Hey Ian, As an older biker ( 73)I have travelled much of the world on an old BMW 75/6 / Vstrom 650 but I did not get to West Africa. Really enjoying your videos . About to head off around Australia my next jaunt.. Good for my soul. Travel safe. Dave Gold Coast, Australia
First soundtrack Excellent music choice: "You Are Welcome Here" by Katharine Appleton Third track (on the dirt road): "Light Falling" by Marc Torch Entering Nouakchott: "Public Enemy" by Johan Glossner
"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand." Happy New Year Ian.
Happy New Year! We've really enjoyed watching your travels through Africa. Its lifted our spirits somewhat during a very miserable time weatherwise here in UK. 😊
I've loved watching your videos, and I'm sure I've missed a few! I've only ridden to Morocco from the UK, and it's a truly wonderful country. On a side note, how does your GoPro Media Mod stand up to rain?
Happy new year Ian, have a great start to the new year and stay healthy and enjoy the next few months, snow's coming to the west of Scotland so don't rush back home 😁
Refreshing. No BMW GS but the most underestimated bike ever. Not young, female and blond but retired male and certainly not Brad Pitt. You make clear that life certainly doesn’t stop at 60. BTW Whatsappje is your age ?
If you’re going to get a passavant then try getting your extension in St Louis. I went to Dakar and the policeman made me pay a 65eu bribe to get the extension.
Happy new year and all the best to you. Trank you much for very interesting Videos and Informations. Is the V-Strom good for this long ride? Do you Must make any technical Checks and Inspektion ? Ride safe and Sorry about my bad English. Best Greetings Fromm northern Germany. Bernd
The vstrom is very reliable. I have had no problems with it. It starts every day and just eats the kilometres. I do check the bike every day, and every few days I go over everything to make sure all is well. Yesterday I changed the brake pads and next week I am going to make an oil and filter change. Thank you for your message Bernd.
Happy Hogmanay to you Ian, Lang mae yir lum reek and safe travels from a subsciber in Chagrin Falls, Ohio USA and a fellow traveler many moons ago. You do a great and informative video, thanks, Harry
Happy New Year from Western Australia. Those hot days are terrible, we get lots of them. Please keep hydrated and enjoying those end of day showers. Ride safe.

They remembered me at Nouhadibou. The Zebrabar is very busy, so you’re just another ‘traveller’.
How did you receive satnav instructions with no comms unit?
I just have a quick look at the screen. It’s all I can do at the moment.
Happy New Year!
Same to you!
So the Gambia was the Far? 😊
Er, yes...!
That insurance works out to 730 Euros per year. Who is insured for what for that ?
Basically it’s third party insurance. It’s for the other driver - not you.
