Imagine being so insecure you have to explain why you're working on a Toyota. It's ok to work on Toyotas! Lol jk, thanks for posting this! Good tip sliding out that fan. I have this job tomorrow morning. Guys like you really help earn a little extra money to keep food on the table for us neighborhood handymen

Thanks Guys, You were the only ones to suggest taking out the fan. GENIUS !!! 2 bolts, 2 clips and a connector, NO BRAINER ! Opens up SOOOOO much room ! Thanks Again !!!

I don't often comment on TH-cam videos but I recently replaced the starter on my 2005 Corolla and found the video helpful.

I opened the both bolts on the right hand but motor didn’t come out. It’s as bolts weren’t removed. Should I use hammer 🔨 after opening both bolts?

@@rightisright2571if you’re still trying to get it off 4 year later, then the answer is yes tap it with a hammer and it’ll slide right out

Great. Video I’m not worried about the starter replacement now. If you ever do a power steering pump on a 2005 Corolla post it so I can see how to do that job.

I'm waiting a week to replace the starter. Hoping a few love taps with a wrench every now and then will hold me over until this weekend. 🙃

Shop was gonna charge me 450 bucks just for the labor alone. Managed to do this in less than two hours and just followed this video exactly. THANK YOU!!! #gaylordfoundhishole

This is why I’m so glad I live in a border town here in southern Arizona. My son’s starter went out on his 06 Honda Civic. The location of the starter is so much harder to get at than these Corollas. It’s at the bottom of the engine in an extremely tight spot. The mechanic in Tucson was going to charge me 450 for labor as well. Instead, I called a friend who has a mechanic buddy in Nogales Sonora. I picked him up at the border with his tools, brought him to my home and 3 hours later I had a new starter installed. He charged me $60 dollars🤯 I gave him a 20 dollar tip and drove him home.
Also, our local auto parts store was going to charge almost 200 for a new starter. I went online to Amazon and purchased one for 65 dollars. This was a year ago and the car still starts like a dream. I saved soo much money just by shopping smart

I turned the key in my 2004 Corolla (1.8L) and nothing. I changed the battery, same thing. This car went trouble free for so long, I completely overlooked the starter. All this car ever needed was routine maintenance. Nothing major. Thanks for posting. I thought I was in trouble. How much do these starters run about?

Now if I test the START wire by having someone try cranking and I find no voltage, is the Neutral Safety Switch a possible problem?

How the hell are you supposed to remove the power cord anchor clips for the fan without breaking them or ripping up the shroud.

Did the oil in mine last night and then went to start it and nothing. Wont crank or anything when in park or neutral so we're thinking neutral safety switch. Just watching videos on starters also just incase it's the starter but pretty positive from what I've looked up that it's the switch.

No because the engine was cool at the time... If you just ran the motor let it cool down and you shouldn't have any pressure on the radiator

It's not entirely necessary. There are plenty of videos showing people wrestling it out with nothing else removed .... but if it's THAT simple to gain that much room... its worth it!

Sorry you DONT like toyotas. There are over 150 toyotas that have over a MILLION MILES on them. Unlike GM that has only a very very small handful that has come close and toyotas has very very very few recalls. Thanks for showing the video. My son is replacing his this morning.
