ve had No interest in riding since my return from my solo month of October in Morocco. Stop boasting how young you are. 🤣I celebrated my 67th birthday somewhere on the road in Morocco. I admit, I didn’t camp Romania is worth adding to the list. The road goes ever on. Safe riding Cheers Barry. UK🏍
enjoyed every video lan and well done mate ... lm 64, got the same bike and colour 🤣 and booked on the ferry in June to spain and got a few days and going to Porto and then back to San Sebastian for a day and night, then back up the French coast and then maybe a ferry home from st malo or maybe back to calais? not sure yet. Done loads of Euro trips over the years, done Cape Town to Zimbabwe, done Mumbai to Goa a few years back ... I honestly thought I was done at 60yrs but kept the Euro trips going and hopefully for a few years yet? you have been an inspiration mate and when I am retired then Turkey it is 👍
Hi Ian. Have loved this series. I live in Portsmouth. Get in touch if you you have time for a coffee or something if you're coming in here on the boat. Place for you to stay as well if you want. I'm off to Morocco in a week so would love to hear all about it and chew your ear off. Great trip. Thanks Jim. 👍🏻
Hi Ian I live near Belfast, if you are interested meeting up, before you get your boat to the Bonny land let me know as I have a few questions to ask you. Thks
Where are you? Did you make it back?….you have a whole legion of followers just waiting to see from Santander back home. We miss your natter and we are ‘ your subscribers’ and when you said the hair is looking a little ‘ bad hair day’….. I took her to the hairdresser!…..👴🏻😂😂😂😂
Hi Ian really enjoyed watching your videos. As you said ,age is just a number.I am 81, ride a 2017 gs adventure 1200, I was in Morocco last year in April/May time. Really enjoyed it.(solitude). I then went to Norway in July/August. ( a bucket list destination) but be prepared to get wet on a regular basis..I am taking things easy for now as all the getting on.off the bike last year did not do my hip any good. Destination this year is Turkey, via the ferry from Ancona (Italy) to Greece, and then back though Bulgaria ,Romania ect again)was down there in 2019. ,would liked to have ridden down the Adriatic coast again as the scenery is superb, but getting insurance ect to get through Montenegro/Albania is almost impossible Uk insurance companies will not cover these areas, even for the short hop through Boznia/H, a distance of 9.5 kl and 11 minutes riding time The wanted £150.00 for a temporary insurance for Bosnia but needed to know the exact day of passage through the country enjoy the rest of the trip home joe
Hi Joe. Insurance is a problem sometimes. With most countries you can get insurance on the border, but sometimes if its too much of an problem, maybe its best to bypass that country. That sounds like a great trip youre planning. I was thinking of something similar at some stage, Greece then Turkey and then either Romania and Bulgaria or maybe one or two of the 'Stan's'. I need to do some saving and get the bike back into shape before I go venturing again.
I enjoyed the series 👍👍. Will you do a review of the bike and equipment? I know other tourers who say the most important things are a quality sheepskin seat cover, upgraded grips and a kidney belt. Western Turkey and its history would be amazing, maybe into Bulgaria as well.
Thanks berry, and thanks for the offer, but as soon as i land in Rosslare I'll be making a mad-dash north to catch the ferry to Scotland. Now if the weather was milder and maybe a bit later in the year I'd take you up on your offer, but as it stands, I'm going to be running from jack frost so wont be hanging around. Safe riding, mate.
One im back I intend to work out my costs. I only used one card for my travels so a total will be fine, but to break it down will be difficult as I gave up trying to be spefic after two weeks, but I'll give it a go.
@@onemanonebike8514 That would be great ball park figure would work , and am sure most people will get it - different country’s different costs - it’s been great following you - make sure you do the odd ride out vid just to keep us all ticking over - ride safe mate 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Incredible Ian and have my trip scheduled 1st week April from Algericas to Tangier Med and onto Fes. a question where did you purchase your sim card from at the port?
If you want a simcard you can buy one at the office where you buy your vehicle insurance at Tangier med. Its after the Douanne and the last shack after the ATM's. It was 50eu for the card and 10gb of date - and then you can buy top ups from shops and petrol stations. But, I found it far easier to use an E-sim - and I used HOLAFLY.com - which worked out at 47eu for 15 days of unlimited data.
If I'm not mistaken you got the Continental trail attack 3 tires on your previous video, that's my go to tires for onroad, how many km did you get on the Motoz?, the rear especially because I just bought one also for my V strom 1000. Safe travels, from South Africa .
The Motoz GPS lasted about 11k miles. The front was good for more miles - like all front tyres - but I do think I did the most damage running for 10km with a flat rear in Mautitrania. If it wasnt for that I'm sure the rear Motoz would have been good for 13 to 14k miles.
Hello its your subscriber I have watched your progress through out my questions are 1 how much do you think this trip has cost you bearing in mind I don't think it have been shaved any thinner than you done it and 2 why did you not have a commentary through your runs going through the different places and 3 WHAT DO WE DO NOW ITS NEARING 😪AND END
I am going to try and work out some costs next week for my final video. I tried doing a running commentary but two things stopped me: the accoustics inside my helmet are terrible plus the mike caught alot of wind. Also, I found that I wasnt really comfortable chatting while riding as I felt it took my attention away from what I was going. I ended up ripping out the microphone and just doing what I did. As for whats next... I'm going to do a few small trips to europe this year and I'm starting to think about RTW in 2026. More to come...!
I do intend to get something smaller but in 25 or 26. i want to see if I can do 100k miles on this bike before I change to something else. Better the devil you know, as they say.
When you roll up an air bed put the bung back in. That way they stay the same size. Next time try a camp bed. Much much better. Ease off playing the age card I’m older than you and think it sounds odd.
I'm not playing the age card at all as I've nothing to prove and nothing to gain. When I mention my age all I'm doing is saying to the younger people out there - and they are in the majority - that if I can do this, then they can do something like this too. Which was one of the primary reasons I've made these videos.

i'm on the ferry to Spain on the 7th and heading to Morocco. I,'m 70 in June and will be home by then for Hospital appointment and my 70th birthday party
Well done shipmate. safe travels and have a fantastic time.
Hi from Ireland.. If I recall correctly you said goodbye before and your still here so iv no doubt there will be more adventures coming up shortly. I'm looking forward to it!!
That's the plan! And hopefully Ireland this summer.
Phil.
I'm going to do a last video - a summary - and I'll try to include the video bit... thanks for watching.
Thank you Ian enjoying your trip from the start. Retiring this year bought a clean 2019 v strom in France last week I couldn't get insurance to drive it home had to hire a van let us known if you plan a trip to the west of Ireland be safe adrian
Sorry to hear you had snags. It is a mile-muncher though so its worth the aggro...
Hi Ian i enjoyed your series of videos well done i look forward to your future travels
You jumped over Asturias and picos de europa, uuuuh, that’s sad.
There are so many parts of Spain and Portugal I would like to visit, and I will be back again soon - but the weather has changed so I'm heading home as I've been away for over four months and I need a rest. But, i will be back...
You are absolutely right Ian! Age is no excuse not doing what you wanted to do all live long…
Really enjoyed your journey have done a lot of riding in France and Spain but never ventured further.i am 64 now but I have inspired me to do more thanks
Portugal is reallllllly nice. Give it a go. You'll enjoy.
You need a strip of Velcro for that sleeping mat. Better than fiddling around with string.
I like my bits of string..! Roll it up, hold it between my knees and then wrap the string around it. Simples... But we're all different.
Muchas gracias por compartir tu viaje, ha sido un placer rodar virtualmente contigo. Espero verte pronto de nuevo en la carretera ¡¡¡
Gracias por mirar y estoy muy feliz de que hayas disfrutado de mi viaje.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us... I've found it very interesting and informative... Thinking of something similar myself next year as retirement gets closer 😊.. Safe trip home... R
Top man
Well done. Maybe you can show us how to create such great videos & earn some biker beans that way. We all would love be able to produce videos to your standard.
Maybe one day!
Have a safe homeward journey Ian
Hi Ian.
Thanks for keeping me entertained in the chilly UK across the winter whilst I’ve had No interest in riding since my return from my solo month of October in Morocco.
Stop boasting how young you are. 🤣I celebrated my 67th birthday somewhere on the road in Morocco.
I admit, I didn’t camp
Romania is worth adding to the list.
The road goes ever on.
Safe riding
Cheers Barry. UK🏍
Have fun!
Bonjour Monsieur - 👏👏
enjoyed every video lan and well done mate ... lm 64, got the same bike and colour 🤣 and booked on the ferry in June to spain and got a few days and going to Porto and then back to San Sebastian for a day and night, then back up the French coast and then maybe a ferry home from st malo or maybe back to calais? not sure yet. Done loads of Euro trips over the years, done Cape Town to Zimbabwe, done Mumbai to Goa a few years back ... I honestly thought I was done at 60yrs but kept the Euro trips going and hopefully for a few years yet? you have been an inspiration mate and when I am retired then Turkey it is 👍
Brilliant mate. Have bike CAN travel..!
Hi Ian. Have loved this series.
I live in Portsmouth. Get in touch if you you have time for a coffee or something if you're coming in here on the boat. Place for you to stay as well if you want.
I'm off to Morocco in a week so would love to hear all about it and chew your ear off.
Great trip.
Thanks
Jim. 👍🏻
Sorry Jim, I'm doing Rossslare and then Belfast to Scotland. Enjoy Morocco - its a superb country.
@@onemanonebike8514 No worries. Long shot. Enjoy the trip mate.
Haha... Its been a strange ten days but I've got the penultimate video online. Sorry for the delay.
Hi Ian
really enjoyed watching your videos.
Destination this year is Turkey, via the ferry from Ancona (Italy) to Greece, and then back though Bulgaria ,Romania ect again)was down there in 2019. ,would liked to have ridden down the Adriatic coast again as the scenery is superb, but getting insurance ect to get through Montenegro/Albania is almost impossible
Uk insurance companies will not cover these areas, even for the short hop through Boznia/H, a distance of 9.5 kl and 11 minutes riding time The wanted £150.00 for a temporary insurance for Bosnia but needed to know the exact day of passage through the country
enjoy the rest of the trip home
joe
What do we se in your videos and others like them? We see the things we'd like to be doing , but can't for one reason or another, simple as that!
You're all as mad as a box of frogs...!
I enjoyed the series 👍👍. Will you do a review of the bike and equipment? I know other tourers who say the most important things are a quality sheepskin seat cover, upgraded grips and a kidney belt. Western Turkey and its history would be amazing, maybe into Bulgaria as well.
Yes, I'll put something together once get home and sort myself out.
When you come to ireland let me know. A comfortable bed in Ballinrobe waiting for you. And a hot shower lol.
Ian not sure if you were planning to break down the est costs for ur trip 🤔 that would be great 👍🏻
One im back I intend to work out my costs.
With holafly, you also get 4g coverage across all of Morocco. I used holafly extensively.
Much appreciatted Ian and yes I will look at Holafly , so you do not need to change the sim?
More to come...!
oh ... and wonder who that actual first subscriber was????
Probably someone sat in a hut somewhere in India... ;-)
What was the price of your accommodation in Santander
It was 60eu for two nights. I found it through Booking.com.
@@onemanonebike8514 thanks for that I am coming over in a few months so depending on what time I arrive it's an option b
Are you considering getting a smaller bike? You don’t need that big bike.
I do intend to get something smaller but in 25 or 26. i want to see if I can do 100k miles on this bike before I change to something else. Better the devil you know, as they say.
Do you wear earplugs when riding? …..Essential when going through those tunnels eh!😖
Er, I did but I lost them the first week I was riding. I'm partially deaf anyway so I dont think they would have made much difference.
India, get an Enfield.
Hmmmmm, possibly...
