Great video, I used the advice you gave, but instead of jacking it up, I just pulled my fan out. Gives you a lot more space to work if your using hand tools, and also makes it easier to remove the starter and fit the new one in.
This video is 100% accurate. However, it's a little deceiving because the camera fits into the space in front of the motor. My head does not. Just be aware that this video shows you where everything is, but it's a little harder to see. Awesome video! Thank You!
Worked great! With a second person helping, we managed to get the new starter in from below without raising the car. Love how high off the ground these Corollas sit!
I removed the fan shroud and then had easy access to remove the starter. 330k km and the original Denso starter begun to intermittently spin but not kick out the Bendix. A disassembly, clean, and spot of grease on the gears and oil on the bushings and it sounds and works like a new one!
Idk …..I didn’t take out the fan nor did I jack up the car…..couldn’t use a reg 3/4 inch wrench since it hit the plastic fan but COULD use a short/small handle 1/4 inch wrench and a short 12mm socket to remove elec connection bolt . The other two bolts I removed with a regular 3/4 wrench . Then I removed 2 clips from the plastic splash guard and wiggled it out the bottom. Did the same thing in reverse to reinstall.

I ask because I have a Corolla 2001 and this channel is awesome and I learn a lot about xb and now Corolla but here is a 2003 Corolla and I have a 2001 so I don’t know if is same parts
Any help I have a new starter in hand but the old clip to clip it on broke know it don’t clip on the reason why it broke. It was too old when I pulled out it just cracked to dust. Know the starters not stain click on. What should I do
I replaced mine on an 03 Corolla with a Toyota starter around 2014 & it just got messed up today in 2024. Is that normal for it to go this soon? Also, should I get an original Toyota starter or can I buy another brand? One last thing, is it possible for a mechanic to damage the starter while working on something else?
2008 Corolla .. I found it easier to remove the electric cooling fan, two 10mm bolts. Also, I removed the signal connector after disconnecting the starter... much easier.
This is alright but it's easier to pull the fan that it is to jack the car up and wrestle the starter in place. Also, beware. I just replaced a good starter because even though it would roll the windows up and down and turn on the headlights, it wouldn't click the starter solenoid.

Best video for working on cars I've ever seen!

Excellent video! Very helpful, clear and concise!

Nuestro capitán!!! Trasmite mucho nomás de verlo 💪 visca barca.
What is the power tool you're using on the middle bolt keeping the starter in place
Great video as always

Straight to the point !
will trying to start the engine damage the flywheel? I hear the clicking, i imagine thats the flywheel trying to engage
Serious Question, do you keep the electric radiator fans in place to protect the radiator?
Great clip thanks! I had a better time loosening one of the bolt from the bottom.
Regards

great video thank you!!! 😁
Thanks for the vid. We did it successfully! 😊
thanks this worked great for me! however i did take out the fan which was extremely simple, so I didn't have to take it out through the bottom.

I feel like I over tighten the electrical part. I’m sure I would of known if I broke it right?
Great video. Very helpful
Actually it’s easy if u just remove the fan assembly and it’s a lot faster no need jack the car up or nothing comes from top with fan out the way
Excellent video thanks
Very helpful. Thanks!
Good video but is there a mechanic out there with XL forearms making how to vids?
Great Vid😎👌
Yes the first 14 mm bolt accessed from the right side takes an extension
Great video

Well somehow my 04 is different because I don't have that top bolt. I can't find the other bolt anywhere
What attachment or tools did you use to remove the bolt at 1:30?
Muchas gracias!!!!!
Really you don't show removing the top bolt the only one that people have problems getting to
This process is the same for a Corolla 2001?
+David Figueroa Jr The part in this video does not fit your application, but the install should be the same or similar.
How many year a starter last?
Im struggling to find that first bolt 😭
It helps to take a break , then resume
Perfect
Pulling the fan is easier then this method
make sure use the air gun tools to torque it down so the next guy cant remove it
There are several better videos than this. This one made the process unduly complicated.
